We are now in an exercise that has "gone live". The Illusion of Money goes live on Friday, April 24 at 8 PM Central to counteract this PLANdemic. God's timing is perfect.

I decided to reword this.

The Old Testament has very little to say about what happens in the afterlife. Yet throughout the OT many worshipped and served God, even to the point of execution. So hypothetically speaking if heaven and hell were put aside, would you still follow Jesus?

Answers could be something like "no way, I'm just in this because I don't want to fry" or "yes I would continue to follow Jesus no matter what" to "as long as the church serves coffee and doughnuts, I'm in"
A question of motives? I have often considered this very question because I have feared that my sins were too great for Christ's forgiveness. I loath the person that I am without Christ. The wicked and evil things I have done as a worker of iniquity. Things that I struggled to confess because they were so horrendous that even my confessor might condemn me. I write this response with tears in my eyes and sobs in my chest. Praise Jesus for the Forgiveness He has provided me! I will follow HIM no matter the cost. The promised reward is not my reason for following HIM.

Thank you for asking this question. Bless you!

Without the resurrection, there is no Christianity.

Therefore, without a foundation of the afterlife, Christianity would cease to exist.

Isn't there more to being a Christian than the resurrection? In Acts when thousands turned to Christ it isn't even mentioned by the apostles.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of Christianity.

Without the resurrection, church is just a country club.

Just the other day I thought to myself how thankful I am to have a hope in an afterlife, and all thanks to God, willing to give up His Son. I love you Jesus!

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of Christianity.

This is the tragic response of most Christians on this topic. And no doubt a good cross-section of Christianity in this modern age.

This idea that following Christ, and a relationship with God, has no real value in the here and now without the promise of an afterlife.

John 7:38 NIV
Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”

Without the resurrection, there'd be no one to have the relationship with.

Jesus would just be an imaginary friend.

As usual, you take what you hear wrong. What he said does not deny abundant life in the here and now. What he is talking about is what gives the here and now quality.

What matters to you about your relationship with Jesus here on earth? That's what's being asked.

You got that out of "without the resurrection, church is just a country club"? I didn't.

Not really, I read a post that diminished the significance of the resurrection because the relationship was more important. However, without the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the relationship would not be possible.

I probably wouldn't be a Christian without the resurrection from that angle either.

Without the personal relationship with Jesus, all church becomes is a soulless corporation.
