I never want to forgive people or repent for my sins. I can't stop loving things in the world and want to do what I know are sins. My knowledge and understandings of worldly things make me fear prayers for what I want are useless. Almost 23 years after being saved, I still can't think I would be happier living the way God wants me to.

It is not that I do not want to be close to God, of course. I do want to increase my faith in Him and stop pretending He is not more important than all living creatures and things on Earth. But there is no way I can make myself want to stop doing anything I love to do and liking objects I love. That would mean never eating chocolate again, for example.

Am I being a bad woman and doomed to reject God forever if I never repent, forgive, and stop wanting to sin? How can I bring myself back to wanting God more than anything else?
God gives you the strength to do it thru his grace its not by your own doing, but at the same time we do have a will and God cannot override our free will. It is our decision everyday to decide if we will walk with God or walk with the world.Take up your cross and follow Jesus, it is not easy and you will never be perfect at doing it that is why we have Jesus as and advocate for us. Jesus atonement is not so we can sin on purpose but it for when we mess up. Jesus atonement was for all current and future sins we may commit. You will never be able be to do anything without prayer, prayer makes everything possible. And its not somthing that happens over night or in a couple weeks. Is it possible for a big miracle to happen, yes but everything is in Gods timing not our. Changes can take several months before you see any significant results. I remember when someone told me if i want to follow God i have to stop listening to rap and all that other nonsense heavy metal music, And i thought how was that possible i dont ever see that happening, and several months later i ended up falling in love with Christian music and listening to mostly Christian music now.

Salvation is free, but if you wish to know the deep abiding Joy of God that is conditioned on your obedience.

Salvation is the free gift of God, but as I read the New Testament, I am soberly reminded that God's gracious gift is accessed by a repentant faith in Lord Jesus demonstrated by denying self, and then listening to and following Jesus to be saved.

We access God's saving grace through faith:

Romans 5:1-2 (NIV)
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.

Faith always includes repentance:

Acts 20:29-21 (WEB) 20
You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house. 21 I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.

Therefore, a Gospel Faith in Christ Jesus is one in which we are disciples of Jesus, obedient to our rightful Lord and Master.

Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)
19
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

Our faith must lead us to be Christ's disciples, to follow Him, or our faith is a lie.

1 John 2:4-6 (WEB) 4 One who says, “I know him,” and doesn’t keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth isn’t in him. 5
But God’s love has most certainly been perfected in whoever keeps his word. This is how we know that we are in him: 6 he who says he remains in him ought himself also to walk just like he walked.

That Gospel Faith (
denial of self to follow Jesus) is represented in Baptism (Romans 6; Colossians 3:1-15), without which we will not be resurrected to be with Christ Jesus.

Romans 6:1-5 (WEB)
1
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 May it never be! We who died to sin, how could we live in it any longer? 3 Or don’t you know that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will also be part of his resurrection

Therefore, we receive eternal life by an obedient faith demonstrated by denying self and following Jesus.

Romans 6:19-23
(NIV)
Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness. 20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. 21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! 22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

John 10:27-28 (WEB) 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give eternal life to them.
They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

Galatians 6:7-9 (WEB)
7 Don’t be deceived.
God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption. But he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 9 Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up.

Romans 8:12-13 (NIV)
12 T
herefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.

John 15:10 (WEB) 10 If you keep my commandments you will remain in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.

Luke 9:23-24 (WEB) 23 H
e said to all, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever will lose his life for my sake, will save it.

Matthew 10:38 (WEB)
38
He who doesn’t take his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me.

1 Timothy 4:16 (WEB)
Pay attention to yourself and to your teaching. Continue in these things, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

Revelation 3:1-5 (WEB)
1 I know your works, that you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.
2 Wake up and keep the things that remain, which you were about to throw away, for I have found no works of yours perfected before my God.
3 Remember therefore how you have received and heard. Keep it and repent.
If therefore you won’t watch, I will come as a thief, and you won’t know what hour I will come upon you.
4 Nevertheless you have a few names in Sardis that didn’t defile their garments. They will walk with me in white, for they are worthy.
5 He who overcomes will be arrayed in white garments, and I will in no way blot his name out of the book of life, and I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Blessings,
Steven

I was not trying to say I think eating chocolate is a sin. Rather my thinking was I can't stop loving a thing that is manmade and therefore part of the world, not from heaven. BTW I also have OCD.

Right, I got that! So first if you don't want it don't say it. You do not love chocolate, weakness to it, crave ect, maybe? I get what your saying same 1st for me for sweets. And same for OCD again maybe you have like traits again if you don't want that to control you quit investing in it. Get in the word, study it, say it.
Going by your age maybe you had, heard or remember the songs from the Life album by Bill Gather Trio?!? After reading your post I thought right off "In-put= Out-put!" IE your/our/all sinners job is to focus our all on Him. Yet start where your at in getting the "in-put," in, in your ears, eyes, mind heart, that will get you the out-put that you want. In doing this "getting in the word so it can and does get in you your empowering the Holy Spirit.

Are you close to other people? If so, how did you become close to them? By staying away from them and wishing you were closer? Or by spending time with them, getting to know them, speaking with them every day? Those are the same ways we become closer to God. Attending a good church will help a great deal.

After my salvation I did make Jesus a big priority, going to weekly Bible studies and church on Saturdays. That went on for years. After the Bible study group broke up, I looked for another one, but could not hold on. It just was not right for me after years of belonging to the same kinship group. For a while I still went to church, but eventually I stopped going there too.

Being right with god is not the amount of "holy" activity we do, but having the personal relationship that comes from prayer (talking with god) fellowship (yeah church) and the Word (letting His Word lift you up).

Activity is supposed to be the result of our relationship not a cause for it.

Did she say that her personal relationship with God is dependent on the activities she does?

Or

Is she saying that the activities she did at the time, before those activities no longer existed, helped her remain faithful?

Hebrews 10:24-27 (KJV)
24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. 26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.

Not sure, I just write and ask when I am not sure and seek clarification.

But they are in a bad place (though still in teh palm of Gods hand) and need to find their way out of teh hole they dug.

Confession is the huge first step, then restoring the old habits.

Whatever your motive, the accusatory approach that you take in your discussion with her is not conductive to understanding and healing. Maybe you could try asking her instead. That way, you are showing her respect as a fellow human being who has shared her feelings with us with the hope of love and assistance, rather than make it look like you are attacking her for something that she may not be guilty of.

Not accusing her in the least. Just going to the heart of the matter. And running with the info she provided.

I care that she rises above this lousy place she finds herself in.

Why do you think God doesn't want you to eat chocolate? What else in this world do you think God forbids you from doing? Do you think you have be completely separate from every activity that the world does to be a "good" Christian? I ask in order to understand.

I think worrying there will be no chocolate in my second life, and therefore not wanting Jesus to return to Earth before I die so I can keep eating it, is against God. I always think I can't live without chocolate only because I love the stuff.

God probably does not like my daydreaming about what life would be like if I did not live with my mom or how I spend so much time online, but never to study Christianity or read the Bible.
