whil i enjoyed it and i got a lot of information from the RCIA director. im not gonna lie i was a little disappointed. it honestly felt like a protestant sunday. i thought catholic churches were in latin. then i figured out that people are attacking the latin mass bc its toxic? idk. i found some with latin mass but bc of this stupid pandemic you have to have a sign up sheet to attend them and im 45m-1hr away from them all. im getting so frustrated with all this stuff. i just want to be a part of a traditional and ancient church. if i wanted what i got out of the NO mass i would have just went to my old protestant church.

Well we're glad you went anyway. I understand your frustration, most of us Catholics are upset and frustrated at the way this pandemic has been handled—including and especially how it's been handled by the Church. Luckily, regardless of our Church hierarchs, the truth and beauty of the Church itself can't be touched. It's there, our access to it might be changed right now but it's there nonetheless.

If you have a chance to attend that Latin Mass go for it! I think it would be worth the longer drive, I know people who drive 2+ hours so they can attend a Latin Mass.

Just last week I was listening to a podcast and the host quoted a priest who was asked why he started celebrating the Latin Mass since the pandemic began, and the priest said "with everything going on in the world today we need to bring out the big guns, and the Latin Mass is the biggest gun we have."

Some novus ordo masses aren't bad, really. My home parish had one that was done reverently with a choir and organ, the parish I've been going to where I live now has the same. But there are also terrible ones, it really depends on the priest and the culture of the parish. I used to think a mid-century modern building was a dead giveaway for a bad parish culture with an irreverent mass but that's not really the case, sometimes great priests are assigned to bad buildings. You just have to check them out and find where the best masses are offered.

Give it some time. It is not just a get together to worship, in a Catholic Church you are in the Real Presence of God. In the mass the sacrifice of Jesus is made present.
The mass has been going on for almost 2000 years, I would study what goes on so that you realize the awesome holiness of what is taking place. There are Latin masses available here and there, it is totally up to you if you want to travel to a church that has a Latin mass.
