That's where the definition came from (I used Oxford Dictionary) You're just cherry picking a partial definition which you prefer.

Try Collins as another example:
ADJECTIVE
1. refusing to obey authority, custom, regulation, etc.; stubbornly defiant
2. hard to handle or deal with
NOUN
3. a recalcitrant person


ETA: This is an example of how to back up an argument. You take a position and you provide supporting evidence. It's noticeable that @JohnEmmett has not done that a single time in this thread.
