TURN FROM YOUR WICKED WAY by MARK BALICKI on JANUARY 10, 2017
Some reading this will have experienced what I am about to describe and others who haven’t please use your imagination.

Have you ever gone hiking in a woods for a day just exploring or on a journey to a hunting/fishing site?

Then the hour of the day grows late because you stretched the time in hope you would find what you were looking for. Now the sun has set and only residual light of a darkening sky is left to be your guide.

Feeling a slight anxiousness at the loss of light you turn to head to the place of escape where you entered hours earlier. Now dark shadows fill the places that the light only a few hours earlier illuminated in an unnoticeable way as you were heading to your destination.

You move forward at a quickening pace concentrating to see in the dark tripping over things on the ground as tree branches slap you in the face. Your senses are now heightened hearing different sounds and feeling other unknown entities real or imagined may be around you but your reality is hampered because the darkness blinds you from knowing for sure.

If you know this picture or you can imagine it, this is where we are in a real way in the time line of our story – the human story.

But it isn’t only our story but also God’s story. God’s message has been the light for humanity a hope that kept those who would believe living a life that would allow God to be made know to them.

That message has always been the same, depart from sin draw close to God. God created life and sin has been a destructive choice we have made in trying to live this life given to us apart from the knowledge of God.

Let’s go back to the image of darkness.

Many times, in the history of man, the sun has set and darkness prevailed and we lost our way because we could not see. But morning always came the message of salvation would rise to the full light of day.

Some we know hated the light and loved the darkness because their deeds are evil, we read in the scriptures. Yet another group who were lost and living in the darkness responded to the light of the message and were made glad because now they could see.

Looking back in history, people who believed the message took for granted time and again the light and its source. They soon forgot the necessity of that light and using its ability to direct them into the good things God the creator prepared for them.

Instead of using the light to follow the path out of their own sinful desires, they would soon begin again to run after other things that they thought would be beneficial to them and become trapped.

Through greed, lust, pride and other undesirable behavior people did things in the woods they thought no one would see or find as they fed that desire.

Again, the light is diminishing because the message isn’t being lifted up and we find ourselves alone in the twilight of time.

Some are realizing the hour is late and are trying to get back to the path of life God desired to walk with them on. But many others find themselves lost in the wilderness and the sun is setting and darkness will once again be upon humanity.

John 8:12: Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

John 12:35,36: Jesus replied, “My light will shine for you just a little longer. Walk in the light while you can, so the darkness will not overtake you. Those who walk in the darkness cannot see where they are going. Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.”

John 14-5-6: Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

If you do not know the giver of life please turn from your wicked ways, trust in Jesus and receive everlasting life.
