THE COVID-19 VACCINES AND ABORTED FETAL CELL LINES
The use of aborted fetal cell lines is an ongoing moral problem and all COVID-19 vaccines available in the United States at this time continue the promotion of abortion in their development and research. The media and various outlets have told the public that the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are ethical because fetal cell lines are said to be used only in testing. However this judgement can only be justified through the previously described disoriented and humanistic cosmic-view. These two vaccines still use an aborted fetal cell line in testing and if one is to accept the “ethical” stance provided by our post-Christian culture, one must also concede to the continued use of cells originating from an aborted child. Orthodox Christians should not be complacent in this matter and should hold zero tolerance in the use of aborted children in research. In all cases, the COVID-19 vaccines available rely on this unfortunate and horrific crime. Below are the current vaccines available and their information14:
Moderna and Pfizer mRNA Vaccines
• Fetal cell line: The HEK293 cell line originated
from a healthy aborted female child in the 1970s,
age unknown.
• Did Moderna and Pfizer use the HEK293 fetal cell
line in research? Yes, they did in the research
and development of the vaccine. They used the
HEK293 cell line for testing the vaccine.
AstraZeneca Adenovirus-Vector-Based Vaccine
• Fetal cell line: The HEK293 cell line originated
from a healthy aborted female child in the 1970s,
age unknown.
• Did AstraZeneca use the HEK293 fetal cell line
in research? Yes, they did in the research and
development of the vaccine, as explained in
from July 2020 in Nature journal. To propagate
the virus in the HEK293 cells means to grow it
in them. They will need to do this in ongoing
manufacturing.
• Does AstraZeneca use the HEK293 fetal cell line in
manufacturing? Yes, see above, the viral vaccine
is propagated (grown) in the cell line.
Johnson & Johnson Adenovirus-Vector-Based Vaccine
• Fetal cell line: AdVac® technology uses PER.C6® cell line originating from a healthy 18-week-old aborted child.
• Did Johnson & Johnson use the PER.C6 fetal cell
line in research and production? Yes, they did in
the research and development of the vaccine,
as explained in July 2020 in Nature journal
and September 2020 also in Nature journal. To
propagate the virus in the PER.C6 cells means
to grow it in them. They will need to do this in
ongoing manufacturing.
CONCLUSION
St John Chrysostom clearly defined the ethical values of Christianity. It is clear that these are unchanging and the dominant culture today has adopted fundamentally different values, creating a climate that constantly bombards the Orthodox way of life. One can starkly perceive the contrast between these two worldviews, and the tension between them, when one considers how each places value on human life. God has maintained His Church in fullness as the
“faith which hath made firm the whole world.”15 This means that the Orthodox Faith is not just a moral code or even a way of life, but it is the Truth on which all principles of life are founded and it concerns itself with the holistic healing of the human person. For the Orthodox Christian, homicide can never be seen as the source of man’s healing and it is fundamentally opposed to the principles of Faith, which hold the world firm. Biomedicine is furthering its use of abortion for research in the continual harvesting of the body parts of children, such as the newest cell line WALVAX 2 created in 2015 from the lung tissue of an aborted female.
Why do I feel snarkiness here?
It is likely snark. We all will will need to defend themselves before the Lord our God, and with these choices, state why we partook of abortion tested carved up organs of a baby, chopped up lungs, chopped up hearts, chopped up tongues, used for a 1% death rate virus. We will need to defend ourselves if we promote locking churches down for the good of secular authorities, defend ourselves if we state that the early Church Fathers are wrong and misinformed and "limited" because of time, defend ourselves if we state that the Theotokos and Jesus Christ evolved from monkeys, if we think that Bishops are infallible in innovations rather then responsible for upholding the faith once delivered, and all traditions from the Holy Fathers.
Homily on the Triumph of Orthodoxy, St. Ignatius (Brianchaninov)
From a Homily on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy. St. Ignatius (Brianchaninov)
The word
anathema means severance, rejection. When the Church anathematizes a teaching, it means that that teaching contains blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, and for the sake of salvation it should be rejected and removed, as poison is removed from food. When a person is anathematized, it means that he has irreversibly adopted a blasphemous teaching, and through them deprives himself and those near him, to whom he has imparted his line of thought, of salvation. When a person has made the commitment to abandon the blasphemous teaching and to receive the teachings upheld in the Orthodox Church, he is obligated, according to the rules of the Orthodox Church, to anathematize the false teaching that he formerly upheld, which was destroying him, alienating him from God, keeping him locked in enmity against God, in blasphemy against the Holy Spirit and communion with satan.
