I'm sorry I don't understand your post. The SDA did not invent the Sabbath, it is a commandment that our God spoke and wrote. If you do not see value in that, nothing I say is going to make any difference. The commandemnt says to keep His seventh day Holy. This is not an SDA thing, it is a commandment from our Savior. I would imagine it hurts Him deeply to see people worshiping Him on a day that is a commandment of the Roman Catholic church and not the commandment He gave us and said is eternal, the true Lord's day, the seventh day Sabbath. The seventh day is His Sabbath day and He commanded us to keep it holy. Genesis 2:1-3 Exodus 20:8-11. When we obey we are showing Him that He is our God, not something changed by man, Jesus even warned us about this. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Mathew 15:9

I want to comment on what you said about losing the Spirit of Christ when keeping the Sabbath. Honestly, this makes no sense. As a Sabbath keeper, on God's Sabbath, I am not focused on all the things I should not be doing. My only focus is on God and having communion with Him on His holy Sabbath. This includes going to church, prayer, studying His Word by myself, sometimes Bible studies with fellow Sabbath keepers, listening to hymns and signing, sharing His Word with others, going on nature walks and admiring all that He has created for us. By keeping His Sabbath holy I am not losing the spirit of Christ, in fact it is the opposite. What I am hearing is a lot of twists and turns to make the Sabbath commandment fit a lifestyle instead of submitting to God's will by keeping His commandment which very clearly says “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Exodus 20:8

God bless

Although the SDA assuredly did not invent the Sabbath, they have given it a unique spin.

I never said the SDA invented the Sabbath. I only state that the Sabbath can only be kept in Christ - not by 'doing' or 'not doing' something on a Saturday. Christ is who keeps the Sabbath Holy.

I do not think God is hurt when people worship Him - regardless of the day. What would anger Him is for people to reject Christ in favor of their own ideas of worship.

The SDA, among other denominations, are guilty of teaching for doctrine the commandments of men. Just because they meet on a Saturday, instead of a Sunday, does not mean they are 'keeping' the Sabbath.

I have no clue what you are referencing in regards to me saying you lose the Spirit of Christ when keeping the Sabbath. Why put words into my mouth that I did not say?

I know it is hard to break away from the teaching of man when it sounds so good to the ears. The command of the Sabbath, the 4th commandment, and all the commands that accompanied it, were all written to point to Christ. They were not written to point us to anything else but Him.

When you see that you will see the life He has for you. If you are being led by the law you are not being led by the Spirit. Only those who are led by the Spirit are His flock.

[1Co 15:56 ESV] The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.

Those who are led by the law are under its power. Christ has set you free if you would choose not to reject Him.

[Gal 3:12-14 ESV] But the law is not of faith, rather "The one who does them shall live by them." Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us--for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree"-- so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.

I think we are going round and round. As others have pointed out, Christ is not obeying God's commandment on our behalf, that would take away our free will. Because you believe in Christ does not keep you from sinning. It's something we have to do, which is why it is called a commandment. The Sabbath is a commandment (to keep Holy- the seventh day) just like thou shalt not lie. Christ can not keep you from lying, its a choice you have to make, just like keeping Sabbath holy. I think you know all this, but at this point it's between you and God. He is the only one we all have to answer to. He asked specifically for us to worship Him on the seventh day, I know you don't think it matters to God, but if that was the case, He would have not commanded us to keep it holy and nor asked we REMEMBER it every seventh day. I honestly think if you do not want to obey it on this earth, not sure it will be enjoyed much by those on the New Earth Isaiah 66:23. God bless

Christ does not obey on our behalf - Christ fulfilled on our behalf.

Belief in Christ does not keep a person from sinning, but the belief that your keeping the law does not keep you from breaking it.

What we have to do is follow the Spirit. The Spirit will not lead us to sin.

The covenant God made with the Nation of Israel was fulfilled in Christ - not by works of the people. The Sabbath is kept holy in Christ - The Commandments pointed us to Him.

Only He could, and only He can, keep the Commandments.

When you turn your back on the Spirit leading in favor of following the law you are under the power of the law - not the power of the Spirit.

One leads to death, the other leads to life.

The ceremonial/ritual aspect of the Sabbath commandment was to point to our rest in Christ. When we rest in Christ, we are obeying the Sabbath commandment. When we do not rest in Christ, we are breaking the Sabbath commandment.

You, imge, doing or not doing something, in your own effort, is not resting in Christ. You are breaking the Sabbath commandment by your very own effort to try and fulfill it.

Basically what you're saying is to stop trying. Put no effort into obeying and see where the "spirit" leads you.

James 1:22 Be doers of the word, and not hearers only. Otherwise, you are deceiving yourselves.

Revelations 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

The Sabbath is a commandment, meaning it is something we are required to do. It is commandment #4. Exodus 20:8-11

Never stop trying to listen to and hear the Spirit leading. He leads, but that also means we have to follow. If we are not following Him, then He is either not leading us(because we do not have the Spirit) or we are following our own way(which encompasses all man's ways).

We do what He leads us to do, we go where He leads us to go. In this, we will always do His commands the way He wants us to do them.

Keeping the Sabbath is a commandment, not the Sabbath itself. We keep the Sabbath when we rest in Christ - He is our Sabbath rest.

What is the Commandment? To rest from our works as God did His on the seventh day.

[Heb 4:10 ESV] for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.

So we need to follow Him, but not obey, despite the plethora of scripture stating otherwise .

The Sabbath commandment does not say we keep the Sabbath when we rest in Christ, it says to keep the seventh day Sabbath holy Exodus 20:8-11 but I am not the one you need to convince.

The you shall not murder commandment does not say we are guilty of murder if we hate our brother - yet we know that it is true because Christ taught us.

Yes, we follow and obey - Him - through the Spirit He has given us.

Otherwise, we do what we think is right in our own eyes in regards to God's law. Only He knows how to keep the law perfect.

When you rest in Him, you are keeping the Sabbath Holy - The Seventh Day of when God rested.

When you do not rest in Him, you are profaning the Sabbath - you are breaking the very thing you think you keep.

God's rest is still available, His grace is still upon us. Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus the Christ.

The spin is that none, absolutely none, of the biblical Sabbath commands are relevant to the SDA. Do the SDA engage in a complete rest on Saturday? Not at all. They engage in nineteenth-century American Protestant religious practices on that day.

The commandment is Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy Exodus 20:8 Resting is only part of the commandment, which means not to work or do labor on God's Sabbath day. I find it interesting you would know how over 20 million people keep God's Sabbath.

Although the SDA assuredly did not invent the Sabbath, they have given it a unique spin.
It is called scripture not spin. What is it in the scriptures shared with you that you do not agree with and why?

What is your definition of rest @imge?
Which rest are you referring to- the 4th commandment where God asked us to keep His Sabbath day Holy and rest from our work or God's rest received when we obey God?

Thanks to @LoveGodsWord here is a detailed explanation

WHAT IS GOD’S REST IN HEBREWS 3 and HEBREWS 4?

HEBREWS 4:1-11
[1], Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
[2], For to us was the gospel preached, as well as to them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
[3], For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
[4], For he spoke in a certain place of the SEVENTH DAY on this wise, And God did rest the SEVENTH DAY from all his works.
5, And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

KEY POINTS FROM THE SCRIPTURES OF HEBREWS 4:1-5

NOTE: Context in Hebrews 4:1-5 is God's Rest from the seventh day Sabbath from the foundation of the world (v4-5) and those who enter Gods rest by and believing and following Gods Word [the gospel] who enter into God's Sabbath rest as God did on the seventh day of the week. The context here defining God’s rest/My rest/His rest is to God’s seventh day Sabbath rest created at the foundation of the world that those who believe or do not believe God's WORD do or do not enter into. The new testament writer of Hebrews is warning us that if we do not believe and follow God's Word (the gospel) and continue in sin and unbelief (Hebrews 3:10-13; 18-19) we will never enter into God's rest (His Rest/My Rest) which is defined as the "seventh day" Sabbath rest in Hebrews 4:1-5. There are two rests here. One is to the rest we enter into by believing and following Gods Word which is our rest and the rest we enter into by believing and following God’s Word to God’s rest which is the seventh day Sabbath. Hebrews 4:3-5 defines God's rest by saying [3], For we which have believed do enter into rest (our rest from or the gospel rest of believing and following God's Word), as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest (God's rest): although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. [4], For he spoke in a certain place of the "seventh day" on this wise, And God did rest the "seventh day" from all his works. [5], And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest ("seventh day").

[6], Seeing therefore it remains that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
[7], Again, he limits a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if you will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
[8], For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
[9] SO THEN, IT REMAINS FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD TO KEEP THE SABBATH.
[10], For he that is entered into his rest, he also has ceased from his own works, as God did from his. [11], Let us labor therefore to enter that rest, [God’s REST the SEVENTH DAY SABBATH] lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief [rejecting God’s WORD and sin; Hebrews 3].

KEY POINTS OF HEBREWS 4:9 (exegesis)

Now notice Hebrews 4, verse 9: “SO THEN, IT REMAINS FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD TO KEEP THE SABBATH.” In verses 1, 3, 4 and 8, the Greek word for “rest” is katapausin. It means “rest.” But in verse 9, the Greek word for “rest” is sabbatismos, which is a Hebrew word—Sabbat, which means “the Sabbath”—combined with a Greek suffix—ismos, which means “a keeping of” or “a doing of.” Put together, sabbatismo means “a keeping of the Sabbath.” When correctly translated, Hebrews 4:9 should read, “There remains therefore a keeping of the Sabbath to the people of God.”

According to the Greek and scripture contexts of Hebrews 3:7-19 and Hebrews 4:1-9, Hebrews 4:9 is in regards to God’s seventh day Sabbath of the 4th commandment which in the context of Hebrews 4:1-5 which defines God’s rest/My rest/His rest (Hebrews 3:11; 18-19; Hebrews 4:1; 3; 5; 10) as the “seventh day” from the foundation of the world *Hebrews 4:3-4.

............

Aramaic Bible in Plain English
Hebrews 4:9 So then, it remains for the people of God to keep the Sabbath.

Lamsa Bible
Hebrews 4:9 It is therefore the duty of the people of God to keep the Sabbath.

................

For your interest, the Greek word used here for Sabbath is Sabbatismos and means a Sabbath keeping or keeping of the Sabbath or how the Sabbath is kept by resting.

Hebrews 4, verse 9: “So then, it remains for the people of God to keep the Sabbath.” or in other translations "There remains therefore a sabbath rest for the people of God". In verses 1, 3, 4 and 8, the Greek word for “rest” is katapausin.

Hebrews 4:9 THEREFORE IT REMAINS FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD TO KEEP THE SABBATH. Why? Because the true seventh day Sabbath rest is a sign of God's true people who God sanctifies to keep all the commandments of God through faith in God's Word *Exodus 31:13; Exodus 31:17; Ezekiel 20:12; Ezekiel 20:20; Revelation 12:17; Revelation 22:14.

................

SUMMARY: God's rest is the "seventh day Sabbath" of creation. Our rest is that of believing and following Gods' Word. No one enters into God's rest (defined in Hebrews as the "seventh day Sabbath") unless they believe and follow Gods' Word (the gospel rest). Of course God's 4th commandment of the 10 commandments (Exodus 20:8-11) are a part of God's Word (the gospel) that God's people who enter into Gods rest believe and follow in Gods' Word just like Jesus did and the Apostles and prophets in Gods' Word. Everything provided here are not my words but have been taken directly from the scriptures which are God's Words not mine (exegesis). The warnings here are very clear. Those who do not believe and follow God's Word in order to continue in a life of known unrepentant sin (breaking anyone of God's commandments - James 2:10-11) just like those in the wilderness do not enter into Gods' rest (seventh day Sabbath) and will be in danger of the judgement to come (Hebrews 10:26-31)

Hope this is helpful.

Is there any way you can condense it down, into what you believe?

Like if someone sitting there beside you asked. Would you just pull up that post and read it to them?

@LoveGodsWord did such a great job going over the details but the summary included simplifies it some. I'm not sure I could explain it any better, but if it doesn't answer your question, let me know. God bless
