...Because that's reserved for the Sabbath.

Comments and criticisms are welcomed.
"Jesus" is now the Sabath. There are no particular days now. But there is also no condemnation for those who do observe special days.

1) Because Jesus rose from the Dead on Sunday as testified by the early Church.

2) Because of the 8th day Typology in the Bible and its significance to the Church.

But if he was buried late in the day on Friday he would have risen late in the day on Monday. Jesus made it absolutely clear that he would be in the 'grave' for 72 hours.

There is no biblical evidence of Sunday being consecrated as "The Lord's Day", or for any special purpose for that matter.

The Lord's Day, or Day of the Lord, is when Christ returns, and brings 'smoke' (hurts people and breaks stuff).

The Lord was first worshipped by Mary Magdalene & another Mary (mother of James per Luke 24:10) ( Matthew 28:9)then later by the 11 disciples ( Matthew 28:17) within the greater framework of Matthew 28.

The Lord's Day refers to the day he rose from the dead--the key event in human history. As for counting the number of days, this has been discussed ad nauseum here and, yes, burial on Friday and resurrection on Sunday morning does involve parts of three days. We don't always recognize this because days are customarily counted in a different way now.

The idea of John being in The Spirit on The Lord's day per Revelation 1:10 is traditionally thought to mean the first day of the week, Sunday.

But there's another possible meaning. Many of the events of Christ's Revelation given John are about the "day of the Lord", a specific timing per the OT prophets about the final day of this present world when Jesus returns and ends this present world.

Discussed, but never resolved.

Lots of events to be crammed into one day. ;)

Justin [A.D. 110-165.] The First Apology. Chap. LXVII
And on the day called Sunday,76 all who live in cities or in the country gather together to one place, and the memoirs of the apostles or the writings of the prophets are read, as long as time permits; then, when the reader has ceased, the president verbally instructs, and exhorts to the imitation of these good things. Then we all rise together and pray, and, as we before said, when our prayer is ended, bread and wine and water are brought, and the president in like manner offers prayers and thanksgivings, according to his ability,77 and the people assent, saying Amen; and there is a distribution to each, and a participation of that over which thanks have been given,78 and to those who are absent a portion is sent by the deacons. And they who are well to do, and willing, give what each thinks fit; and what is collected is deposited with the president, who succours the orphans and widows and those who, through sickness or any other cause, are in want, and those who are in bonds and the strangers sojourning among us, and in a word takes care of all who are in need. But Sunday is the day on which we all hold our common assembly, because it is the first day on which God, having wrought a change in the darkness and matter, made the world; and Jesus Christ our Saviour on the same day rose from the dead. For He was crucified on the day before that of Saturn (Saturday); and on the day after that of Saturn, which is the day of the Sun, having appeared to His apostles and disciples, He taught them these things, which we have submitted to you also for your consideration.

NOW WHAT DAY IS THE LORD'S DAY ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES?

Let's ask God?

Revelation 1:10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day {G2962 κυριακή; G2250 ημέρα which means the Lord's ownership of the day}, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet

Q1.
Dear Jesus what day is the Lords day according to your Word and not the teachings and traditions of men?

A1. Matthew 12:8 BUT THE SON OF MAN IS LORD EVEN OF THE SABBATH DAY?

Q2. Thank you Jesus, so why is the Sabbath such a special day for you?

A2. Genesis 2:2-3 ..on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made and God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Q3. Thank you Jesus so the Sabbath is the Lord's day because you blessed and made Holy the "seventh day of the week after you created the heavens and the earth. So surely you do not need rest Lord. Why did you make the Sabbath?

A3. Mark 2:27 THE SABBATH WAS MADE FOR MAN AND NOT MAN FOR THE SABBATH

Q4. Thank you Lord so you made it for all mankind and not just for the Jew. Should I continue to keep your Sabbath today?

A4. Hebrews 4:9 THEREFORE IT REMAINS FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD TO KEEP THE SABBATH

Q5. Thank you Lord so the Sabbath that you made at the end of creation is for all mankind and as God's people we are to continue keeping it today. So the Sabbath really is "the Lords Holy day" and you want your people to continue keeping it?

A5.
Isaiah 58:13 If you turn away your foot from the sabbath, from doing your pleasure on MY HOLY DAY; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honorable; and shall honor him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words: Then shall you delight yourself in the LORD; and I will cause you to ride on the high places of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father: for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.

Exodus 31:13 Speak you also to the children of Israel, saying, TRULY MY SABBATHS YOU SHALL KEEP: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that you may know that I am the LORD that does sanctify you.

Leviticus 19:3 You shall fear every man his mother, and his father, AND KEEP MY SABBATHS: I am the LORD your God.

Q6. Thank you Lord, so the Sabbath is one of the 10 commandments that give us the knowledge of what sin is when broken?

A6. Exodus 20:8-11 [8], REMEMBER the SABBATH DAY, to KEEP IT HOLY. <Why?> {Because it is a memorial looking back to the finished work of creation that JESUS made it a Holy day of rest for mankind and commands us to keep it as a Holy day} [9], Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: [10], But the SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH of the LORD thy God {This is a direct reference from God's Word defining what the Sabbath is; The SABBATH = the SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEEK}: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: <WHY> [11], For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the SEVENTH DAY: wherefore the LORD BLESSED THE SABBATH, and HALLOWED IT. {Reference is backward not forward to Genesis 2:1-3}

Q7. Thank you Lord Jesus for letting us know your truth in regards to the Lord's day. So why do people call "Sunday" the Lords day when there is no connection or scripture reference to Sunday being called "the Lords day"?

A7. Danial 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, AND THINK TO CHANGE TIMES AND LAWS: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

Matthew 15:3-9 [3], But he answered and said to them, WHY DO YOU ALSO TRANSGRESS THE COMMANDMENT OF GOD BY YOUR TRADITION? [4], For God commanded, saying, Honor your father and mother: and, He that curses father or mother, let him die the death. [5], But you say, Whoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatever you might be profited by me; [6], And honor not his father or his mother, he shall be free. THUS HAVE YOU MADE THE COMMANDMENT OF GOD OF NONE EFFECT BY YOUR TRADITION. [7], YOU HYPOCRITES, WELL DID ESAIAS PROPHESY OF YOU, SAYING, [8], THIS PEOPLE DRAWS NEAR TO ME WITH THEIR MOUTH, AND HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS; BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR FROM ME. [9], BUT IN VAIN THEY DO WORSHIP ME, TEACHING FOR DOCTRINES THE COMMANDMENTS OF MEN.

Thank you Lord Jesus. So Sunday worship is a man-made teaching and tradition that is not biblical and has led many to break your Sabbath 4th commandment of the 10 commandments. Thank you so much for answering our questions dear Lord...

John 8:31-32 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

.................

May God bless you all as you seek him through His Word

The 8th day ( Sunday) is the day of resurrection in which the risen Lord was first worshipped. Matthew 28 ( Matthew 28:9, Matthew 28:17). The unfolding of the 8th day ( Sunday) for worship is in John 20.

Paul preached on the day of resurrection ( Acts of the Apostles 20:7) and tried to keep the sabbath but was rejected ( Acts of the Apostles 21:27-30 ). Paul testified once more on the sabbath ( Acts of the Apostles 22 esp. Acts of the Apostles 22:20-23) but was rejected by sabbath keepers. Paul testified he had kept the law and there was no grounds for his rejection ( Acts of the Apostles 23:1) & note that this was the day after the sabbath ( you have to read the progress from Acts 22 to Acts 23 to determine).

Note on the resurrection day, Paul faced a divided council of which one faction supported a doctrine of resurrection & another did not ( Acts of the Apostles 23:6-13).

It seems that unfolding events determined that & ultimately the will of God that the Sunday worship would be the day.

The only problem with that teaching is that there is only seven days in the week not eight and God has only blessed and made holy the seventh day according to the scriptures *Genesis 2:1-3 which he commands us to keep as a holy day of rest *Exodus 20:8-11.

But if he was buried late in the day on Friday he would have risen late in the day on Monday. Jesus made it absolutely clear that he would be in the 'grave' for 72 hours.
Jesus died Friday and rose Sunday:

[Luke 24:1, 13, 18-25 NASB]
1 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. ...
13 And behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was about seven miles from Jerusalem. ...
18 One [of them,] named Cleopas, answered and said to Him, "Are You the only one visiting Jerusalem and unaware of the things which have happened here in these days?" 19 And He said to them, "What things?" And they said to Him, "The things about Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word in the sight of God and all the people, 20 and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered Him to the sentence of death, and crucified Him. 21 "But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, it is the third day since these things happened. 22 "But also some women among us amazed us. When they were at the tomb early in the morning, 23 and did not find His body, they came, saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said that He was alive. 24 "Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just exactly as the women also had said; but Him they did not see." 25 And He said to them, "O foolish men and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!

Friday: Jesus was tried, crucified and buried before sunset (the start of Sabbath)
Saturday: Sabbath, the women unable to finish anointing the corpse.
Sunday: First day of the week. The third day since Jesus was arrested, tried and crucified. Women return to the tomb with spices and find it empty. Apostles visit tomb and find it empty. Jesus appears to disciples on road to Emmaus.

See the story of Queen Esther calling for prayer for another example of three days including part of a day rather than a full 72 hours.

God has only blessed and made holy the seventh day according to the scriptures

Which is greater: Jesus Christ rising from the dead or the Sabbath?

This should be a no brainer.

Also, answer the question or don't answer at all please, I'm not going to get into another pointless spitting match going down various tangents.

You have no scripture to support your tradition do you.
