Is it your contention that the Church apostatized very early after her founding by worshipping on Sunday?

There has always been a church holding fast to true doctrine.

Your comment brings up the question "Do NT writers warn us that inside the church - bad doctrine would arise??" - let's take a look

Mark 7:6-13 Jesus makes a statement about the one true nation church started by God at Sinai, as it was confronting bad doctrine from within.

In Acts 20 Paul gives this warning to the Church - the one true Church - the Christian church form of it -- started in the NT
29 I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; 30 and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things to draw away the disciples after them. 31 Therefore, be on the alert, remembering that night and day for a period of three years I did not cease to admonish each one with tears.

3 John 1
9 I wrote something to the church; but Diotrephes, who loves to be first among them, does not accept what we say. 10 For this reason, if I come, I will call attention to his deeds which he does, unjustly accusing us with malicious words; and not satisfied with this, he himself does not receive the brothers either, and he forbids those who want to do so and puts them out of the church.

Jude 1
3 Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith that was once for all time handed down to the saints. 4 For certain people have crept in unnoticed,... persons who turn the grace of our God into indecent behavior and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

... 10 But these people disparage all the things that they do not understand;
... 12 These are the ones who are hidden reefs in your love feasts when they feast with you without fear, like shepherds caring only for themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; ...
... 19 These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit.

1 Tim 1
3 Just as I urged you upon my departure for Macedonia, to remain on at Ephesus so that you would instruct certain people not to teach strange doctrines, 4 nor to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which give rise to useless speculation rather than advance the plan of God, which is by faith, so I urge you now. ... 6 Some people have strayed from these things and have turned aside to fruitless discussion, 7 wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions.

2 Cor 11
3 But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his trickery, your minds will be led astray from sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 4 For if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, this you tolerate very well! ...

12 But what I am doing I will also continue to do, so that I may eliminate the opportunity from those who want an opportunity to be regarded just as we are in the matter about which they are boasting. 13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness,

Gal 1:6-9
9 As we have said before, even now I say again: if anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!

2 Thess 2
Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, regarding the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, 2 that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit, or a message, or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. 3 No one is to deceive you in any way! For it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,

but you say the church failed

I never say the church failed.

Jesus gave the promise that He would build His church on Peter,

Jesus never said He was building His church on Peter.

We find in 1 Cor 10:4 that the "Rock is Christ" -
We find in 1 Cor 3: 11 For no one can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

In Matt 16 Christ said to Peter "get thee behind me Satan" because Peter was on the path of making a serious mistake -- that he later turned away from.

Matt 16 Jesus said to Peter "you are Peter / petros (pebble)) - but on this PETRA (Rock - foundation stone) I will build my church"

Christ is telling us that Matt 16 "on this Petra I will build my church " and "that Petra (rock) is Jesus" 1Cor 10:4 – “No OTHER Petra (foundation) can anyone lay” 1Cor 3:11 -- according to the apostolic and explicit teaching in 1cor 10:4. Jesus is not a co-founder, or co-foundation upon which the church is built - he is the Petra – the foundation.

Matt 7
24“therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock (Petra).

25“and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock (Petra - bedrock)

Your silence speaks volumes HIM and your argument is just another demonstration of "salvation by grace plus law, faith plus works" (Galatians 1:6-9) just as SDA's teach.

Are you Seventh Day Adventist, or do you associate with another Sabbath keeping congregation?

I am asking honestly so I know where you stand and we are not talking past eachother

If you look at my profile/icon picture on each one of my posts - they all say "SDA" that is just like me using the term "RCC" for Roman Catholic Church. SDA is "Seventh-day Adventist". I am SDA.

Other examples are:
UMC for United Methodist
PC-USA for Presbyterian church - USA
SDB - Seventh-day Baptist
SBA - Southern Baptist Association

etc.

Christ was the cornerstone, not the entire foundation.

Faith is the foundation, Christ being the cornerstone of that Faith.

[Rom 16:25-26 ESV] Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages but has now been disclosed and through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith--

[Eph 2:19-20 ESV] So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone,

[1Pe 2:6 ESV] For it stands in Scripture: "Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame."

That is an "interesting" response to 1 Cor 3:11.

In any case even Eph 2:19-20 does not select any one apostle as the foundation, but I do agree with its affirmation of scripture (Apostles and Prophets)

I said "the nation church" was started at Sinai. The "persecuted church" was started by Christ in the Gospels. In Rev 12 you see "one church" in both OT and NT -- a single entity - as the woman who gives birth to Christ and also flees into the wilderness during 1260 years of dark-ages persecution of the saints that followed some time later.

The "one Gospel" Gal 1:6-9 in both cases is the New Covenant found in Jer 31:31-34 and unchanged found again in Heb 8:6-12.

I’m good. Now feel free to answer my two questions. Were you using your argument to teach that believers today absolutely must keep the sabbath day or else they will not be saved? Are you judging and condemning me? A simple yes or no will suffice.

I know these scriptures want to be ignored but Jesus said:

Mathew 19: 6 Now behold, one came and said to Him, “Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?”

17 So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”

18 He said to Him, “Which ones?”

Jesus said, “‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’ 19 ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ ”

Jesus was quoting from the Ten.

Ecclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man’s all.

We are saved by God's grace (His gift) though our faith, but those who are faithful also keep God's commandments (Exodus 20)

Revelations
14:12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

and there is this scripture:

Revelations 22:14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.

Are we supposed to ignore these scriptures?

It is interesting. However, this goes to show that we cannot just pluck one verse out here or there and make a doctrine on it. :)

I am sure Paul was not contradicting what he has said before(or after). But, with all the other passages that point to Christ being the cornerstone, I can only assume that he meant Faith in Christ Jesus.

I base this on his statement just prior;

[1Co 3:10 ESV] According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it.

Paul taught Faith in Christ, which is the foundation the Prophets and other Apostles taught.

The woman in Revelation 12 is the nation of Israel, not the church. I know that this is an SDA teaching, but it is wrong.

[Rev 12:1 ESV] And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.

This is likened to the dream that Joseph had. Except in his dream, there were 11 stars bowing down because he was the 12th star.

Jesus gave 'birth' to the Church - not the Church gave birth to Jesus. Jesus came from Israel - Israel is the one who 'gave birth' to Him.

The woman in Revelation 12 is the nation of Israel, not the church.

It has to be the church in both OT and NT because she is persecuted for 1260 years and is the focus of the wrath of the dragon in Rev 12. The Nation Church is the one that gives birth to Jesus - according to Jesus in John 4.
" 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, because salvation is from the Jews."

Salvation is of Christ - but the Jews were the nation church started by God at Sinai. That is the woman of Rev 12.

Notice what her characteristic is in Rev 12

5 And she gave birth to a Son, a male, who is going to rule all the nations with a rod of iron; and her Child was caught up to God and to His throne. 6 Then the woman fled into the wilderness where she had a place prepared by God, so that there she would be nourished for 1,260 days.
.
..10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down, the one who accuses them before our God day and night. 11 And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.

13 And when the dragon saw that he was thrown down to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child. 14 But the two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, so that she could fly into the wilderness to her place, where she *was nourished for a time, times, and half a time, away from the presence of the serpent. 15 And the serpent hurled water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, so that he might cause her to be swept away with the flood. 16 But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and drank up the river which the dragon had hurled out of his mouth. 17 So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her children, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.

It is very clear that the woman
  • gives birth to Jesus --
  • and is protected by God during the 1260 years of persecution of the saints during the dark ages -
  • and her children are those who " keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.
  • And her children are they with whom the dragon is at war.

I know what I am speaking.
No you don't. Matt 5:17-20 is very clear and you don't see or refuse to see that. Or maybe you do see it and that is why you are not really adding anything to say it says different.

Because Heaven and Earth have not passed away and all has not been fulfilled. Therefore Whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven.
How is to be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven? We will no case enter therein. Is exactly what the text says.

Matt 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Matt 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Matt 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Matt 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Are you using your argument above to teach that believers today absolutely must keep the sabbath day or else they will not be saved? Are you judging and condemning me?
God judges not me. Not my thing.

All the "all mankind" Is 66:23 and "Made for Mankind" Mark 2:27 statements by Christ - stand affirmed even by the Bible scholars in almost ALL Christian denominations. When it comes to the TEN including the 4th.

When we look at the New Covenant texts which are Jer 31:31-34 "I will make a NEW Covenant... this IS the Covenant I will make..." also found in Heb 8:6-12 -- with whom does God say He makes it?

Turns out -- it is the SAME group as the Sabbath is targeting.

===========================

That's the easy part of the discussion.

So maybe you are asking how it is that the New Covenant and the Sabbath apply to all...?

You fail because you did not answer the question. But, just reposted what was not convincing the first or third time around.

Mark 2:23-28
Easy-to-Read Version

Jesus Is Lord Over the Sabbath Day
23 On the Sabbath day, Jesus and his followers were walking through some grain fields. The followers picked some grain to eat. 24 Some Pharisees said to Jesus, “Why are your followers doing this? It is against the law to pick grain on the Sabbath.”

25 Jesus answered, “You have read what David did when he and the people with him were hungry and needed food. 26 It was during the time of Abiathar the high priest. David went into God’s house and ate the bread that was offered to God. And the Law of Moses says that only priests can eat that bread. David also gave some of the bread to the people with him.”

27 Then Jesus said to the Pharisees, “The Sabbath day was made to help people. People were not made to be ruled by the Sabbath. 28 So the Son of Man is Lord of every day, even the Sabbath.”

Mark 2:23-28
Good News Translation
The Question about the Sabbath
23 Jesus was walking through some wheat fields on a Sabbath. As his disciples walked along with him, they began to pick the heads of wheat. 24 So the Pharisees said to Jesus, “Look, it is against our Law for your disciples to do that on the Sabbath!”

25 Jesus answered, “Have you never read what David did that time when he needed something to eat? He and his men were hungry, 26 so he went into the house of God and ate the bread offered to God. This happened when Abiathar was the High Priest. According to our Law only the priests may eat this bread—but David ate it and even gave it to his men.”

27 And Jesus concluded, “The Sabbath was made for the good of human beings; they were not made for the Sabbath. 28 So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”

Friend I think you missed the whole point of the passage.

Isaiah 66
Good News Translation
The Lord Judges the Nations
66 The Lord says, “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What kind of house, then, could you build for me, what kind of place for me to live in? 2 I myself created the whole universe! I am pleased with those who are humble and repentant, who fear me and obey me.

3 “The people do as they please. It's all the same to them whether they kill a bull as a sacrifice or sacrifice a human being; whether they sacrifice a lamb or break a dog's neck; whether they present a grain offering or offer pigs' blood; whether they offer incense or pray to an idol. They take pleasure in disgusting ways of worship. 4 So I will bring disaster upon them—the very things they are afraid of—because no one answered when I called or listened when I spoke. They chose to disobey me and do evil.”

5 Listen to what the Lord says, you that fear him and obey him: “Because you are faithful to me, some of your own people hate you and will have nothing to do with you. They mock you and say, ‘Let the Lord show his greatness and save you, so that we may see you rejoice.’ But they themselves will be disgraced! 6 Listen! That loud noise in the city, that sound in the Temple, is the sound of the Lord punishing his enemies!

7 “My holy city is like a woman who suddenly gives birth to a child without ever going into labor. 8 Has anyone ever seen or heard of such a thing? Has a nation ever been born in a day? Zion will not have to suffer long, before the nation is born. 9 Do not think that I will bring my people to the point of birth and not let them be born.” The Lord has spoken.

10 Rejoice with Jerusalem; be glad for her,
all you that love this city!
Rejoice with her now,
all you that have mourned for her!
11 You will enjoy her prosperity,
like a child at its mother's breast.

12 The Lord says, “I will bring you lasting prosperity; the wealth of the nations will flow to you like a river that never goes dry. You will be like a child that is nursed by its mother, carried in her arms, and treated with love. 13 I will comfort you in Jerusalem, as a mother comforts her child. 14 When you see this happen, you will be glad; it will make you strong and healthy. Then you will know that I, the Lord, help those who obey me, and I show my anger against my enemies.”

15 The Lord will come with fire. He will ride on the wings of a storm to punish those he is angry with. 16 By fire and sword he will punish all the people of the world whom he finds guilty—and many will be put to death.

17 The Lord says, “The end is near for those who purify themselves for pagan worship, who go in procession to sacred gardens, and who eat pork and mice and other disgusting foods. 18 I know their thoughts and their deeds. I am coming to gather the people of all the nations. When they come together, they will see what my power can do 19 and will know that I am the one who punishes them.

“But I will spare some of them and send them to the nations and the distant lands that have not heard of my fame or seen my greatness and power: to Spain, Libya,[d] and Lydia, with its skilled archers, and to Tubal and Greece. Among these nations they will proclaim my greatness. 20 They will bring back all your people from the nations as a gift to me. They will bring them to my sacred hill[e] in Jerusalem on horses, mules, and camels, and in chariots and wagons, just as Israelites bring grain offerings to the Temple in ritually clean containers. 21 I will make some of them priests and Levites.

22 “Just as the new earth and the new heavens will endure by my power, so your descendants and your name will endure. 23 On every New Moon Festival and every Sabbath people of every nation will come to worship me here in Jerusalem,” says the Lord. 24 “As they leave, they will see the dead bodies of those who have rebelled against me. The worms that eat them will never die, and the fire that burns them will never be put out. The sight of them will be disgusting to all people.”

In verse 20 it is clear that the people are Israel, not Gentiles.

Easy-to-Read Version
The New Israel
31 This is what the Lord said, “At that time I will be the God of all the tribes of Israel. And they will be my people.”

2 This is what the Lord says:
“The people who escaped the enemy’s sword will find comfort in the desert.
Israel will go there looking for rest.”
3 From far away, the Lord
will appear to his people.

The Lord says, “I love you people with a love that continues forever.
That is why I have continued showing you kindness.
4 Israel, my bride, I will rebuild you.
You will be a country again.
You will pick up your tambourines again.
You will dance with all the other people who are having fun.
5 You farmers of Israel will plant vineyards again.
You will plant the vineyards on the hills around the city of Samaria.
The farmers will enjoy the fruit from the vineyards.
6 There will be a time when watchmen[a] shout this message:
‘Come, let’s go up to Zion to worship the Lord our God!’
Even the watchmen in the hill country of Ephraim will shout that message.”

7 This is what the Lord says:
“Be happy and sing for Jacob!
Shout for Israel, the greatest of the nations!
Sing your praises and shout:
‘Lord, save your people![c]
Save those who are left alive from the nation of Israel.’
8 Remember, I will bring Israel
from that country in the north.
I will gather the people of Israel
from the faraway places on earth.
Some of the people will be blind and crippled.
Some of the women will be pregnant and ready to give birth.
But many people will come back.
9 They will come back crying,
but I will lead them and comfort them.
I will lead them by streams of water.
I will lead them on an easy road,
where they will not stumble.
I will lead them in that way because I am Israel’s father.
And Ephraim is my firstborn son.

10 “Nations, listen to this message from the Lord!
Tell this message in the faraway lands by the sea:
‘God scattered the people of Israel,
but he will bring them back together.
And he will watch over his flock like a shepherd.’
11 The Lord will bring Jacob back.
He will save his people from those who are stronger.
12 The people of Israel will come to the top of Zion,
and they will shout with joy.
Their faces will shine with happiness about the good things the Lord gives them.
He will give them grain, new wine, olive oil, young sheep and cattle.
They will be like a garden that has plenty of water.
And the people of Israel will not be troubled anymore.
13 Then the young women of Israel will be happy and dance.
And the men, young and old, will join in the dancing.
I will change their sadness into happiness.
I will comfort my people, making them happy instead of sad.
14 I will give the priests plenty of food.
And my people will be filled and satisfied with the good things I give them.”
This message is from the Lord.

15 This is what the Lord says:
“A sound is heard in Ramah—
bitter crying and great sadness.
Rachel[d] cries for her children,
and she refuses to be comforted,
because her children are gone.”

16 But the Lord says, “Stop crying.
Don’t fill your eyes with tears.
You will be rewarded for your work.”
This message is from the Lord.
“The people of Israel will come back from their enemy’s land.
17 Israel, there is hope for you.”
This message is from the Lord.
“Your children will come back to their own land.
18 I have heard Ephraim crying:
‘Lord, you punished me, and I learned my lesson.
I was like a calf that was never trained.
Please stop punishing me,
and I will come back to you.
You really are the Lord my God.
19 I wandered away from you.
But I finally realized how wrong I was.
So I changed my heart and life.
I am ashamed and embarrassed
about the foolish things I did when I was young.’”
20 The Lord says,
“You know that Ephraim is my dear son.
I love that child.
Yes, I often criticized Ephraim,
but I still think about him.
I love him very much,
and I really do want to comfort him.

21 “People of Israel, repair the road signs.
Put up signs that show the way home.
Watch the road.
Remember the road you are leaving on.
Israel, my bride, come home.
Come back to your towns.
22 Unfaithful daughter,
how long will you wander around?

“The Lord has created something new in the land:
A woman surrounding a man.[e]”

23 This is what the Lord All-Powerful, the God of Israel, says: “I will again do good things for the people of Judah. I will bring back those who were taken away as prisoners. At that time the people in the land of Judah and in its towns will once again use these words: ‘May the Lord bless you, good home and holy mountain[f]!’

24 “People in all the towns of Judah will live together in peace. Farmers and those who move around with their flocks will live peacefully together in Judah. 25 I will give rest and strength to those who are weak and tired.”

26 After hearing that, I, Jeremiah, woke up and looked around. My sleep was very pleasant.

27 “The days are coming,” says the Lord, “when I will help the family of Israel and Judah to grow. I will help their children and animals to grow too. It will be like planting and caring for a plant. 28 In the past I watched over Israel and Judah, but I watched for the time to pull them up. I tore them down. I destroyed them. I gave many troubles to them. But now I will watch over them to build them up and make them strong.” This message is from the Lord.

29 “People will not use this saying anymore:

‘The parents ate the sour grapes,
but the children got the sour taste.’[g]

30 No, people will die for their own sins. Those who eat sour grapes will get the sour taste.”

The New Agreement
31 This is what the Lord said, “The time is coming when I will make a new agreement with the family of Israel and with the family of Judah. 32 It will not be like the agreement I made with their ancestors. I made that agreement when I took them by the hand and brought them out of Egypt. I was their master, but they broke that agreement.” This message is from the Lord.

33 “In the future I will make this agreement with the people of Israel.” This message is from the Lord. “I will put my teachings in their minds, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 34 People will not have to teach their neighbors and relatives to know the Lord, because all people, from the least important to the most important, will know me.” This message is from the Lord. “I will forgive them for the evil things they did. I will not remember their sins.”

The Lord Will Never Leave Israel
35 He makes the sun shine in the day,
and he makes the moon and the stars shine at night.
He stirs up the sea so that its waves crash on the shore.
The Lord All-Powerful is his name.

This is what the Lord says:
36 “The descendants of Israel will never stop being a nation.
That would happen only if I lost control of the sun, moon, stars, and sea.”

37 The Lord says, “I will never reject the descendants of Israel.
That would happen only if people could measure the sky above,
and learn all the secrets of the earth below.
Only then would I reject them for the bad things they have done.”
This message is from the Lord.

The New Jerusalem
38 This message is from the Lord, “The days are coming when the city of Jerusalem will be rebuilt for the Lord. The whole city will be rebuilt—from the Tower of Hananel to the Corner Gate. 39 The measuring line[h] will stretch from the Corner Gate straight to the hill of Gareb and then turn to the place named Goah. 40 The whole valley where dead bodies and ashes are thrown and all the terraces down to the bottom of Kidron Valley all the way to the corner of Horse Gate will be holy to the Lord.

The city of Jerusalem will never again be torn down or destroyed.”

In context, it speaks of “In the future I will make this agreement with the people of Israel.”

Isaiah 66

22 “Just as the new earth and the new heavens will endure by my power, so your descendants and your name will endure. 23 On every New Moon Festival and every Sabbath people of every nation will come to worship me here in Jerusalem,” says the Lord. 24 “As they leave, they will see the dead bodies of those who have rebelled against me. The worms that eat them will never die, and the fire that burns them will never be put out. The sight of them will be disgusting to all people.”

In verse 20 it is clear that the people are Israel, not Gentiles.

In vs 23 it is ALL mankind - and even in your translation "every nation" -- not just Israel.

23 And it shall be from new moon to new moon
And from Sabbath to Sabbath,
All mankind will come to bow down before Me,” says the Lord.

No doubt some of them will be the "your" of vs 22 -- actual Jews.
