Sooooo, how long will it be until Joe holds his first, no holds barred, no time restrictions, no handlers by his side, no questions off limits, White House press conference? It's very strange that he's been in office several weeks, and so far ... nothing.

Press briefings are occuring every day.
Joe seems busy doing work rather than shouting ra ra sound bites to fans at rallies, golfing, watching tv, or appearing infront of the cameras.

He's not going to.

Reason #1 is that he is still trying to show he is different than President Trump. He is trying to show that he is reasoned, methodical, and does not give "off the cuff" remarks.

Reason #2 is that there is real reason to believe he is not capable of giving cognizant remarks without prompts.
Even if he weren't, the us president is not called "the remarker in chief".

After the last few presidents, a large part of the right has never experienced a normal politician as a us president in their lifetime.

I don't consider Obama, or Bush (either one) or Clinton, to have been abnormal.

I cannot image that he'll ever do it. He's gotten a pass so far from the Mainstream Media on not doing it, so why would his handlers want a change?? That said, I wouldn't be surprised if he, sooner or later, gave us something or other that's a partial concession, such for instance as his remarks of the other day which were unceremoniously cut off the instant he said he'd take questions!

Just as the last six presidents before him did not give a State of the Union address in their first year in office.
Well, Obama slid in there in Jan 2016 just before leaving office. Guess he wanted one last photo op. Trump gave his first in 2017. Why do a repeat in 2016?

You post as if as there is should be an expectation of regular presidential press conferences. What do think that we should expect?

The last two Republican presidents had very few. Obama had one a month. If we think that Trump was unusual, then let's expect what we got from the last other Republican president, one every 2 months. It seems unlikely that he wants as many of these as Obama, once a month.

Something approaching normality, even if it's just playacting.

He skipped out on most of what would have been the Inaugural Ceremonies, doesn't visit disaster-stricken areas of the country when it matters, doesn't host the usual White House visitors, and so on.

I know that his role is essentially to occupy the presidency, but he could make a show of being an active president, and I think the people would appreciate it. But maybe the risk of an even more calamitous meltdown on camera is considered to be just too great.

I know that for poster on CF, the pandemic is gone and should be ignored. With regard to Biden being ACTIVE, let's wait a year. We'll see if folks think that he wasn't active enough.

I could be wrong. However, I believe that for most Republicans, Biden will, have been considered to be considerably too active by the end of his firs 100 days, certainly after his first year.

Biden is in a race to get as much done as possible in his first year.

Something approaching normality, even if it's just playacting.

Well now, he'll sign papers that are put in front of him, but that isn't what I was referring to when saying it would be nice if Biden were an active president. I thought that the examples I used would illustrate what was meant by that word.

As far as I can gather from Albion is that his posts are heavily partisan. Highly praising and in defence of criticism of Trump, Highly critical of Biden and Democrats.

If I was in USA in this global pandemic and was in a high risk age group, I too would skip on ceremonial pomp and instead focus on sorting out priority issues.

The press secretary and her daily briefs are enough for communication to the people and the media.

Biden didn't skip out of Inaugural Ceremonies - that is just plain false. There is a pandemic going on and the numbers were high. It would have been stupid to have all the ceremonies and balls like were in the past.
And he visited Texas when it was appropriate, so it was not an imposition. Glad he didn't throw paper towels at people.

Biden is not rage tweeting at night and spending his time golfing and watching TV. Instead:

Biden hosts labor leaders in Oval Office to discuss coronavirus relief, infrastructure

Biden meets with House Democrats in push for $1.9-trillion coronavirus relief plan

G.O.P. Senators Aiming to Shrink Recovery Package Meet With Biden

Biden hosts bipartisan meeting on infrastructure;

Biden is engaging with the Senate and the House leadership, and with both parties.

As the Trump administration resisted the transition, the Biden administration is still catching up. There still aren't a number of positions filled. They are having to go through each department with a fine tooth comb.

His handlers will not allow him to.

Didn't we already have Joe telling us that there were no vaccines when he took office - even though he got vaccinated Dec 21, 2020 and there were over 50 million in inventory at the time?

How much of that do you really want?

No need, the fact checking ended just before his inauguration
