So I found more things Saturday... (not Catholic items)

So it was a rainy day and decided to take a long drive and snoop around. I found a 5 gallon water bottle in a very rickety wooden crate that needed shoring up. Bottle was complete with a dead mummified mouse. Should of took a picture as found but I did not think of it. The pic above is after hubby shored it up for me and I cleaned the bottle. The plan is to clear varnish the crate with all those old rusty nails and do some sort of flower arrangement in it. I’ll take a pic when it’s complete. But here it is after cleaning and strengthening the crate.

The next thing I found was an industrial type sewing machine base (not like the home versions Singer made back in the day. It still has the foot pump and wheel on it. Next I found 2 old cast iron floor heating registers. Hubby is looking for walnut to make a table. We’ll insert the registers in the table top and cover it with glass. Will take a picture when it’s finished. The trivia? I go shopping or find something and that equals project! Lol! Anyway, just wanted to share while finding our way back to our weird normalcy! ;)

By the way, ignore the countertop. We are getting ready to redo the kitchen. Another project! :p

Well? Where's the mouse??
I buried the poor little guy. He got caught in a 5 gallon water jar who knows when? What you are seeing now is when I cleaned the jar and the crate then my husband shored it up after I told him to rearrange the wood. Just varnished the crate this evening. We’ll see how it turns out. But I will not post anymore pics of this till my vision of it is complete. I might post the table pieces sometime tomorrow so there is a before and after. :)

Lol! They are around. Pretty amazing given they are from the 1930’s and not broken! Imagine hauling them on a daily basis back then. I have the original cork with this one. Still scratching my head on how to incorporate it. It was in the bottom of the crate.

Very cool. For years I had my grandparent's egg box. It served as a planter, with a clay pot inside of it.
This looked EXACTLY like it: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/i/273566437670-0-1/s-l1000.jpg

Oh yeah! I’ve had those. Very cool. I planted hen and chicks in mine. (Real ones). Had a very heavy plastic lining from the greenhouse but it could not handle it. Next time I’ll go faux. Makes me sick every time I think about it. I rotted it out with that brilliant idea. It survived all that time and it comes to me and I ruined it. It was really pretty until it just fell apart. They make such real looking succulents anymore, I’m sure I could safely replicate it.

Well, my wife wasn't fond of mine so somewhere along the way it disappeared.

Finished! Started with a spring arrangement and can change it with the seasons. That wood took a ton of varnish. Anyway, here it is in its new life.

So this is the next project. It will go in the kitchen. Found an old ornate wood piece I plan on using on the wall. Bending old silverware and making then into hooks. I’ll post a picture when it’s finished. But this is the before/in the process pics.
