The trial of Derek Chauvin is in the headlines today as his trial for the killing of George Floyd starts.
That's true, but immediately after the incident and continuing for some time afterwards, it was well-publicized with his name, the alleged offense he'd committed, plenty of speculation about trials, and lots of pictures, etc. And then it picked up again more recently.

Innocent people are being attacked simply because of their appearance. I don't understand how Christian thinking and/or belief can figure into this kind of logic.

Jesus told us to love our neighbor as our self. Period.
An impassioned response to something other than what was being discussed. :sigh:

The Bible also has several books dedicated to wisdom and not to be a fool or led by your emotions. Hate crimes against yellow Americans are within their norms for the last few decades. The so-called spike you hear about is lying by omission; San Diego, a city of 1_400_000 experienced a jump in hate crimes against them: from zero in 2019 to one in 2020. That's how they get these of double or double and a half. Chicago stayed the same, two and two, respectively, in a city of 2.3 million. For violent crime over-all yellow Americans experience one of the lowest per-capita rates, lower than whites, blacks, and IIRC also hispanics of all races.

So, it is a flap that Asian-Americans believe they are mistreated because they have Asian ancestry?
Mistreated by who?......the democrats?.......remember all the Japanese Americans who were imprisoned by FDR......without cause......without charges......who lost homes and businesses......

Why do you have to put a label on people??? "asian" Is irrelavant to being a patriot...

You'd have to ask the people labeling him.

I was speaking of the sudden "crisis" we're being told about of Asian-Americans allegedly being a prime target of violent white supremacists, etc. etc.

It definitely is manufactured. It's pretty much an outright lie. Matt Christiansen breaks down the numbers

Matt Christiansen doesn't "break down the numbers." He ignores broader trends in overall crime (which was much higher in the 90's when he starts his chart) and acts as if the recent uptick is a-okay.

And as to why this is news now - it's because people are speaking up now.

No, that is an out right lie.....the only Asian country that anyone points a finger at is China.....

And yet, unsurprisingly, the folks who'd hurl covid-themed insults at folks of Asian descent fail to make the distinction between Chinese nationals, Americans of Chinese descent, and others of non-Chinese East-Asian descent. My pastor and his wife are of Korean descent and he and his kids have both been on the receiving end of covid comments.

Which is no different from the people hyping this as some sort of crisis. They have invented classifications and jargon which everyone is supposed to use when speaking of this alleged development, and those lump all Asians into the same category.

It is they, more than anybody else, who "fail to make the distinction."

Oh?? Did you watch the video? Did you read the article?
He said: "People question my patriotism, that I don't look American enough."

What people is he talking about? I don't live there and don't know the guy so I certainly have never done that. And you will find truly bigoted racists everywhere you go anywhere in the world where races mix - against every race. They are not, however, the norm. They are now the outliers - at least in the US.

My take on the whole thing is if a community is not suffering from racism, it's because there is not a lot of race mixing there. If there are only 10 black guys in a city, the city is not considered "racist" even if those ten guys suffer massive racism and the culture is truly xenophobic.

Matt is not the most "dramatic/entertaining" commentator on the internet, but I consider him the best.

I think the only reason all his videos don't end in a mic-drop is because that looks like a pretty expensive and delicate mic. :)

The funny part: I saw this as not an attack on asians, but an attack on "massage parlors". And guess what, right there in the video that is what the police say the perp said was his motivation because of his "sex addiction" and the police do believe that was the motive.

Of course, that doesn't focus on the CNN message. On a side note, how are their ratings these days? :D

I just finished it. As usually, it's a winner. BTW, my second favorite site for this is almost comical due to its source. A couple of house painters.

They don't have a video specifically on this one, but be assured they will. I'm just putting them on your radar if they are not yet. Two guys, one older and one younger that each present videos separately.

Pointing out "anti-Asian racism" isn't the same as lumping together all Asian, but thanks for the gaslighting.

Then you either have low standards or haven't looked around much, because his take was mediocre at best. Every podcaster I've listened to from Vox is an order of magnitude more insightful than that guy, even on their off days.

More entertaining, yes. More insightful, nope. Then again, opinions vary. I don't take vox seriously. Well, not as seriously as HuffPo, who I don't take very seriously at all. And don't even get me started on Don Lemon and the rest of the CNN crew.

There is a lot of "preaching to the choir" going on from both sides, but to someone willing to actually listen to the facts they present, followed by their commentary on the facts, there is no comparison.

In fact, just watch Laura Ingraham handle an issue both with her monologue and her guest interviews. Then watch Don Lemon attack the same issue. It's like watching a seasoned pro followed by watching the local high school closed circuit "broadcast".

Same with this vs Vox.

But again, Opinions vary.

And give https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCd13O3aKVIhsFpbHt0vmFFA a try. :)

I don't know who you're listening to on Vox, but what you described doesn't accurately describe what I've heard at all. This recent Weeds episode on gun control and hate crimes is hardly an example of "preaching to the choir":

Laura Ingraham of hydroxychloroquine and David Hogg controversy? She's a wannabe Hannity without the stomach to really go off the deep end. And I couldn't give two hoots about Don Lemon.

You mean this in which he calls racism nearly extinct and is apparently oblivious to the widely known problems with libertarianism? Where he holds up the old fantasy that conservatives hold to reality and let bad ideas die?

Sure, he seems less reactionary than some, but none of that was insightful or particularly well-informed.
