No argument here, Charles Stanley, John MacArthur, and David Jeremiah are very well grounded...from a Protestant view anyway.

of all televangelists, Dr Stanley is at the top of my list with Dr Tony Evans.

I’ve been watching my DVD’s of the Rockford Files in order. Safe, great car chases, a 74 Firebird, trailer life by the beach, funny answering machine messages, and James Garner. Better than Protestant or Catholic TV with more life lessons ^_^^_^^_^

I must have 500 channels on my cable and 480 of them are junk. Outside of religious broadcasting I watch old TV series from the 1950's and 1960's, occasional old movies and historical documentaries it they are not woke or politically corrupted. I have no movie channels, just basic cable and wireless for my work-from-home requirements. I wish I could prune my package down to 10-20 channels that I watch regularly, but I have the most basic package there is.

I stopped watching national TV news when it became so one-sided I couldn't stand watching it anymore. CNN, MSNBC and even FNC have become so awful at what they are supposed to do it's a waste of time watching them. Once in a rare while I'll watch Fox Business Channel, but even there I can only stand about half the team they have every night.
Do you have high speed internet? Roku is amazing and has so many cool free channels on so many different topics. We haven’t had cable when we were stateside for like 4 years before we moved to Germany. We still don’t have it. One of my favorite things is even if you pay it’s still cheaper than cable, you can choose when and what to watch, and no commercials on paid channels. My opinion is that if it’s a free channel, commercials are a-okay because they have to pay for the channel somehow. Still less commercials than cable though.

Here in the UK, Christian broadcasting has been around for a while, but today it is more widely accessible.

Back in the olden days, we only had analogue TV broadcasting and FM/MW/LW radio which did not really offer much choice. The BBC offered their weekly offering "Songs of Praise" which was, and still is, broadcast every Sunday evening, a half hour programme featuring hymns and songs, stories and testimonies, and a distinctly Christian message from well known and lesser known personalities. "Songs of Praise" has become somewhat of a national treasure and has always been very popular, and well loved by the general public, regardless of whether or not they have a Christian faith. The BBC radio channels were frequently broadcasting various church services, as they had always done in the past. Some, but not all, of the local FM radio stations used to broadcast contemporary Christian music as part of their early morning shows on a Sunday.

It was only in the late 1990s that the UK started to introduce round-the-clock Christian broadcasting. UCB started broadcasting on the MW radio waveband and was the only dedicated Christian radio station that could be heard across the British Isles. Anyone familiar with MW radio will know that its reception waxes and wanes with the weather. Some days I could hear it. Other days I could not. Back in the 90s, I remember coming home after a hard day at work to very cold and undesirable living conditions and, living alone, listening to UCB (when I was able!) gave me a great deal of inspiration and comfort. The programming was very evangelistic and was very much conservative evangelical, but I didn't mind. I loved hearing the music, the scriptures, the testimonies and messages of hope throughout a time in my life that was so difficult.

In the 2000's, technology changed and we moved on from analogue to digital broadcasting. We threw away our old analogue TVs and have new sets with a plethora of new digital channels. Hundreds of them in fact, some of them broadcasting shows with beautiful images, in with ultra high resolution technology. New Christian channels have appeared, such as TBN and Sonlife, available 24 hours a day. Even DAB, the new standard in digital radio technology, has increased the number of stations that can be heard on our radio sets, including the various UCB stations as well as the Premier Radio ones (which I prefer because theologically they seem to appeal to a much wider audience).

If we want to see or hear something, and can't find it on our radio or TV, we can always turn to Youtube. There are plenty of good shows, testimonies and sermons to be found there.

Today, technology has left us completely spoiled for choice!

I have WKRP in Cincinatti :)

I used to work in Christian radio (I'm on a "oldies" pop/rock station now).
I still like listening to some entertaining CCM music. I'm not a fan of CCM since the early 2000s with its shift in focus to evangelical P&W music.
My favorite is the group Iona, a "celtic" progressive rock band.

I watch 'Monk' pretty regularly, it's one of the few concessions to 'modern' TV series that I enjoy. I have OCD to some extent, so I can relate to Monk with his MH issues.

There is a lot of variety on high speed/cable TV today, but most of it is junk. But you are right, the Faith selections are out there if you look for them. I watch 'The 700 Club' on TBN, not that I agree with all of their Evangelical beliefs, but I like their conservative Faith-based approach to current events.

I keep on waiting for the Big Tech moguls to start pulling the plug on Faith based channels, accusing them of 'intolerance' or something along those lines. I think the censoring they have already done is absolutely appalling. Nobody wants to stand up to them, though. These are troubling times, the people with immense power and wealth seem to ride roughshod over the rest of us.

We have a Roku TV in our house. We have a few of their free channels and a couple of subscriptions, and it's all we need. You can find plenty of religious channels on YouTube and other apps through the Roku TV. I've been pretty happy with our setup, and we haven't had cable in fifteen years. I refuse to support the majority of these cable networks and the filth and misinformation they peddle.

No, you just have to buy a Roku TV or a Roku adapter for your current TV. No dish required. It's pretty simple to use, which is another reason I like it. We'll probably keep it forever.

I'll consider it. I really don't watch much TV anymore. Old TV series from the 1960's and 1970's on MeTV, on occasional National Geographic documentary, an older movie now and then. Very rarely I'll watch an athletic event, but not often. I've got the basic cable TV package with no movie channels, if there were a more basic one that cost less I'd go with it. I have been watching some religious broadcasting recently, hence my thread. I almost never watch news programs anymore-never if it's national network news and only very occasional local news. The national network news shows are so biased and agenda driven I can't stand to watch them anymore. Hopefully several of them will go under from lack of viewership.

I am watching orthodox TV channel, but I don't accept everything they said, just like saints, priests and theologians don't know everything.

what kind of wrong stuff do they say?
