Well Jesus as the Son of God Incarnate seemed to get a long better with some folks and have more fondness for some than others. There was a big difference between how he acted with his Pharisee detractors vs. someone like saint John the Divine, Peter, Mary and Martha etc.

I am inclined to think that he loves us all, but some of what we do grieves him. And with some of us, it's more than it is with others of us.

It's much like a parent-child relationship that has its adversarial moments but in which the special bond never is equaled by any other friendships or relationships and is never dissolved, no matter what.

Nicodemus & Saul of Tarsus show that He wasn't against all Pharisees.

By "liking us," I believe that He likes everyone who reaches out to Him regardless of their failures. Those who do not, remain to be judged (which is a kind of hate).

So (I would say), He loves everyone enough to offer Salvation.
He likes everyone who takes Him up on His offer.

We know from the Bible that God loves us. Does he actually like us as well? Does he like some of us but not others? Does he like us if we behave well, but not if we behave poorly? What do you think?

Hello LaSorcia,

I would say yes He "likes" us because He could have done away with Adam and Eve right after their disobedience in the garden. What's remarkable is that right after this disobedience, He promises redemption through the seed of the woman (Gen 3:15). Jesus Christ coming and enduring the cross for the joy set before Him seems to show a deep love/like for us.

As far as liking some more than others, that's more difficult because we are dealing with the mind of God. His thoughts are much higher than our own. He does promise to "save His people from their sins" in Matthew 21:1. He declares the atoning work "finished" on the cross. I don't think He would have humbled Himself down and endured the wrath of God for many sons and daughters if He didn't like us.

Just my 2 cents. "Like" seems to be a lesser form of "love" So if He loves us, I think we can assume He likes us :) Hope that helps!

God loves those to whom he gave his law, and those whom he has called to grace. Others not so much.

Romans 9:13
As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

But like any parent, spouse, or friend, sometimes you don't like those you love very much.

I said "Pharisee detractors"... aka ones criticizing and nit picking him.

I think a better way of asking is does God find pleasure with some over others.

And I'm not saying God loves one more than another for even with natural parents they just LOVE their children period. Of course he can find more pleasure with one over another. Keep in mind though too the way that God finds pleasure with one is if they will agree that he God sees them through the blood of Jesus and he sees them justified so his pleasure isn't necessarily even connected to how good they've lived in life.

If you've failed and flopped but you've got up and obeyed Jesus and come boldly to the throne of his grace to find his grace and mercy to help in time of need....well that brings in God's pleasure or in a weaker way of saying it he likes you more. (again I'm not connecting like to LOVE) How is it that we bring joy to his heart or as some might say make him like you more? By walking by faith and not by sight.

But my righteous one shall live by faith: And if he shrink back, my soul hath no pleasure in him. Heb 10:38

Feeling more pleasure has to mean as one would say "likes" them more. Just don't get confused into thinking he means LOVE them more.

No he doesn't even though you can find an odd verse of scripture in the Psalms which says so. Psalm 5 You just have to understand the spirit of how they're said. I've seen parents who in one sense becoming exasperated with an offspring will say they feel like they hate their own child.....(meaning something like a rebellious teenager causing them pain, sorrow and grief) Does the parent REALLY hate them though? Not really. If something happened to their offspring and they died their heart would be broken. They really still do LOVE their offspring and God says he has NO PLEASURE in the death of the wicked. Eze 18:23 If he hated them TRULY he would find pleasure in it. We just need to know the spirit in how the word is used.

there are days I say to myself "God doesn't like me"

HE likes the rest of you, though

Keep this in mind though. I once heard of a young child with 4 dolls. 3 were beautiful and very well kept and in order. One of the dolls was half ripped apart and needed repaired and helped. The young girl chose to hold onto the mangled up doll. An adult was surprised and asked why did she pick the ripped up doll to hold and the girl said, "Because this one NEEDS me the most!"

If you're feeling God likes some more than you well maybe his emotions feel somewhat that way but he wants to have the feeling of like of you the same as the others. Just don't consider that he loves anyone more than you though. Like and love are different and when you KNOW that he loves you it motivates you to want to please him. And Jesus said God actually is more prone to have more attention on the ones who need him. See Luke 15.

Then Jesus told them this parable: “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? Luke 15:3

Now we all know he doesn't leave or not pay attention to the hundred safe sheep but he's telling us one who is in trouble of being lost and confused he REALLY, REALLY, wants to help them. Jesus is really saying don't ever, ever feel that God is indifferent towards you because you're in need of great help....even if it's because of mistakes that you've made.

You're missing the spirit of how those verses were meant to be taken. See again my Post 11.
not missing simply ignoring your interpretation since its not valid

I mean u can twist Scriptures all u want but they just speak of themselves for example

Ecclesiasticus 12:6
“For the most High hateth sinners, and will repay vengeance unto the ungodly, and keepeth them against the mighty day of their punishment.”

It doesn't say he hates sins and loves sinners thats new age agenda , it says what it says if u don't like it deal with God not me.

Again you're missing the spirit of the verses in question. You need to rightly divide them with proper understanding. God does NOT tell us to LOVE the sinner, and LOVE those that hate us and create a standard for us he's not willing to be a part of. Matt 5:44
