Hi there,

So the Lord was sharing with me, what His sense of humour is: it's exhaustingly less than was expected.

For example, "They said 'get in shape'... well, round is a shape" - God finds that funny.

If I am inspired with a joke that would make God laugh, I will post it here...

One must remember that God is God of all people, ... even the comically disadvantaged ...

I don't know. I just asked him and he replied get in shape as in loosing weight as in one is big and round shaped.....He said, "Nope. That's no laughing matter!" Get it? All things are made by matter?

Of course God has a sense of humor. Example: the platypus. I mean come on. A mammal , that lays eggs, has a duck bill with electrical sensory nerves, a beaver tail, and poison claws? Oh and the babies walk on two legs. Either he has a sense of humor, or he got done with creating animals and had leftover parts.

On the rode to Emmus is another example. He walked miles with them asking them with a straight face about what happened during Passover that year. It was only after He broke bread they recognized him and he disappeared. How He kept a straight face is because He is Divine, and I always love visualizing that event in my head.

I wonder if His audience at the time saw some humor in some of His sayings.

Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. ( 3 stooges style slapstick imagery)

And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. (Seinfeld style hyperbole)

Also I wonder if Jesus at least in one instance was taking a good humored jab at Matthew when ripping on tax collectors. Sort of like if a contemporary pastor was to make a joke about an IRS agent in the flock.

I also recall that, sometime after the following episode, He referred to disciples James and John ... as the "sons of thunder" ...

Luke 5

51 Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem, 52 and sent messengers before His face. And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans, to prepare for Him. 53 But they did not receive Him, because His face was set for the journey to Jerusalem. 54 And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?”

55 But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. 56 For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.

Since we were made in the image of God, I have to think he has a sense of humor much like ours.

I figure the only reason it doesn't come out in the bible is because salvation and eternity are serious business.

Either way, hopfully for all of us, we shall see.

Mark 3:17 And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder:

Well not God specifically, but Samson. After he killed the 1000 Philistines with a donkey jawbone, one translation of what he said is, “With the jawbone of an ass I have made asses of them.”

I always like the irony of Titus 1:12
"One of their very own prophets said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.”

Note this a Cretan saying all Cretans are liars...hmmm
