Media critics erupt after Russia bounty story fizzles: 'Nonsense from the beginning'
In yet another example of a dramatic mainstream media narrative imploding, the intelligence community has backed off reports that Russia placed bounties on the heads of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan.
A thread by conservative writer Drew Holden showed the extent of the coverage last year, with MSNBC, CNN, the Washington Post, the Associated Press, ABC News, NBC News, Reuters, NPR, and a host of others giving the story credence. In one story, CNN called the story "richly reported."
MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, a leading proponent of Russia-related conspiracy theories during the Trump era, passed the story along as true to her viewers, calling it a whole new level of "bad." Joy Reid, another MSNBC host known for disseminating conspiracy theories, also accepted the story without question.

Hmmmmm, and here we are told that the press is necessary to keep an eye on the government. Seems more like the MSM is the one that needs watching.......

USA Today had a good article covering this story in July 2020.
Russia bounty on US troops in Afghanistan: What we know

Here's a good one from FoxNews June 2020.
Multiple intelligence streams suggest Russians paying bounties for US troops, Trump not briefed: official

If a person reads diverse news sites they can pretty well determine if something is absolutely true or may be true.
In this case, there were rumors that needed to be confirmed. It looks like it began with a report in the NYT but I don't have a subscription to check it out.

The idea the MSM just lies about everything and can't be trusted at all, imo, is grossly overblown but they do, ALL of them, need to report facts without commentary attached. Put opinion in an opinion piece. The news shouldn't need to appear as creative writing.

How do you get from ‘intelligence agencies back off’

‘In yet another example of a dramatic mainstream media narrative imploding, the intelligence community has backed off

to your issue with the MSM? Your OP makes no sense. You appear to be making some claim that because some news channels (including Fox btw) reported on information from US intelligence they have ‘imploded’? What is that supposed to mean? What on Earth to you think is wrong with the phrase ‘richly reported’?
Please explain what you mean with examples of reporting from the NYT, WAPO, or other news outlets you people think are ‘fake’ or whatever, explaining what the ‘implosion’ is.

Meaning what, and based on what? There’s nothing in the silly drivel you posted that supports this assertion.
I haven't read anything you've posted to refute it so there is that.......Try that route instead of just complaining about the poster......

You could post something to refute it......assuming you can prove it is inaccurate.

Refute what? What is it actually saying? Can you explain how you read the actual words in the OP and come to the conclusion that the 'msm' or whatever you call it has made some sort of major error? It's just a jumble of meaningless assertions, there's nothing in there that remotely supports that idea. Please go ahead, explain what the claim is in a way that makes sense - and includes an adequate representation of what you think it all means - and I'd be happy to try and refute it.

That Trump was not briefed seems a pretty blatant, after the fact fabrication.

Examples of the outrageous democrat lunacy found by Holden - 'we need a full investigation - we have an obligation to our service members to get to the bottom of this' - 'Sen. Duckworth demands more details'. Oh the horror! Any adult should be ashamed to be found taking such ridiculous piffle seriously. Please provide some examples of the 'msm' endlessly pushing 'the narrative'.

What is it that you think is actually incorrect about this from CNN, for example?
