If the Trinity is really all ONE God... Then why not just pray to God? Why not pray to the One Nature?

Why pray to the three person's of God? Why confuse and complicate things?

Nobody is saying you can't.

Since God Himself wanted us to know that He is a community of persons I think it would be rude to not acknowledge that in our prayer life.

God has revealed Himself as three distinct persons who relate to us in three distinct ways. In as much as we get to know the three divine persons we tend to address them in accordance to how they relate to us.

Some of us do pray to God.

We don't complicate it, and we do just pray to God. Just say Father forgive me or God help me works fine.

When people add in the name of Jesus they are saying they are approaching God as one under His authority (John 16:23)

Our Father and Jesus and the Holy Spirit are three Persons of God, who are relating with one another while acting to bring about God's overall result of Christianity > Romans 8:29.

You ask if we should pray to God. Well, the Holy Spirit prays for us > Romans 8:26. Plus, Jesus prays for us > Romans 8:34. I see how such prayer is Their communication, even among Themselves. So our prayer needs to be personal communication which has us living and loving and sharing with God's Persons and with one another, according to God's purpose > Romans 8:29, with Colossians 1:28-29.

If the Trinity is really all ONE God... Then why not just pray to God? Why not pray to the One Nature?

Why pray to the three person's of God? Why confuse and complicate things?

When you talk to your friend or family member, do you talk to an abstract human nature, or do you talk to a human person?

But, to be clear, our prayers are often addressed simply to "God", or to the "Holy Trinity", because we do confess and acknowledge "one God in Trinity, and Trinity in unity, neither confusing the Persons nor dividing the Essence" (from the Athanasian Creed).

Here are some such prayers:

"Almighty and eternal God,
You have given Your servants
who confess of the true faith
the duty to acknowledge
the glory of the eternal Trinity,
and to worship the true Unity
in the power of the divine majesty.
Keep us steadfast in this faith,
and always defend us from all adversities;
for You, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
live and reign,
one God, now and forever. Amen.
"

"O Most Holy Trinity,
I adore You who dwell by Your grace in my soul
Sanctify me more and more.
Make me love You more and more,
abide with me evermore
and be my true joy.
"

"Holy God.
Holy and Mighty,
Holy and Immortal,
have mercy on us.
"

I pray to God the Father but call on the Spirit and/or Jesus as needed. Example, Jesus in regards to forgiveness of sin (like "wash away my sin in your blood"), Spirit in regards to being holy (like "fill me & lead me").

You pray to the 3 persons of God b/c they each have their own purpose. It's not confusing or complicating things b/c of the Trinity.
