My Church has been Livestreaming since early last year. Even with the Church being open to a select number of congregants now, they still offer Livestream.

Generally the feed is pretty good. They introduced some new cams a couple weeks ago and my computers (I tried both of mine) kept buffering. I emailed them and they noted they were trying a new system and the servers-which are at the archdiocese offices-haven't been fine tuned yet. They went back to the former single cam (behind the congregation and above where the Choir sits) after that and no more buffering issues.

It's no substitute for attending services, but in these trying times it provides a welcome link.

From when I first became Orthodox, I had the encouragement of my priest to do reader services whenever I am not able to attend liturgy. I suppose it set me up well for the separation caused by covid. I have tried to take part in streaming services at times, but find it hard to not feel like a spectator rather than participant.

When my husband got COVID and we had to quarantine for several weeks, I took advantage of the services. I ended up using our icon censer (tabletop), gathering icons into the room, and lighting candles. It is hard to feel like you are fully participating (you aren’t honestly), so I think it is important to do what you can to join in. After all, Orthodoxy is something to experience with all your senses - and we worship as a community, not individually. It still wasn’t remotely the same though and I was very very glad to be back at the services! I am thankful though that there was a way to participate in some way despite being unable to attend.

If by live streaming you mean YouTube, these will tell you how many people have viewed that service.
Whoever is controlling the livestream will also be able to see where the viewers are from.

Our viewing numbers on a Sunday are consistent with the size of the congregation, but after a week the viewing numbers is often twice to thre times its actual size, with people watching from around the English speaking world.

Talk to who ever sets your system up for a breakdown of the figures.

On line services are better then nothing , but is nothing like being in one's community able to talk and take part in a service.

Not YouTube video, live streaming provides a link in real-time so you can watch the service while it is happening.

YouTube has live streaming as well. We use that real-time.

Our parish has been using the fb live-streaming since the lockdown first began. It definitely helps, if you can’t be there in person. After about two months, we began to have small numbers of people allowed at the services, and since I’m part of the choir, I’m able to attend any service I can get to. We now can have up to 65 people in the nave, and we have an overflow space in our old space (now our fellowship hall). Hopefully soon after Pascha we can open up fully.

I'm fortunate enough that I'll be long enough post-vaccination on Pascha that I can attend without any real concern for the length of time indoors, the crowd, etc.

Our first Liturgy , that people could actually attend, was yesterday and it was full - 16 people plus Father and our Chanter.

I was still at home as I'm only 1 week post 2nd vaccination.

I will be there for Pascha

Both my wife and I have received both vaccinations of Pfizer, but my state is currently leading the nation in new cases of COVID. So, I'm not sure if I'll attend Pascha. The vaccine is effective, but it's not a guarantee. And I understand some of the COVID variations are present in my state now-the effectiveness of the Pfizer vaccine is documented for the original strain of SARS CoV-2, but not for the variations. They think it's effective against them, but they're still collecting data.

Until new cases start to drop I'm playing it safe. I hate to miss Pascha a second year, but it is what it is. I'll Livestream.

Yes, this is a good point, I will have to monitor the situation locally.

I've been livestreaming because I'm new and trying to get a feel for the services before attending, not to mention that churches were closed for a long time where we lived. Now, I'm still doing it because we've been busy moving across two time zones and I'm trying to find a church to attend near our new home.

I'm looking forward to actually going in person eventually, but being able to watch online has been extremely beneficial. Sound is often an issue, but I still get to see what it's like.

We have had livestreaming going on since the beginning of the COVID meltdown. But Father kept liturgies going with precautions taken, so we always attended the liturgies in person. As a result, I don't really use the livestreaming, but I'm glad it's there for the infirm and elderly, etc.
