Do not revile the prophet, for the Lord is wiser than the king. Herod was a king who mocked Christ.

Luke 13:31 (WEB) On that same day, some Pharisees came, saying to him, “Get out of here, and go away, for Herod wants to kill you.”

32 He said to them, “Go and tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I complete my mission. 33 Nevertheless I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the next day, for it can’t be that a prophet would perish outside of Jerusalem.’

But Christ did not mock Herod and instead submitted to Herod to His own death for us to know True Love.

Jesus called Herod a fox, not praised the king to high heaven. The Sanhedrin sent Jesus to the Roman Procurator as they sought a judgement against Jesus. Pilate learned Jesus lived in Galilee, Herod’s jurisdiction, so he sent Jesus to Herod for a trial. Herod put him in a purple tunic, like Jesus was pretending to be a king, and sent him back to Pilate. Pilate did not want a riot to form. He gave into the mob’s request that Jesus should be crucified.

Jesus was asked about whether or not the Jews should pay taxes to Rome.

Mark 12:17 (WEB) Jesus answered them, "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." They marveled greatly at him.

In this way Jesus submitted to the government. He tipped over the tables of the money changers and those who sold sacrificial animals in the temple. This was his act of defiance, not submitting to the rulers of the people.

So did Jesus forsee crucifixion?

Christians were subject to pay taxes to Nero Caesar even when he was burning Christians in his garden (Tacitus), yet only Christ’s father can grant eternal life. One who praises a dishonest ruler will have trouble enough. Though Christians were fed to lions in the Coliseum, Christianity did not disappear from the face of the earth.

This explains why:

Romans 13:1
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.

I do not think God asked Pilate to crucify Jesus. God selected Jesus to govern. Jesus taught, “No man can serve two masters.” Matthew 6:24

You might argue God gave power to Hitler, therefore Americans should have been subject to him. I would rather argue the light shined in the darkness and the darkness did not perceive it. Be subject to the truth, not some political lie.

That's exactly what someone who wants to control you would say. God says obey us. Local laws should be objectively justified and not based on Subjective stories in a book.

When we're talking laws, we're talking politics, and politics rests on ethics. An objective code of ethics rests on an objective epistemology. An objective epistemology rests on the principle of objectivity. The notion of the Christian god assumes the principle of subjectivity.

God instituted government for creating order. This does not mean we have to follow Government in every instance or view all government policy as good.
So we should not always view something that God instituted as good? Somethimes God institutes governments with bad policies?
