And people die of heart disease and diabetes everyday, far more than shooting, so perhaps we should demand they focus diet and health too? But like any movement or organization, they are focused on a particular issue. Just as Susan G Komen is focused on breast cancer or the March of Dimes is focused on early childhood disease, demanding they expand their mission makes no sense. Black Lives Matter is focused on police misconduct and police accountability; there are other organizations dealing with citizen violence in Detroit, like FORCE and Live in Peace. Your ignorance of these organizations does not mean they do not exist.

Obviously people do care, they care about citizen violence and they care about police accountability. At least when a citizen commits a crime, they are likely to be arrested, prosecuted, given a prison sentence if convicted; this is not the case for many police officers and that needs to change. The Black Lives Matter movement is one reason why accountability has increased and there is more talk of de-escalation techniques being incorporated in to policing.
Does the March of Dimes come into a city in which none of them live and try to tear it up?

Trying to change the subject already?
Trying to stay on topic--mass destruction by BLM (not March of Dimes anything). BLM just wants chaos so they can swoop in with their communist rhetoric to restore order. It's a sham to anyone who actually looks at it's true motives.

She can talk about whatever subject she wants...

You wouldn't tell the Susan G Komen foundation to talk about colon cancer and blah blah blah...

Black Lives Matter has a method that destroys a lot but achieves next to nothing.

It's worth criticizing.

I agree. Most people don't see it up close, so they don't really know what they're talking about. Or they are involved and come into a city, reek havoc, then leave. They don't care about the black lives they're disrupting and black businesses they're destroying.

You brought up a claim that no one protests citizens killing each other, they do. You also brought up that BLM should be focused on more than one topic, of course ignoring the fact that many organizations and movements have a specific goal, why should BLM be any different?

Your quotes below are this very topic, but now you're changing the subject.

A man just shot his 7 year old today (in Detroit), not one protest. Which black lives matter?

We have shootings every single day here. If black lives matter, they should matter whether or not the police are involved in the situation. Where are the marches against those slain and can't speak for themselves? Something has to be done in the community. Violence is so common, people don't even bat an eye at it anymore. That should be addressed also. It's not a this OR that, it's both.

BLM should change it's name to "Down with the Police", because that's what they're more focused on. The name is misleading. They make it sound like they care about ALL blacks.

If the concern is black lives....or even black lives ending unjustly....then it's worth pointing out that extremely few end unjustly by police.

It's like naming your group "Vaccines Save Lives" then putting all of your focus on Polio instead of Covid.

Agreed. Our (black) police chief has done so much to keep our city safe for everyone. Why BLM would attack that makes you wonder which black lives actually matter to them.

Obviously the people running the group only care about themselves.

Cullors....the black woman who bought the mansions....claimed she wanted to move the focus of BLM away from police shootings and more towards "building something more positive" for the black community.

Why? Did she solve the police shootings issue? Did it stop being a problem?

Or does she want to justify getting more money and doing whatever she wants with it without having to give it to the families that actually lost loved ones?

The self-described Marxist last month purchased a $1.4 million home on a secluded road a short drive from Malibu in Los Angeles, according to a report.

What she's doing isn't at odds with Marxism...at least in terms of outcome.

Any Marxist regime in history has claimed to be be about abolishing capitalism and equality of outcome on paper, but a few people have always enjoyed a special, better equality than everyone else lol.

Mikhail Gorbachev, Erich Honecker, Nicolae Ceaușescu, Mieczysław Rakowski, etc...

They all had much nicer accommodations and creature comforts than the rest of their "equals" and "comrades", yes?

It really says something about an ideology itself when the entire thing is supposed to be centered around one unifying principle (equality of outcome), and there's yet to be an example of a country being able to get it right lol.

If I started an ideology that was centered around the unifying principle of abstaining from alcohol, and literally every single country in history that claimed to try it and embrace it, within 6 months, turned into a group of elites drinking whiskey every night while simultaneously making everyone else follow the rules (and punishing them if they didn't)...it'd be blatantly obvious that the idea was a bust.

There's still several people who haven't been able to see through the nonsense of Marxist theory...

You know I used to think of it as a self serving power grab. I think in a lot of cases and a lot of ways....it's a valid argument. It explains the results well.

However, I do think there's another explanation of it's appeal and tendency towards failure. The failure is most easily understood in Game Theory. Communism is a game that no one can win...so people must be compelled to play. This results in the forced labor, mass murder, and eventual slide back to a free market or something like it.

There is, I think, in any successful capitalist society a class of intellectual citizens who don't fully understand capitalism but understand the competition at the bottom of it. They understand we can't all win, see this as a problem to overcome, and decide it's something to be fixed. Communism....equity....or whatever seems appealing because it removes the competition. They think if only everyone can be brought onboard it will work.

When the failures of this thinking become apparent.....the blame falls on "those who aren't really onboard" which looks like a paranoid witchhunt. It looks like people are deliberately trying to sabotage the idea. In reality, the idea doesn't work.

Whether it's a paranoid purge of people sabotaging the idea....or a legitimate purge of those who understand why it's failing really makes no difference. Whoever got enough power to set it up is the only one with anything left to lose....so they do whatever they must to hang onto power.

This is why communists end up killing all other communists. Faced with the continued failure of the idea....eventually it's a total collapse or someone looks outward at what does work (capitalism) and begins to implement some level of free market trade.

So while it may look entirely like a self serving power grab....it can also be the recognition of a failed idea and the complete elimination of all who understand it in attempt to avoid paying the piper.

The part of racial equity, as an idea, that I don't understand is how it can possibly last longer than a generation. Imagine yourself part of the young white woke 15-25 year old demographic....

How many times can you be turned down for a job because you're white before you stop supporting it? How are you going to imagine the future of your children being denied a college education or job because they're white before you start to realize that you're literally making things harder for yourself for no good reason?

Why wouldn't this group....or at least their children....begin to claim a victim status? They won't have to come up with any imaginary hidden method of discrimination. They'll be able to point to it. They'll have a long record of who has been saying it.
