causes:
-"Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:" Eph 2:2 Rejecting God and His standards.
results:
The people:
-"..for their minds have been blinded by the god of this age, leaving them in unbelief. Their blindness keeps them from seeing the dayspring light of the wonderful news of the glory of Jesus Christ, who is the divine image of God." (II Cor 4:4).
- "But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear." Isa 59:2
- bloody cities, broken families, idols, despise God's holy things, profane His sabbaths, sexual immortality, businesses using ungodly practices, they have put no difference between the Holy and the profane, not taken care of the poor and needy, etc (Eze 22). Noticed they ignored the 10 commandments.
- "Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy." Rom 1
-The land- is God's land (Lev 25:23)
The land becomes defiled because of the people and their thoughts, attitudes, and behavior (Eze 22).
The remedy:
Jesus said: -"Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." (Matt 22).
- Also, He said "...It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." (Matt 4:4)
Intercessors needed:
-"And I sought a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none." Eze 22:30
- "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." II Chron 7:14
-"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;" II Tim 2:1-3
Of course, there are many more Scriptures for every category such as intercessors Eph 6:18, Matt 18:19-20, Isa 62:6.
