Let me answer this for you. As a born-again Christian, a son of missionary. If I were the baker, not only I would bake the cake, I would bake it free and invite the couple to come to my shop again after the wedding.

Why ?

Because I believe homosexuality is sin, homosexual lifestyle is sin. But I can’t witness the couple and share the Good News of Jesus if I condemn them and throw them away from my shop. If I want them to come to Christ , I will dine with them, brake bread with them and may be , may be I will have chance to share the gospel with them, rest I leave up to Holy Spirit.

So yea , as a Christian I think baker was wrong, and he doesn’t understand how Christianity works.

Love that view point

Well there is where we differ. I might not agree with any of the propaganda CNN and their cronies produce, but I fully defend their ability and right to run their business as they see fit.

I do not support a totalitarian approach to limiting business based on their political affiliation or whether I agree with them or not.

I fully defend Fox news to publish whatever they want. Apple can do business with Fox news. It’s their choice. But if Apple do business with Fox news, I would buy Samsung rather then Apple product. We all have choice , no one is stopping any one with any thing. I am not calling fox news “ enemy of the people” , nor I am saying Apple can’t do business with Fox, but if you do business with fox I will not buy your product.

Gotcha - so the reason you posted was just your opinion - thank you.

My opinion is that one's actions are usually a pretty reliable indication as to their state of mind.

As no bank is required by any law* to do business with Gab, the fact that they were offered the opportunity to do so and chose not to would seem to indicate what they think of the company.

*(unless you'd like to change the laws, and I'd advise you think the matter through before suggesting such a thing)

Now, since the primary purpose of a bank (like any other business) is to make money, I assumed that they chose to decline to do business with Gab because it was a poor investment. My assumption was certainly reasonable, but I could be wrong.

Perhaps there is some other reason that these businesses are deciding that associating with Gab is not in their best interests... in any event, I think you will find it difficult to change their opinion on the subject, and impossible to compel them (as they are within their legal rights) to act against their wishes in this matter.

But I do hope you try.

From the "Cancel culture continues to expand" files: Conservative social media site Gab BANNED from three Banks in three weeks due to media smears

Free speech social media platform Gab has been banned from three different banks in three weeks, following repeated smears from the mainstream media.
...
Following the removal of President Trump from most Big Tech platforms in the last few weeks of his presidency, New Tech social media sites like Gab skyrocketed in traffic, as millions of users flocked away from the censorship of Facebook, Twitter, and others. Gab received 272 million visits in January, outperforming legacy media competition such as NBC News, The Wall Street Journal, Breitbart, and TMZ, by a huge margin
.
When I was growing up, we called this a boycott.

Boycott lettuce
Boycott South Africa

I remember posters in the University library saying that the University should divest from South Africa because of apartheid.

If we don't like what a bank is doing, go to a different bank.

I think someone suggested crypto. Boycott the fiat money system altogether :)

I think the real question is unpopular with whom? Certainly not conservatives.
Right, whoever heard of a conservative banker!

So how is a free market banking only liberal talk a free market then?

The banks are only a part of the free market; they are not the free market.

If Bank "A" doesn't want to do business with you, you are free to take your business to bank "B." If "B" turns you down, shake the dust off your feet and go ask Bank "C" for a loan. If "C" says no... well, you get the idea. There must be a bank out there somewhere that wants to lend you money -- the trick is to not get frustrated so quickly.

The free market doesn't owe you any special favors... it wouldn't be very free if it did.

Welcome to the free market. Sorry you can't hack it.

Have you considered communism?

What if he had other reasons, such as he thought catering to homosexuals would drive off other business?

Just to be clear, do you think the baker was wrong?

In my opinion, yes, I do... because I think the baker broke the law.

But what difference does my opinion make? The Supreme Court gave their opinion -- and unlike mine, it carries weight.

He could've said that at any time.

It wouldn't have exempted him from abiding by Civil Rights legislation, but at it turned out, SCOTUS decided that wasn't a priority.

So you think he was wrong because of law. Do you think he was wrong from a moral sense?

Private companies engaging in interstate commerce have the right to choose with whom they’ll do business. And with whom they’ll refuse to do business. With one exception. Which is if a customer is a member of a protected class as specified by the Civil Rights Act. So here’s a solution: Just get Congress to include political conservatives as a protected class. Very simple.

But if its not government using force of law, then party correlation is irrelevant.

It just so happens that one party is ultra backward looking and the culture generally wants something different.

Sounds like Germany in 1929

I do, but so what? My moral opinion carries even less weight than my legal opinion.

That doesn’t answer the question.

It does. If his reason was, as you claim, that he would lose other business, that excuse would not have done him any good. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits such discrimination.

Then you’d have to agree that morally, what the banks are doing to Gab is also wrong.

I’m not talking legally. I’m talking morally.

That did NOT answer my question. Try again - You said a free market that only bank conservative talk does not sound like a free market to you.

No, you said that. If you're going to persist in putting words in my mouth, stop making them your own... find better words.
