If the moon were made of green cheese, would it be riddled with mice?

Instead of trying to ridicule me with the rather
obvious point that no exact analogy is possible,
I hope you will instead try for some understanding
of the perspective from this side of the Pacific.

The USA heavily interfered in the Civil War and has
actively prevented reunification since, by force of arms.
Are you familiar with Chinese history -?

Biden openly refuses to speak against China's brutality Toward Uyghurs and Democratic autonomy for Hong Kong. Is this how we buddy up (ie: "unify") to a communist country? There is no cultural value in oppression, slavery, nor tyranny.
He has and will take the safer route. He knows that if provoked to far China can and will destroy us.

So far it is MAD, but provocation of a powerful proud country
country smarting from past humiliation is unwise.
Especially over things where no "win' is possible.

Human rights violations?

Yes.

You mean like separating children from their parents at the border and putting them in cages,

No.

disparity of police treatment according to race,

No...definitely not.

and holding foreign nationals in Guantanamo without benefit of trial?

The fact is American needs to have an enemy to feed its military-industrial complex and largest defense budget known in the world. Our current whipping-boy: China.

Mainly because of their rampant destruction of democracy and the systematic rape, murder, and elimination of an entire ethnic population.

You see .. I don’t see them as “illegal immigrants caught unlawfully breaking & entering into the country”.

I see them as “ human like me (whom God so loved that He sent His only SON) escaped from poverty, war , violent gangster and all they are trying to do is work hard and give better life to their children. Only difference between them and I, is that I was blessed enough to be born in USA. It is simple as that. If I were born in El Salvador and see my daughter Get raped in front of me , I would do the exact same thing – “unlawfully breaking & entering into the country”

If you see them the way I see them – human, whom God loved so much that He gave his one and only son for them, you will realize the way we treat them today is inhuman.

Emotional appeal.

No capitalist nation can continue without endless growth. Since endless growth is impossible, capitalism will change or fail and die.

Endless immigration is endless growth. You need more jobs for more taxes to create more subsidies and welfare for those entering the system.

It's an endless cycle of growth and growth and growth. If you believe it can continue forever and we can all continue living this way, say so.

If you don't, and anyone reasonable doesn't believe in endless growth....cut the emotional appeal and state the limit. How many can the US hold? 500 million? A billion?

I've no doubt we can live with a billion people...but 800 million of them will have to live very poorly.

Supporting Immigration reform is “emotional appeal” and “bad for economy” ?

Being pro-life is NOT “emotional appeal” and “Good for economy”?

Everything you wrote after the first sentence is an emotional appeal.

You made it seem as if though we mistreat people deliberately instead of simply not being prepared for the overwhelming numbers that want to come here and stay.

On top of that, you made it sound as if there was no good reason to send them back to the nations they fled.

My point is almost all policy as a nation we take has “ emotional appeal” . Either we go to war in southern Africa to root out dictator or helping country devastated by natural disaster they all have humanitarian reason , emotional appeal. If we make black and white decision like you describe in your previous post based on economy, I say encourage people to have more abortion .. less people we have in this country the better is it for the country .. at least that argument you have against immigration.

You'd think China would have already done something with all the "provoking" Trump did. I don't think China wants a war with anyone...they're too economy focused.

When China goes to war with the USA you will wake up
to find the power is out, there's no water, all the cars
have stopped and the aircraft have all dropped from the sky.

We are not going to war with China...not in the next decade anyway.

I was not ridiculing you, but your argument. My point was not about analogies but about fantasy. What useful conclusion can be drawn from a fantasy? There was no Panama Canal during the American Civil War.

"I know what you're thinking about," said Tweedledum: "but it isn't so, nohow."

"Contrariwise," continued Tweedledee, "if it was so, it might be; and if it were so, it would be: but as it isn't, it ain't. That's logic."

The USA heavily interfered in the Civil War and has
actively prevented reunification since, by force of arms.
Whose Civil War? And which Georgia?
Are you familiar with Chinese history -?
Somewhat familiar, mostly from the Seven Warring States thru the Han Dynasty. Why do you ask?

Whose Civil War? And which Georgia? Since this is the American Politics forum, it would help to specify what country you're referring to when you site events that have occurred many times in many places when you're not referring to America.

If you find ridicule more edifying than trying to
see foreign pov that is too bad.

Tell me about the canal you lost. Ha.

I know about TR and the Panama canal,
I' ve spent time in the NYC Sullivan and
Cromwell office, being of William Cromwell
and his association with the canal. You know
all about that, no?
I'd guess I know US history better than
you, oh quotess of L.C.- another uncalled for bit
of attempted put down.

And I for sure know more about
China and our history, our present.

You've no qualified basis for commenting
on Chinese policy, and seeing your response
to any attempt to help you understand, we
expect it will remain so.

Humor is perspective. I don't understand your pov as illustrated by your fantastical scenarios; perhaps if you would simply explain your point in plain terms?

Lost canal? Sorry, if you are asking about the history of the Panama Canal, might I know to what end? ETA: I see - you just want to prove how much more knowledgeable you are than I, right?

Okay, you win - you're far smarter and more educated than I could ever hope to be. So then, what was your scenario about Chinese warships sailing through that canal to assist Georgia during the American Civil War supposed to illustrate? I guess it is all too erudite for me. Can you explain what point you were originally trying to make?

And I for sure know more about
China and our history, our present.
Okay, so? And whose history is ours?

I don't recall commenting on Chinese policy other than to say that no Chinese warships sailed through the Panama Canal (?!) to assist anyone during the American Civil War due to the canal's nonexistence at that time. Quite honestly, I still don't see what point you were/are trying to put across (other than how much better you are than I, which again, I concede). Do you have an actual point?

I think it was real obvious first time around what I was getting at.
But never mind.
Anyway, I'd rather be friends than fight.
I'm an insomniac and not in my best humor at 2cam.

If you make it to Hong Kong, I've a nice place on Repulse Bay,
drop by we will have tea and scones on the terrace, or as you
may prefer, BBQ shrimp.

Deal...?
