Hurrah! The Lord's command for the Christian life.
Jeremiah 23:
5 Behold, days are coming, says the Lord, that I will raise to David a Branch
of righteousness; a King shall reign and prosper and execute judgment and
righteousness in the earth.
6 In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell safely. Now this is His name
by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
To be an executor in covenant, one must keep the Way of the Lord. Christ fulfilled all
Righteousness through the Branch of David, perfecting every covenant between God and man, beginning with Abraham.
Genesis 18:19. For I know him, that he will command his children and his household
after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to execute judgment and righteousness; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
The Stewardship of Abraham in covenant with God was not just in keeping Judgment
and Righteousness, but to take command over all in his sphere of influence by keeping
the Way of the Lord. The Memorials of the Lord must be passed on to the next generation.
The Way of the Lord always includes this Stewardship.
The Lord Will Be Exalted
Isaiah 5:16. But the Lord of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is Holy
shall be sanctified in righteousness.
For the Lord to be exalted in judgment, the Holy Spirit must be involved to counsel
your decision. This is an absolute requirement when passing on the Way of the Lord.
Righteousness requires our sanctification from carnal ideas.
2 Corinthians 3:4 And such trust have we through Christ toward God:
5 not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves;
but our sufficiency is of God.
Clothed in A Righteous Robe
Job 29:14. I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe
and a diadem.
Romans 13:14. Therefore, put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and stop making provision
for the desires of the flesh.
Psalm 106:3. Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that executes righteousness
at all times.
Righteous Judgment In Truth
Isaiah 16:5. In mercy the throne will be established, and One will sit on it in Truth,
in the tabernacle of David, Judging and seeking justice and hastening righteousness.
Isaiah 56:1. Keep justice, and do righteousness, for My salvation is about to come,
and My righteousness to be revealed.
James 2:13. For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy.
Mercy triumphs over judgment.
Jeremiah 33:15. In those days and at that time, I will grow up unto David a Branch
of righteousness; he shall execute judgment and righteousness for the earth.
The scriptures state that we are expected to live in the Way of the Lord, even as faithful Abraham. These are all good passages to describe Jesus' perfections, but what point or question were you making about them?
So in Jesus executing judgment, you weren't referring to Jesus executing the judgment of God's justice, but to the believer not judging falsely?Hurrah!
Righteous Judgment is God's Justice for all, in equity and mercy. So in Jesus executing judgment, you weren't referring to the judgment of God's justice?
Clare73 said:Your OP emphasizes judgment.
God's New Covenant, of which Jesus is the Mediator, is not about judgment.
The New Covenant does not make Jesus an "executor" of judgment.
It makes him the Mediator of its better promises (Hebrews 8:6).
Minister Monardo said:Now that is an odd assessment!
Here is the Lord's command.
John 7:24 Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.
Clare73 said:The Lord's command for the Christian life.

Not getting the connection of this to my question. . .Righteous Judgment is God's Justice for all, in equity and mercy.
Matthew 25:
The Son of Man Will Judge the Nations
31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’44 “Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ 45 Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ 46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
Neither. The believer must keep the Way of the Lord, in executing righteous judgment, asSo in Jesus executing judgment, you weren't referring to Jesus executing the judgment of God's justice, but to the believer not judging falsely?
42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’44 “Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?
From the OP post #1So in Jesus executing judgment, you weren't referring to Jesus executing the judgment of God's justice, but to the believer not judging falsely?
There are clear statements in reference to Abraham, of which standard we hold ourselves. These are all good passages to describe Jesus' perfections, but what point or question were you making about them?
The scriptures state that we are expected to live in the Way of the Lord, even as faithful Abraham.
Genesis 18:19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him,
and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring
upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
You could start here.(1) How are we "to justice and judgment," according to the Bible's description of the "way of the Lord"?
No. Read Galatians 3:15-29(2) Are we going to inherit Palestine, the way the Lord described his purpose in the words following your bold print? In other words, are we always to apply directly to ourselves what is said about Abraham?
David honored his covenant with Jonathan after his untimely death in battle.Sounds like a Jonathan/David covenant (which was never divulged)
Showing kindness to Jonathan's descendants and having them eat at the king’s table isn’t the covenantal relationship.David honored his covenant with Jonathan after his untimely death in battle.
2 Samuel 9:
David’s Kindness to Mephibosheth
1 Now David said, “Is there still anyone who is left of the house of Saul, that I may show
him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”
2 And there was a servant of the house of Saul whose name was Ziba. So when they had
called him to David, the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?” He said, “At your service!”
3 Then the king said, “Is there not still someone of the house of Saul, to whom
I may show the kindness of God?”
And Ziba said to the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan who is lame in his feet.”
4 So the king said to him, “Where is he?”
And Ziba said to the king, “Indeed he is in the house of Machir the son of Ammiel,
in Lo Debar.”
5 Then King David sent and brought him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel,
from Lo Debar.
6 Now when Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, had come to David,
he fell on his face and prostrated himself. Then David said, “Mephibosheth?”
And he answered, “Here is your servant!”
7 So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan
your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and
you shall eat bread at my table continually.”
Now I am curious as to which covenant you are referring, since you were applying this to the thread.Sounds like a Jonathan/David covenant (which was never divulged)
He wanted to act in a way that is pleasing to God. Much discussion has evolved over the statement3 Then the king said, “Is there not still someone of the house of Saul, to whom
I may show the kindness of God?”
