Matthew 6:33 is what the Lord has impressed upon my heart and life for the past several years. That verse has been my personal mission statement, my anchor in the storms and in the quiet of life. God saved my soul through a process where I came to the end of myself and surrendered my soul to God about 6.5 years ago. I knew I needed to come closer to Christ in my walk with Him and I did that by attending church and by serving through using my gifts and talents. I also became convicted of the words that Jesus said - Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. As a result of that conviction I began, over 4 years ago, to distribute free bible tracts and daily devotionals. I do that as often as I am able and have distributed hundreds throughout these 4 years. I have been through some truly awful experiences in the church in the past few years - that is aside from what I went through growing up in the church and in a severely dysfunctional Christian family. Given what I have been through in the church, I think that moving forward I should take my focus off of church. But I still want to work to build the kingdom of God. I can still continue to distribute free Bible materials to help spread the word of God. I know that I can honor God through my work - the word of God says that we should do our work as unto the Lord. What else can I do to honor God and help to build His kingdom?

You do realize the ONLY gospel Jesus taught was the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, both a place and a governance. The Kingdom represents a culture contrary to the world man has made in our image. His followers came to be know as 'haters of man' for their refusal to adhere to the system man has created in this world based on self. (self - interest, justifying, determination, indulgence, serving. etc). Yet Jesus said to live apart, not to rebel against what man has made. Be not a threat but instead offer an alternative.

The Kingdom gives us two commandments. First love God which is to put His will before our own, Second, His will is we love all as self, not just self. This runs contrary to the will of man but also is an antidote for the oppression and aggression of mankind. In this respect, you may find your tracts lacking.

Luke 16: 15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

1 Corinthians 1:20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

Remember that when his Apostles were talking among themselves about the kingdom and what it would be, he told then that the kingdom was within them (i.e. in their midst). In other words...HIM!

Ain't that the truth!!! Just think of how many social and financial problems could be avoided or ameliorated if every Christian would start by ministering within his/her own family ...

... it might be a different world.

Good point, bro!

You should is go to places like go fund me, indie go go, and fundly find people there who need help, and post thier promblems to reddit, forums, and even games. Yeah just be sure it is this person they say and thier promblems you can do it with logic. If they are in promblems and are good people who don't have food and need to pay rent. You send those post to everywhere and you will get results.

You have to be sure thier the right people ask them to able to identify themselves, and see if they have history even I have doubts maybe thier a group of hackers trying to pretend and gets me mad but even if that was true hope they identify themselves and even send them a basket of food to help them. Have pity for them but if there aren't and it is a women or dad who can't feed their family I wouldn't forgive myself better be on G-d side and he will and he would judge it but he knew I did with my heart and was angered or trying to be arrogant or be the best.

Did to help people and if you post thier promblems you will se G-d will reward and you, you just have to dig deep thru them and find the right one and pick others and compare and you will see with the small details who might not be and who will be asking for real help.

pointers:
1. they give isntagram and photo.
2.try and ask others if they have ask for help before.
3. see A pattern if you go to multiple sites go fund me and inde gogo they will also be there and could compare story.
4.there are people who can identify if they are those people by moderators who can check ip ask that one.
5. G-d will tell ya.
6. pray and pray solution will come to pick them. between some them you will find the people who are asking for help.

A good idea for christian they can win a lot from G-d if they help those people. There is work but sometimes it's the hardest work and people give up on them persist and don't be the lazy christian be the old christian who withstand and pushes for people even if they made a mistake.

Several years ago mid 90s when I was working for my rich uncle I was transferred to Orange County. I worked at a now closed MCAS, 19 miles from Disney land. While getting cable installed the cable guy had a very distinctive voice. My wife never shy or reticent said. "You have a very good voice. You should use it for the glory of God." He said "I do, I'm the cantor at my synagogue." I had to explain synagogue and cantor to my wife. He was born on the east coast in a Jewish family, went to UCLA where he became a messianic Jew. A 20 minute cable install turned into an hour or so fellowship. His MJ synagogue observed all the OT feasts, holy days etc. not as a requirement of the law but a celebration of their Jewish heritage. His night job he was the radio/TV voice of the San Diego Chargers.
Matthew 25:31-46
31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

First I never met a functional family. Where do you reside in this family? Is there competition for acceptance?
If you read in the first chapter of Acts, Jesus tells us that we must receive power from on high( baptism of the Holy Spirit) then we are to preach to our families( Jerusalem), friends (Judea and Samaria) , then to the outer most parts of the earth. The awful experiences you are going through are usually a good sign, time to move on, there are so many fish in the sea. So many that need faith filled words to just survive. God uses the weak to do his work, and if you do not feel able then you are the right person for the job. Ask the Lord to open a door for you to step into your calling, He will not lead you astray.

I have learned from experience that the most important thing I can do is to prepare myself for service. When I am adequately prepared, the Lord will present opportunities that I am now qualified to help with. It might feel like a dark, dry place, and you may be chomping at the bit to get out there and be useful to His service, but if there are no areas readily available, maybe the Lord would be honoured by you seeing it as a time of preparation? Spend time every day listening to sermons of preachers you admire and can learn from (Voddie Baucham is one of my personal favourites... always challenging), follow along in the Scriptures to reinforce your familiarity with the passages, immerse yourself in Him, spend time talking with the Lord... like the movie says, "if you build it, they will come". And if you prepare for service, He will bring it to your doorstep. <3

I have a Bible app on my iPad and on my iPhone. It contains the free World English Bible version. If you read the Gospels over and over, larger parts of them will be in your memory. If someone asks you about Jesus, you might have something better than, “Read the Bible.”

Hello @Gentle Lamb, along with what @SusaninBC and @dqhall have just said above, and since seeking His Kingdom and His righteousness before anything else is your heart's desire, it's good to keep in mind that our first and principle ministry, both to God ~and~ to others, is to continually grow up in the knowledge and understanding of God, of the things of God, and of the faith (and of course then, in our relationship with Him :)) .. see Psalm 1:1-3; John 17:17; Romans 12:2; 1 Timothy 3:16-17.

Here's a short story from the Bible about two sisters that seems to point to this idea.

Luke 10
38 As Jesus and His disciples were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home.
39 She had a sister named Mary who was seated at the Lord’s feet, listening to His word.
40 But Martha was distracted with all of her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me.”
41 But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things;
42 but only one thing is necessary, and Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”

Finally, I'm not sure what struggles you are facing at the church you attend, but walking away from the authority and teaching of the visible church (from the teaching of sound doctrine, fellowship, worship, prayer, and ministry with, to & from other believers), is never the best idea, because God did not intend for us to live the Christian life apart from those things .. e.g Hebrews 10:24-25.

Perhaps you could find another, more suitable church? Or, perhaps you should consider remaining right where you are, where you already know that there is a great need for someone, such as yourself, to make a difference (in the life of the church/in the lives of your brothers and sisters in Christ) by being a godly example to them in all things?

God bless you!

--David
p.s. - here's one of my favorite Bible verses, which I believe is a kind of OT version of Matthew 6:33 (from a bit of a different POV). It's a wonderful command with a wonderful promise from God attached to it :) Just FYI, it's important to truly understand what the command half/our half of v4 is actually telling us to do (Spurgeon once said that the best way to fulfill the command half of v4 is to always chase after God, never after the things that we want from Him).

Psalms 37
4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.

What else can I do to honor God and help to build His kingdom?

How well do you know your neighbors? How can you help them?

How do you hand out tract, bibles etc? We had an evangelist who's personal practice was to speak to someone everyday about Jesus, even if it meant driving to the gas station/late night store and talking to who ever was behind the counter. He would hand out tracts but either after a conversation or because he could not get a conversation.

As has been suggested what charities are there working in your town? Could you work with them and also be a rep in your church for them?

In your church do you have a representative for the perscuted church? Could you be that person?

Does your church organise evangelism in your town, do Street evangelism, open air preaching etc etc

I'm a big fan of the saying "charity begins at home". I'm sure you must have different people around you that need help. The same goes with the community you live in. Luke 17:20-21, James 1:27

Thank you for this. You are right. The gospel of Jesus Christ changed my heart. I used to hate my parents for a while because of the horrible things they would do/say to me as their child. I endured a LOT of verbal abuse growing up. I still do, as I still live at home given illness/disability. The gospel of Jesus Christ taught me to love my enemies. I began to do nice things for my family members- celebrating their birthday, wedding anniversary, Christmas, etc. as much as I could do. It has helped though things are still hard in my family since we are not at all what a family should be. But showing this love has been helpful and has made some difference.

There are billions of people who would like to be listened to. Start with one.

I do try to be a good listener to the people around me, I try to listen between the lines as well, ask about their well being, etc. It helps.

You could also try charity work, such as feeding the homeless.

I am looking into that. Currently I try to donate when and how I can, whether that be monetarily or things I no longer need such as clothes/shoes. I did look for more volunteer opportunities. Covid is complicating things but I'll keep looking to see what opens up as time goes along.
