First you have several speculations in there.. second you just caused a whole bunch of law abiding people to die because they didn't have any way to protect themselves because they don't have the time or the money to go through the hoops.

Wait...If only law abiding people own weapons, how did the ones who don't own any weapons die?

??? Who said only law abiding people owned guns??

If you can produce some type of magic wand and abbra caddabra only law abiding people would have guns, the death rate would drop exponentially. Not just in the US but anywhere.

Given the suicide rate it might not go down much.

I am curious, if we already have these hoops to jump through, and the law abiding citizens who wish to own a fully automatic firearm may do so if they jump through the hoops, and if the hoops are a demonstrable, proven deterrent for criminals, and such hoops haven't resulted in an increase in Theft of Fully automatic weapons BY criminals, nor have they resulted in the dismissal of the 2nd amendment, what is the objection exactly??

Interesting, but flawed logic. The production and sale of automatics has been curtailed for almost 100 years. Ownership requires a Federal Firearms License.

If you are proposing the over 100,000,000 people who own guns be federally registered - that is where the issue lies.

Excellent thank you!

From the 1st article (that references the 2nd)
since 1934 there are only four known instances of automatic weapons used in crimes where someone was killed. In three of those instances the weapons were legally obtained, with two of them illegally used by law enforcement officers.

In almost 90 years, only 4 times were automatic weapons used illegally to kill people, and two of those times it was Criminal Cops that did the killing.

I would think placed next to the 450 mass shootings per year, that would be cause for a victory celebration and evidence that it IS, by and large, possible to Keep firearms out of the hands of Criminals and only in the hands of Law abiding citizens who wish to practice their 2nd amendment rights.

If we could go from 450 per year to a grand total 4 in 90 years, keeping Guns out of the hands of criminals and only in the hands of law abiding citizens who wish to practice their 2nd amendment rights, why in the world would anyone object to that?

Unless of course its someone who would rather we have 450 mass shootings per year than have 4 in 90 years.....

What does that look like in real life?

There are over 393 million firearms in the United States, and this number only includes civilian-owned firearms, meaning it doesn’t count firearms in possession by the military, government agencies, or by law enforcement.
They are not all registered, nor are all of them traceable. How do you propose to get them out of the hands of someone who has them into a law abiding person's?

If I am hiding the fact I own a weapon, because it is illegal for me to possess it - how do you get it from me?

How is that (in Bold) even possible while the 2nd amendment is still intact?

If you are proposing the over 100,000,000 people who own guns be federally registered - that is where the issue lies.

Because why?
It clearly doesn't erode the 2nd amendment to require federal registration.

Side note.. I just realized in Georgia it's now a felony to hand out water at a polling place, but fully legal to hand out Guns there...

You have a stronger chance for Beyonce to become the next Pope in the Catholic church than you have in repealing the 2nd amendment. The point is dead on arrival.

What does that look like in real life?

In real life it looks like A generational sea shift. It obviously can't happen overnight.

Social Morays and norms change over time... the tide is already headed that direction, changes implemented today would be designed to have far reaching effects, not overnight ones, though a gun buyback, trade your gun for an electric vehicle, could work rather quickly to get a lot of them off the street, we could do nothing , and simply the general growing public disgust with your ammo-sexual lifestyle will continue to have generational shaming effect, as it already plainly has..plenty of kids today have eschewed their parents disgusting ammosexual behavior in favor of a different, less frightened, less fretful, less “us vs them”, path, and have embraced a more inclusive, more Christ like path.
Of course this was all prophesied to happen.
The victory of the Peace of Christ and His gospel in the Christian age cannot be stopped. (Ephesians 3:21, Isaiah 9:7, Hebrews 11:6,32-33, Matthew 16:18-19, Revelation 14:6)

Guns are irrelevant and inconsequential to this prophesied victory.

If I am hiding the fact I own a weapon, because it is illegal for me to possess it - how do you get it from me?

I probably don't get it from you directly, but I first try with financial incentives, and if that doesn't work, I extend those incentives to your progeny and as a society I simply wait you out... you eventually tip over and your kid, grandkid or whatever eventually trades the gun in for an xbox or a Tesla...

All the while I'm waiting you out because I'm society thats gonna keep chugging along after you and your kids, and grandkids, and great grandkinds, and so on, are dead and buried, I'll implement socio/economic policies that reflect the peace and love of Christ, and the unbridled love God Has for this world (John 3:16), that lift up the impoverished, and directly benefit the poor. I'll legalize all drugs and work to eliminate the motivation for a baby born today to grow up in need or in fear so much that they are wanting to do harm to another human just to get something they don't already have or are addicted to... and with that motivation gone, the fear of needing "protection" from those people who now are as rare as a 3 sided penny, vanishes as well....
Time is no object.
That's How.

How do you, Guy who is desperately clinging to his gun today, Stop that societal sea change from happening in the next couple generations???

Why would you want to, even if you could? (BTW, You can't)

You're dreaming. There obviously is no generational change in regards to owning guns. Sales are through the roof. And it's not just conservatives.

Even if she was the new pope, I still wouldn't go back to the Church.
