Does the March of Dimes come into a city in which none of them live and try to tear it up?And people die of heart disease and diabetes everyday, far more than shooting, so perhaps we should demand they focus diet and health too? But like any movement or organization, they are focused on a particular issue. Just as Susan G Komen is focused on breast cancer or the March of Dimes is focused on early childhood disease, demanding they expand their mission makes no sense. Black Lives Matter is focused on police misconduct and police accountability; there are other organizations dealing with citizen violence in Detroit, like FORCE and Live in Peace. Your ignorance of these organizations does not mean they do not exist.
Obviously people do care, they care about citizen violence and they care about police accountability. At least when a citizen commits a crime, they are likely to be arrested, prosecuted, given a prison sentence if convicted; this is not the case for many police officers and that needs to change. The Black Lives Matter movement is one reason why accountability has increased and there is more talk of de-escalation techniques being incorporated in to policing.
