Do the 2 Cor.11, and 2 Thess.2 examples of a false one follow this same context, with a singular antichrist, and his workers as the many antichrists? Yes. In 2 Cor.11, Paul points to the "another Jesus" compared with false apostles. He then links it with Satan disguising himself as an angel of light, and his ministers as the ministers of righteousness. In 2 Thess.2, the false one there is to come to Jerusalem and sit in a rebuilt temple proclaiming himself as God, and over all that is called God, or that is worshiped. And then Paul mentions just a little later there that the "mystery of iniquity" is already at work, which is about the "many antichrists" John mentioned.

I was going to spend some time on this section of your post but did not think it was necessary in light of everything shared with you in the previous posts on the last page. If you want to discuss these scriptures in detail I am more then happy to do so as they also support what has already been shared with you from the scriptures in the previous posts to plural application of ψευδόχριστοι.

God bless

imo, the Bible uses the word gospel in different ways in different places. Jesus preached the gospel of the Kingdom towards the beginning of his ministry, but that might not have been the same thing that Paul defines as the gospel in Corinthians.

In the last chapter of Acts, Paul is preaching the kingdom of God. There’s no separate kingdom for the Jews and plan B for gentiles. Both enter the kingdom by faith in Jesus as Messiah.

I think your first question is valid for the topic you speak of, but I don't care to participate in the other questions, which aren't on topic of this thread, and may only be in order to express an SDA view of Scripture.

This is a side-step from the focus of the thread, but I wanted to address your comment.

Isn't any Christian's scriptural interpretation a view of scripture? Views of scripture abound, but there's only one truth.

The SDA view of scripture is simply that scripture is the truth. We aren't alone in this respect. Other denominational and non-denominational Christians alike put importance on scripture too and have their own views.

We SDA are quite vocal, because all Christians are called to share the testimony of Jesus. If SDA beliefs didn't align with scripture (and we didn't honestly believe so), we wouldn't be SDA; we put that much importance on scripture.

The beauty of scriptural debate is that any of us can be proven wrong and be corrected. That includes SDA. If I'm wrong in my belief, I want to know what's right, even if it means my chosen denomination is wrong.

Truth has no denomination.

Do what you want concerning days, but the rest of us don't want to be labeled as heretics because we go to church on Sunday instead of Saturday, or eat bacon:

Acts 15 speaks about placing requirements upon Gentile believers - notably it does not include "Keeping the Sabbath" as a requirement. Romans 14 specifically says that not observing specific days (like the Sabbath) is not something to be corrected.

No where in the Epistles is anyone corrected for not meeting on the Sabbath day (Saturday). Although Hebrews 10:25 says "forsake not the assembling of ourselves together", there is no mention of a particular day in the week. The list of the "works of the flesh" in Galatians 5:19-21 does not include skipping the Sabbath - although traces can be made from that list to the other nine commandments.

Colossians 2:16 says "let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths".

These verses have already been addressed extensively in other threads (by myself and others), so I won't derail the thread with a long discussion on the Sabbath.

Quoting scripture and pointing out context isn't calling someone a heretic.

Hi John nice to see you again. I do not think anyone is labeling anyone here that I have seen or I am aware of as far as I know. I do not mind addressing these claims of yours however below as there is nothing you have provided here that says Gods' 4th commandment of the 10 commandments is now abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day of rest. Some comments are posted below if not for you others may be interested.
Acts 15 speaks about placing requirements upon Gentile believers - notably it does not include "Keeping the Sabbath" as a requirement.
Acts 15 is silent about the Sabbath just as it is about committing murder, lying, stealing, committing adultery, using God's name in vain, coveting your neighbors belongings, and worshiping other God's. This is because Acts 15 was never over the question of "Are the ten commandments a requirement for Christian living?" The question that Acts 15 was discussing was "Is circumcision a requirement for salvation for new gentile believers?" This is clearly shown in Acts of the Apostles 15:1-2 and this was the question Paul and Barnabas when to Jerusalem to discuss as shown in the scriptures. To have an interpretation of Acts 15 that God's 10 commandments are not a requirement for gentile believers contradicts most of the new testament scriptures and the teachings of Jesus and the Apostles who all kept the Sabbath and taught others to keep God's 10 commandments (scripture support here). Having the interpretation that Acts 15 was over the 10 commandments and not circumcision as it is written in Acts of the Apostles 15:1-2 also makes Paul a hypocrite when he goes to the Corinthians believers not long afterwards and says "Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God." in 1 Corinthians 7:19. According to the scriptures, Acts 15 has nothing to do with if God's 10 commandments are a requirement for Christian living. It was about if the Mosiac "shadow law" was a requirement for salvation for new gentile believers. The answer was no as they would continue learning God's Word every Sabbath *Acts of the Apostles 15:19-21.
Romans 14 specifically says that not observing specific days (like the Sabbath) is not something to be corrected.
Romans 14 says nothing at all about the Sabbath of God's 4th commandment and the subject matter has nothing to do with God's 10 commandments whatsoever. It is about eating and not eating (fasting) on days that men esteem over other days not what days God esteems and judging others in this regards. According to the scriptures the things that men esteem are an abomination to God (Luke 16:15). There is no mention at all in all of Romans 14 about Gods' 4th commandment and to suggest otherwise is to read into the scriptures what the scriptures do not say anywhere and do not teach. This practice of reading into scripture what it does not say or teach is called eisegesis and is not biblical.
No where in the Epistles is anyone corrected for not meeting on the Sabbath day (Saturday).
That would be because everyone was keeping the Sabbath as shown in the scriptures *Matthew 12:1-8; 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56; John 2:6; Matthew 16:24; Acts of the Apostles 13:14; 13:27; 13:44; 15:21; 16:13; 17:2; 18:4.
Although Hebrews 10:25 says "forsake not the assembling of ourselves together", there is no mention of a particular day in the week. The list of the "works of the flesh" in Galatians 5:19-21 does not include skipping the Sabbath - although traces can be made from that list to the other nine commandments.
Why would there need to be a scripture here about assembling on the Sabbath? According to the scriptures they were already doing so (see previous section) Hebrews 4:9 THEREFORE IT REMAINS FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD TO KEEP THE SABBATH.
Colossians 2:16 says "let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths".
Colossians 2:16 as shown earlier through the within scripture and chapter contexts is to the annual ceremonial "shadow sabbaths" in the Feast days not God's 4th commandment.

These ceremonial sabbath(s) and days of holy convocation excluding work (sabbaton) included…

(1) Feast of Unleavened Bread (first and last day) *Leviticus 23:6-8
(2) Feast of Trumpets *Leviticus 23:24-25
(3) Day of Atonement *Leviticus 23:27-32
(4) Feast of Booths *Leviticus 23:34-36
(5) Feast of First Fruits *Leviticus 23:39
(6) Feast days of Holy convocation of no work *Leviticus 23:7-8; 21;24; 27; 35-36
(7) Sabbath rest of the land (7-year cycle) *Leviticus 25:2
(8) Sabbath of Jubilee culminating of the 7x7 yearly cycles sabbaths *Leviticus 25:9-54

All of the above of course were different to God’s 4th commandment and could fall on any day of the week unlike Gods’ 4th commandment which is strictly every ) “seventh day” of the week.

These are the "shadow" sabbaths that Paul is referring to above not God's 4th commandment of the 10 commandment that gives us a knowledge of what sin is when broken. These were to be fulfilled in the new covenant promise as the annual Feasts days and days of holy convocation all pointed to Christ as our Passover sacrifice for the sins of the world *1 Corinthians 5:7-8.

Let's now look at the old testament scriptures that Paul is referring to in Colossians 2:16 noting the order and scripture context which is to the meat and drink offerings, and the new moons and sabbaths in the annual Feast days...

COLOSSIANS 2:16 [16] Let no man therefore judge you in (1) MEAT, or in DRINK, or in respect of an (2) HOLYDAY [FEASTIVALS], or of the (3) NEW MOON, or of the (4) SABBATH DAYS <plural GNP>

PAUL'S within scriptures CONTEXT and use of COLOSSIANS 2:16-17 is in reference to the OLD TESTAMENT scriptures.

EZEKIEL 45:17 [17] And it shall be the prince's part to give BURNT OFFERINGS, and (1) MEAT OFFERINGS, and DRINK OFFERINGS, in the (2) FEASTS, and in the (3) NEW MOONS, and in the (4) SABBATHS, in all solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel.

NUMBERS 28 [9] And on the Sabbath day two lambs of the first year without spot, and two tenth deals of flour for a MEAT OFFERING, mingled with oil, and the DRINK OFFERING thereof: [10] This is the burnt offering of EVERY SABBATH, beside the continual BURN'T OFFERING, and his DRINK OFFERING.

ISAIAH 1:10-14 [10] Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.[11] To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I AM FULL OF THE BURNT OFFERINGS of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.[12] When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?[13] BRING NO MORE VAIN OBLATIONS; incense is an abomination unto me; THE NEW MOONS AND SABBATHS, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.[14] Your NEW MOONS and your APPOINTED FEASTS my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.

LEVITICUS 23:4 [4] These are THE FEASTS OF THE LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. [5] In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is THE LORD'S PASSOVER. [6] And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the Lord: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread…… [13] And the MEAT OFFERING thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto the Lord for a sweet savour: and the DRINK OFFERING thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of an hin.

HOSEA 2:11 [11], I will also cause all her mirth to CEASE, HER [ISRAEL'S] FEAST DAYS, her NEW MOONS, and HER SABBATHS, and all HER [ISRAELS] SOLEMN FEASTS.

Note in HOSEA the prophecy to put an end to all the end to all the annual feasts and in all the above scripture applications that link directly to Colossians 2:16, the sabbaths being referred to here are always applied the annual feast days, meat and drink offerings, and the new moons? So the scripture context is to the annual sabbaths in the feast days that are shadows of things to come. As shown earlier these annual ceremonial sabbaths or days of holy convocation included (1) Feast of Unleavened Bread (first and last day) *Leviticus 23:6-8 (2) Feast of Trumpets *Leviticus 23:24-25 (3) Day of Atonement *Leviticus 23:27-32 (4) Feast of Booths *Leviticus 23:34-36 (5) Feast of First Fruits *Leviticus 23:39 (6) Feast days of Holy convocation of no work *Leviticus 23:7-8; 21;24; 27; 35-36

.................

CONCLUSION: WHAT IS PAUL REFERRING TO IN COLOSSIANS 2? Well of course it is the ceremonial “shadow laws” and the annual ceremonial shadow sabbaths in the annual Feast days from the Mosaic book of the law (Leviticus 23) not God's 4th commandment weekly Sabbath of the 10 commandments. The chapter context of Colossians 2:11-17 is to “circumcision” and “baptism” and the blotting out of the “ordinances that were against us” that were all “shadows of things to come v17. So there is nothing about Gods 10 commandments being referred to in Colossians 2 and the sabbaths are those connected directly to the annual Feast days not God's weekly Sabbath connected solely to the "seventh day" of every week as a memorial of creation *Exodus 20:8-11.

..............

So in summary John there is not a single scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's Sabbath commandment of the 10 commandment has been abolished and we are not commanded to keep Sunday or the first day of the week as a Holy day of rest. As shown earlier this is a man-made teaching and tradition handed down from the Roman Catholic Church to Protestantism today that has led many either knowingly or unknowingly to break God's commandments. Jesus says in Matthew 15:3-9 that if we knowingly follow man-made teachings and traditions that break the commandments of God we are not worshiping God. Our God is a Spirit and those who worship Him must worship him in Spirit and in truth according to Jesus in John 4:23-24. So who should we believe and follow John, God or man? - Romans 3:4; Acts of the Apostles 5:29?

Hope this is helpful.

Q1. What is the true gospel? (linked)
It's a very strange and novel teaching, and one that the church never taught, that maintains that Jesus did not teach the gospel of His New covenant throughout His entire ministry. The true gospel is that man must come to know, believe in, trust, and ultimately love the true God, revealed by Jesus Christ. When we we believe in Jesus, in everything He said and did, we believe in that God. To know that God is to have eternal life (John 17:3). Man was made for communion with God and is lost, sick, dead without it, without Him. "Apart from Me you can do nothing" (John 15:5). We enter that relationship via faith. And that relationship must produce authentic righteousness, i.e. love, in man and will do so as long as we remain in Him and He in us. In this way the law is fulfilled.

"Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. But you know that He appeared so that He might take away our sins. And in Him is no sin. No one who lives in Him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen Him or known Him" (1 John 3:4-6).

"For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous" (Rom 2:13).

Q2. Why has God given us His grace for? (linked)
Without grace we're without God. Man can do nothing on his own, including fulfill the law, which is why the law cannot justify us. Only God can do that, only God can make us right by placing His law in our minds and writing it on our hearts. (Jer 31:33). Grace not only pardons us from past sins, but empowers us, by the Spirit, to 'go and sin no more.'

Q3. What is sin (linked)
Sin is to fall short, to miss the mark, to choose the "lesser good". Sin is intrinsically opposed to the will of God; it's out of line with His perfect wisdom for us and as such is always an anomaly in His creation. Ultimately no sin/evil will be allowed to prevail in God's universe.

Q4. Can we receive God's salvation and grace if we do not know what sin is?
Q5. Does God's law lead us to God's Grace if so how it not why not?
The law teaches us what sin is-and should convict us of sin as we fail to fulfill it. Sin confirms the truth of the law-and should help drive us away from evil and toward the good, towards God when He comes calling, who, alone, can fulfill the law in us, freeing us from the slavery of sin.

Q6. Can we have Gods' grace without God's law?
For the establishment of the New Covenant the law had to come first, paving the way for grace. But for the individual it's possible to obey the law without hearing it, man having had that law written in his heart at the beginning, so yes, grace is available apart from the law. But the formal way God has provided for man to find grace is via His new covenant. And the law, by increasing sin, actually ends up drawing more grace to us, as grace is God's antidote for the sin that the law convicts us of.

Q7. What is the purpose of God's law (10 commandments) in the new covenant?[/QUOTE]
To continue to show us what love "looks like" until we're perfected in love by the grace God pours out into us.

Your OP Title says 'Another Gospel'. It is laughable for someone to say that going to church on Sunday instead of Saturday or eating bacon constitutes 'Another Gospel'. Focus point: Read Acts 2 to observe the presentation of the Gospel.

Repeat: Colossians 2:16 says "let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths".
Acts 15 is silent about the Sabbath just as it is about committing murder, lying, stealing, committing adultery, using God's name in vain, coveting your neighbors belongings, and worshiping other God's.
There is nothing in the Epistles against meeting on Sunday vs Saturday. These other things you mention here, like murder, are condemned in the Epistles as works of the flesh as I stated earlier in Galatians 5:19-21.

As shown earlier this is a man-made teaching and tradition handed down from the Roman Catholic Church to Protestantism today that has led many either knowingly or unknowingly to break God's commandments.
Don't conflate RCC traditions with arguments on which days one goes to church.

Don't conflate RCC traditions with arguments on which days one goes to church.

Verses 8 and 18-23 of the same chapter is the context.

Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Colossians 2:18-23 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God. Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, (Touch not; taste not; handle not; Which all are to perish with the using) after the commandments and doctrines of men? Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body: not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

Verse 16 is talking about not letting men judge you in obeying God's law. It doesn't change the law, nor does it say anywhere in this chapter that you can decide for yourself that God's Sabbath is on Sunday (see vain deceit, tradition of men, rudiments of the world; not after Christ).

The very thing the chapter is cautioning against, you're using verse 16 to support—following the tradition of men.

Jesus amplified the Sabbath throughout His ministry, in death and even in heaven.
  • He gave the law to Adam and Eve, starting with the Sabbath rest after creation, on the seventh day. Genesis 2:1-3
  • He gave the law to Moses on Mt. Sinai, written in stone twice and put inside the ark of the covenant, the mercy seat of God. Exodus 20:8-11, Exodus 24:12, Exodus 31:18
  • He obeyed the Sabbath, as was His custom, going to the synagogue to read. Luke 4:16
  • Jesus made it clear that the law is not changed. Matthew 5:18
  • All the law and the prophets hang on love. Matthew 22:40
  • Jesus said if you love Him you will keep His commandments. John 14:15
  • He died on Friday before Sabbath, rested in death on the Sabbath day, then rose after Sabbath on Sunday. Matthew 27, Matthew 28
  • He mentioned the Sabbath as still being observed (as per Exodus 20:8-11) at the start of the tribulation. Matthew 24:20-21
  • Sabbath was made for man. Mark 2:27
  • The seventh day Sabbath is His sign. Exodus 31:13
  • The seventh day Sabbath is a perpetual covenant. Exodus 31:14-17
  • Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath. Matthew 12:8
  • The seventh day Sabbath is the Seal of God. Revelation 14:6-12, Exodus 20:8-11, Exodus 31:13
  • The Sabbath will be observed in heaven. Isaiah 66:23
  • God doesn't change. Malachi 3:6
  • Jesus doesn't change. Hebrews 13:8
Overwhelming evidence.

Romans 14:5-6 pairs nicely with Colossians 2:16. Yes, let no man judge you:

Romans 14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. 6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.
Also concerning SDAs not eating bacon, I do not judge you:

Romans 14:1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. 2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

Yes SDAs are prepared in pushing their positions - like flat-earthers against people like myself who specialize in GPS. It just doesn't pass the reason or sniff test.

There is a test to know if someone is sharing the truth of God's Word and it is not a "sniff test" according to the scriptures. It is the Word of God and the Word of God it is that decides if what something someone is sharing is true or not true according to the scriptures *2 Timothy 3:16; 1 John 4:1; 1 John 2:3-4. According to the scriptures in the last days there will be many false Christs and prophets that if it were possible they should deceive Gods' very elect. So we are admonished in the scriptures to examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith or not *2 Corinthians 13:5. As the scriptures teach us only Gods' Word is true as we should believe and follow them over the teachings and traditions of men that break the commandments of God in Matthew 15:3-9 the question we should all be asking ourselves is who do we believe and follow; God or man? *Romans 3:4; Acts of the Apostles 5:29. We should all be prepared to push the truth of Gods' Word. In times of ignorance God winks at according to Acts of the Apostles 17:30-31 but when God gives us a knowledge of the truth of His Word he expects us to believe and follow it. If we choose to reject Gods' Word after we have been given a knowledge of the truth of God's Word in order to continue in known unrepentant sin according to Paul in Hebrews 10:26-31 we will be in danger of the judgement.

Romans 14:5-6 pairs nicely with Colossians 2:16. No judgement.

Not really there is no mention of God's 4th commandment Sabbath in Romans 14 and Colossians 2 as shown in the context and the scriptures in post # 27 linked is talking about the ceremonial "shadow sabbaths" in the Feast days not God's 4th commandment. Now this poses a little bit of a dilemma because unless one is able to read into the scriptures what the scriptures do not say or teach there is not one scripture in all of Gods Word that says God's 4th commandments of the 10 commandments that according to James, Paul and John give us the knowledge of what sin is when broken *James 2:10-11; Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7 and 1 John 3:4) has been abolished and there is no scripture anywhere in all of God's Word that says Sunday or the first day of the week is a holy day of rest. The problem being if we knowingly break anyone of God's 10 commandments of which God's seventh day Sabbath is a part of we stand guilty before God of sin according to James 2:10-11.

Also concerning SDAs not eating bacon, I do not judge you:

Romans 14:1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. 2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

Romans 14 is also not talking also not about the clean and unclean food laws. It is talking about eating and not eating (fasting) on days that men esteem over other days and and judging others in this regards.

Here let's look at the contexts...

The New Testament writers referred to two concepts of unclean, using different Greek words to convey the two meanings. Unclean could refer to animals God did not intend to be consumed as food (listed in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14). Unclean could also refer to ceremonial uncleanness.

In Romans 14 Paul uses the word koinos, which means “common” (W.E. Vine, Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words, 1985, “Unclean,” p. 649). In addition to the meanings of “common” and “ordinary” (see Acts 2:44; Acts 4:32; Titus 1:4; Hebrews 10:29), the word also applied to things considered polluted or defiled. This word, along with its verb form koinoo, is used in Mark 7:2, Mark 7:15-23, where it obviously refers to ceremonial uncleanness.

Koinos and koinoo appear throughout the New Testament to refer to this kind of ceremonial uncleanness. Something could be “common”—ceremonially unclean—even though it was otherwise considered a scripturally clean meat.

An entirely different word, akathartos, is used in the New Testament for those animals Scripture specifies as unclean. Both words, koinos and akathartos, are used in Acts 10, where Peter distinguished between the two concepts of uncleanness by using both words in Acts 10:14.

When Paul said in Romans 14:14 that “I know and am convinced by the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean [ koinos, or ‘common’] of itself,” he was making the same point he had made earlier to the Corinthians: Just because meat that was otherwise lawful to eat may have been associated with idol worship does not mean it is no longer fit for human consumption. As seen from the context, Paul wasn’t discussing biblical dietary restrictions at all.

Paul goes on to state in Romans 14:20 that “all food is clean” (NIV). The word translated “clean” is katharos, meaning “free from impure admixture, without blemish, spotless” (Vine, “Clean, Cleanness, Cleanse, Cleansing,” p. 103).

“Clean” meats as such aren’t addressed in the New Testament, so there isn’t a specific word to describe them. Katharos is used to describe all kinds of cleanliness and purity, including clean dishes (Matthew 23:26), people (John 13:10) and clothing (Revelation 15:6; Revelation 19:8-14), “pure” religion (James 1:27), gold and glass (Revelation 21:18).

Realize also that, in both Romans 14:14 and Romans 14:20, the word food or meat doesn’t appear in the original Greek, but was inserted by later translators. No specific object is mentioned relative to cleanness or uncleanness. The sense of these verses is merely that “nothing [is] unclean [ koinos: common or ceremonially defiled] of itself,” and “all is clean [ katharos: free from impure admixture, without blemish, spotless].”

Paul’s point is that association of food with idolatrous activity had no bearing on whether the food was inherently suitable or unsuitable for eating. Understood in its context, Romans 14 does not convey permission to ignore the biblical laws as to which meats are clean or unclean.

CONCLUSION: Romans 14 is focusing on eating and not eating also showing strong connections to Pauls writings in 1 CORINTHIANS 10 and 1 CORINTHIANS 6 with food offered to idols. It is not saying we are not free to break God's dietry laws or is it talking about eating clean and unclean means.

.................

SOME POINTS TO CONSIDER IN ROMANS 14:1-23

[1] the days spoken of are associated with eating/drinking, not eating/not drinking.

[2] the matter is over those 'weak' and 'strong' in faith concerning eating/drinking and days to do and not do those things on

[3] the context deals with "One man esteemeth", and not what God esteems (Isaiah 56:1-8, 58:13; Psalms 89:34) as permanent and so, and God's word is clear about what men esteem:

Luke 16:15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. The Jews continually argued over which were better days to do this thing or that thing, like fasting, feasting, etc: [Matthew 9:14; Mark 2:18; Luke 5:33, 18:12 KJB]

[4] the words for sabbath is not present in all of Romans 14, neither in all of Romans

[5] the words of the seventh day is not present in all of Romans 14, neither in all of Romans

[6] the words for the Lord's day is not present in all of Romans 14, neither in all of Romans

[7] Romans 14 is in the context of Romans 13, which directly cites the latter (2nd) table of the Ten Commandments, for love to neighbour, which is also found in Leviticus 19:17-18, in the context of sin and the Ten Commandments

[8] Romans 15 is the other end, and when combined with 1 Corinthians 8-10, the context is clear that the sabbath of the LORD thy God (Exodus 20:8-11) is not in view in the least, and is sustained by the rest of Paul in Romans by his statements on the eternal spiritual, holy, just and good Law (Exodus 20:1-17) of God, which identifies what sin is (Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4)

[9] the entire context of Romans 14 is to do nothing (even if allowed normally, yet not under special circumstances) to cause others to sin:

Romans 14:13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.

[10] Paul never contradicts himself, and Paul's writings are scripture (2 Peter 3:16), and scripture cannot be broken, John 10:35) and does not teach transgression of God's Law (Exodus 20:1-17) at any point:

Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
Romans 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Romans 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
Romans7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

[11] the words for "law", "commandments" are never used in Romans 14

[12] Paul in numerous places lists and upholds every single one of the Ten Commandments in the NT, including the 4th Commandment (Genesis 2:1-3; Exodus 20:8-11) in Hebrews 3-4, etc.

[13] Romans 14 is about excluding those things which were "doubful disputations", and not a single one of the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17) were ever doubtful or to be disputed in any place in all of scripture (KJB), for the Commandment of God are "sure" (Psalms 111:7).

[14] the words for "covenant/testament" are never used in Romans 14

[15] the words for 'first [day] of the week' are never used in Romans 14, neither in all of Romans

[16] none of the 'Sunday' (first [day] of the week) churches use Romans 14 to teach that I may ignore the day they gather on, even though that day is not sanctified by God in any way what so ever in scripture (KJB), and is never called "the Lord's day" in scripture, neither is it "the seventh day the sabbath of the LORD thy God".

[17] nobody uses Romans 14 to teach I can simply stop eating/drinking on every day

[18] anyone who quotes Romans 14, has in mind 'restrictions', rather than allowances

.........................

CONCLUSION: According to the scriptures once context is applied at can be clearly seen that Romans 14 has nothing whatsoever to do with both the Sabbath of God's 4th commandment or clean or unclean food laws. The scriptures are talking eating and not eating (fasting) on days men esteem over other days. Not what days God esteems and judging others in this regard not what days God esteems. The things that men esteem are an abomination in God's eyes.

LUKE 16:15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God

There is no mention in all of ROMANS 14 of God's 4th commandment or any of God's 10 commandments of clean and unclean food laws.

There is nothing in the Epistles against meeting on Sunday vs Saturday. These other things you mention here, like murder, are condemned in the Epistles as works of the flesh as I stated earlier in Galatians 5:19-21.

Don't conflate RCC traditions with arguments on which days one goes to church.

This is repetition John already dealt with in the scriptures provided in post # 27 linked in some detail which you did not address here. If you disagree with what has been shared with you in the linked post above you are welcome to show why you disagree through the scriptures shared with you, but here your only disagreeing by repeating yourself without showing from the scriptures why you disagree. As posted earlier you do not have to show why you disagree with the scriptures and context provided in post # 27 that disagrees with you if you do not want to as it is up to you and of course we can simply agree to disagree. We should not be afraid to share God's Word John in a friendly and loving manner as it can help us to have a closer walk with Jesus and is written for our correction and instruction and edification in righteousness where we can examine ourselves to see if we are truly in the faith or not according to 2 Corinthians 13:5. God's Word is a light unto our path and a lamp unto our feet *Psalms 119:105 to guide us in the path that is dark and narrow. According to Jesus light is come into the world, and men love the darkness rather than the light; because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, and cometh not to the light, lest his works should be reproved. But he that doeth the truth cometh to the light, that his works may be made manifest, that they have been wrought in God. Let's all pray that all of us be not of those who hate the light of God's Word when God reveals it to us and be like the faithful Bareans to studied the scriptures daily to see if these things are true.

God bless

Romans 14:5-6 pairs nicely with Colossians 2:16. Yes, let no man judge you:

Romans 14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Also concerning SDAs not eating bacon, I do not judge you:

Romans 14:1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. 2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

Matthew Henry's Commentary, "Those who thought themselves still under some kind of obligation by the ceremonial law esteemed one day above another; kept up a respect to the times of the passover, pentecost, new moons and feast of the tabernacles. Those who knew all of these things were abolished by Christ's coming esteemed every day alike. We must understand it with an exception of the Lord's day, which all Christians unanimously observed. The apostle seems willing to let the ceremonial law wither by degrees, and let it have an honorable burial."

John Wesley, "One day above another - As new moons, and other Jewish festivals. Let every man be fully persuaded - That a thing is lawful, before he does it."

Albert Barnes, "And if any man is disposed to plead this passage as an excuse for violating the Sabbath, and devoting it to pleasure or gain, let him quote it “just as it is,” that is, let “him neglect the Sabbath from a conscientious desire to honor Jesus Christ.” Unless this is his motive, the passage cannot avail him. But this motive never yet influenced a Sabbath-breaker."

David Brown, "...If the Lawgiver Himself said of it when on earth, "The Son of man is LORD EVEN OF THE SABBATH DAY" (see Mar 2:28 ) --it will be hard to show that the apostle must have meant it to be ranked by his readers among those vanished Jewish festival days, which only "weakness" could imagine to be still in force--a weakness which those who had more light ought, out of love, merely to bear with."

There is no mention in all of ROMANS 14 of God's 4th commandment or any of God's 10 commandments of clean and unclean food laws.
OT unclean foods are permitted in the NT by Acts 10:

Acts 10:9 The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour. 10 Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they made ready, he fell into a trance 11 and saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth. 12 In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air. 13 And a voice came to him, “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.” 14 But Peter said, “Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean.” 15 And a voice spoke to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed you must not call common.” 16 This was done three times. And the object was taken up into heaven again.

Nowhere in scripture does God or Jesus give authority to change any dictate that hasn't been ordained by God Himself.
Many things in the OT are no longer practiced in the NT. There is no longer a Levite Priest class, nor Temple sacrifices, nor mandatory festivals.

Acts 10 demonstrates that OT dietary laws are not in play.

Paul preaches against mandatory Circumcision:
Galations 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. 2 Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. 3 And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law. 4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. 5 For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.

Actually John, nowhere in Acts 10 does it say unclean foods are now permitted. Here let's look at the detail and add the contexts back in.

ACTS 10:1-28

1, There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, 2, A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always. 3, He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius. 4, And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. 5, And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter: 6, He lodges with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what you should do. 7, And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually; 8, And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.................

9, On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:

10, And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,

11, And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:

12, Wherein were all manner of four footed beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

13, And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

14, But Peter said, NOT SO LORD FOR I HAVE NEVER EATEN ANYTHING THAT IS UNCLEAN AND COMMON.

15, And the voice spake unto him again the second time, WHAT GOD HAS CLEANSED, THAT DO NOT CALL COMMON.

16, This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

17, Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate,

Now the question here to consider is what was it that God had cleansed and we should not call common, this is what Peter was thinking about. WHILE PETER WAS THINKING ABOUT THE MEANING OF THE VISION. The praying gentile that believed God was at his gate asking for Peter...

18, And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.

19, While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.

20, Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

What was it that God was teaching Peter.....

27, And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.

28, And he said unto them, YOU KNOW THAT IT IS AN UNLAWFUL THING FOR A MAN THAT IS A JEW TO KEEP COMPANY, OR COME UNTO ONE OF ANOTHER NATION; BUT GOD HAS SHOWN ME THAT I SHOULD NOT CALL ANY MAN COMMON OR UNCLEAN

So the vision was not about saying that all foods are clean but that now all men are now clean and that the Believers can preach the Gospel to the Gentiles... This also agrees to context with two stories going on in parallel. One story with the Angel telling Cornelius to go and seek out Peter and Peter having the dream about clean and unclean animals and God giving him the meaning of the dream in v28 that the dream was about God no longer calling gentile believers unclean. Kind of not saying what you are at all is it John?

Hope this is helpful.
