In my experience there is an enormously greater percentage of young guys who do martial arts then you'd find in the US or Australia. I asked a couple of young office guys I worked with if they did any 'Bruce Lee' kinda stuff. They demured. I pushed it a little. C'mon, show me what you got. And they did. And I'm like whoa...what the..? Don't mess with these guys.
Many years ago I studied Wado-Kai karate which roughly translated means soft karate.
There was nothing soft when sparring with the @Estrid type of opponent, the five foot nothing skinny female who had a point to prove against a male opponent.
Apart from the reluctance of pulling back on punches and kicks they employed a much higher percentage of foot sweeps meaning a greater chance of ending up on your backside.
I actually felt safer when sparring against bigger male opponents.

I decked a guy to the ground in boot camp once, then started after him.

At the time, I was 6'1" and weighed 199 lbs.

The guy to the left of me in formation, some 5'7" bean pole ... but a black belt in Aikido ... put his right arm around my waist, leaned over to his left and lifted me up off the pavement.

And I couldn't do a thing, but flail my legs, looking like a fish out of water.

Mom was all about like violin and ballet.
I've had reason to wish it had been martial arts.

David was a martial artist.

Taught by God, himself.

Now you've all gone and done it. The forum page is now replete with adverts for self defence courses!

... a disagreement over basic reality?

I find a lot of discussions with creationists seem to be boil down to disagreement over the nature of reality. And I'm not sure that there is a way to bridge such disagreement.

The first step, is claiming the authority of the Word of God - over the Devil's attempt to weary the flesh of men.

As long as we are responding "no word idle for nothing" in Evolution's defence, we have reason to believe that our contribution to Evolution, will not be nothing.

In time reciting scripture will be a strength to believer and sinner alike, that's basically what I am saying.

And great would be its fall.

Matthew 7:26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Computers are vital today in keeping science looking viable.

And what are found in computers? silicon chips.

And where does the silicon come from? the sand.

Science has been building its house upon the sand for decades now; but it's soon to come tumbling down.

And great will be the fall of it.

Computers are tools, not props.
They contribute nothing to keeping science looking viable.
Its RESULTS that keep it looking viable. Not tools.
Take away computers, and science will still have pencil and paper. We lose a few abilities, but we still have the same science our great grandparents had. We still have cities, industry, and trade. I can still buy an Egyptian cotton shirt, and new tires for my bicycle. The army can dust off the old artillery range setting tables we used to beat the Germans,,, twice. And folks go back to writing letters, and mailing them.
Without science, we go back to mud huts and subsistence agriculture pretty quickly. Anything that is more than a day's walk away, may as well not exist. And your new feudal overlord helps himself to your crops.

So you go from "take away computers" to "without science" in order to make the point we would be living in mud huts.

That's quite a jump you made.

Not at all.
As I said, computers are tools that science can function without. It did so for a good couple centuries.
Science is the tool modern civilization CANNOT function without.

I studied a bit, the science of navigation and
sailing in the 18th century.
Really incredible, the things they worked out,
their equipment, methods, what they could do.
The British were world leaders in that, and the
language is still full of the high tech vocabulary
of the day.

It would be nice if our modern luddites
could just go find a dirt farm where they c
ould free themselves from all the dreadful
science that so confuses and besets them.

Those I know who do come from third
world subsistence farms could not be
dragged back with a log chain.

Maybe spoilt westerners though would find it groovy.
