The Lord comes to us in these last days and opens up the Scriptures to our hearing ears and minds.

Some will hear His voice as He interprets the Scriptures and will believe in what He says and do good works in response while others who will not believe in what they hear will do evil. Internal Faith is active by showing forth external good works: peace, love, joy, gentleness, etc.

Many will hear and will either lose their “religion”…their own religious thoughts and ways…or they will seek to defend them in the face of the hearing of the Scripture of Truth.

Paul/Saul lost his own "religion" in order to gain the excellency of the knowledge of the Lord Jesus when he heard His voice.

He did not go about seeking to defend his own church works of "righteousness" in contentions towards what he heard the Voice saying.

Philippians 3:6-9 KJV
(6) Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
(7) But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
(8) Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
(9) And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

The “good” works are peace, joy, love, kindness, patience, gentleness, etc. The “evil”: wrath, envy, strife, contentions, false accusations, etc.

One must show forth their faith by good works when the Lord calls us. Faith alone is dead. Our faith is made COMPLETE by our good works especially when we hear His voice as He opens up the Scriptures to our understanding.

James 2:22 KJV
(22) Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

Our works must be found “perfect”…that is, complete…before God when the Lord opens up the Scriptures with the 7 Spirits of God (the fullness of His spirit) toward our hearing ears. Hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

How we handle what we hear Him saying is how we shall be justified or judged in the Day of Judgment.

Professing our faith alone is not enough. We must manifest good works as evidence of our inner faith. We are not “living” by the profession of our faith only as it must be accompanied with good works which is the evidence of that faith.

Revelation 3:1-2 KJV
(1) And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
(2) Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.

Adam and his wife also heard the Voice (Jesus) of the LORD God walking in the garden in the “cool” (that is, SPIRIT) of the Day (the Day of Judgment).

And yet they heard and hid themselves from the presence (FACE) of the LORD God among the “TREE” (singular in Hebrew) of the garden. They did not do good works that show that they know God (thereby hiding from His "face"). We must show that we know God by our good works...the keeping of His commandments... which is evidence of our faith.

Instead, they hid in the midst of the Tree of Life….that is, in the name of it only.

Like some in Sardis, they had a name that they lived but were “dead” as they did not show forth their faith through good works. Faith alone is “dead”.

Genesis 3:8-10 KJV
(8) And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

This is why God called unto Adam and said unto him, “where are you”? Where is his faith? One must not hide faith when we hear His voice speaking to us today. We must show forth it.

(9) And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
(10) And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

We must not hide our faith within us but show forth the outward evidence of our internal faith. Faith alone is dead if it does not have good works also as evidence of that faith.

James 2:17-26 KJV
(17) Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
(18) Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
(19) Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
(20) But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
(21) Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
(22) Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
(23) And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
(24) Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
(25) Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
(26) For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

When we hear that we are really “naked” of good works in our church works, let us not sew fig leaves together …saying “Lord, Lord”….and feel secure in our profession of our faith.

Genesis 3:7 KJV
(7) And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

Adam and his wife felt secure in their profession only of their faith. Yet, they did not produce fruits of righteousness….but only had “leaves”….that is, platitudes of their internal faith...to dress themselves in.

They felt secure in it (made themselves “aprons”) as did the secure-feeling church of Laodicea (which means “people of the judgment”).

The church of the Laodiceans thought of themselves as secure….having need of nothing and yet did not know that they were really “wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked” in the spiritual condition. We must have our "eyes" of our understanding opened by Him and how we respond is how we are justified or judged.

Revelation 3:15-19 KJV
(15) I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
(16) So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
(17) Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
(18) I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
(19) As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Let us not hide our faith as did Adam and his wife.

Let us not be also "afraid" as Adam and hide His "talent" in the earth as the parable in Matthew 25 speaks about. Our faith is given to us by our Father in Heaven. He gives us measures of faith and we must show forth...produce...our faith as has been given us.

Matthew 25:25-26 KJV
(25) And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
(26) His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

Only when we show forth our faith by good works shall we be able to enter into the joy of the Lord....rejoicing in what we hear.

Matthew 25:23 KJV
(23) His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

When the Lord come and opens His mouth to teach us….by the opening up of the Scriptures to our hearing ears…

Matthew 5:1-11 KJV
(1) And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
(2) And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

…then HAPPY (blessed) are the poor in spirit. His "disciples" are those who will do what He says.

The poor in spirit/breath speaks few words. They will use very few words at the hearing of His voice teaching them...at the opening of His mouth. They shall enter in to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven. Outside shall be those who will not hear and believe. They will be quick to hear and slow to speak.

(3) Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
(4) Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
(5) Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
(6) Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
(7) Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
(8) Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Happy are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.

(9) Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
(10) Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
(11) Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

The church in “Philadelphia” has brotherly love towards the “open door”….the open mouth of the Lord that they will hear speaking to their ears.

They will have “little strength”…that is, being poor in words…being poor in breath….poor in spirit. They will keep what they hear (His word) and do it and not deny His authority as King over them. Their good works toward the "open door" of His mouth shall be rewarded.

Revelation 3:7-8 KJV
(7) And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
(8) I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

Only when we can overcome those things that shall hinder us when we hear His voice opening up the Scriptures, then a "door in heaven" shall be opened so-to-speak and then we can enter in to understand those things in the Scriptures.

Revelation 4:1 KJV
(1) After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

Nowhere is faith defined here.

It is faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of one's sin, right standing with God's justice and reconciliation with him.
