2 Kings 2:1-15 Elijah and Elisha

This is truly the road to obtaining the double portion/blessing and picking up the mantle to preach the Gospel of Christ. Such a mantle fell onto Timothy under the instruction and guidance of Paul.

The experiences differ from every believer, but the road is the same.

1- a sinner must be brought to Gilgal (be circumcised in the heart/convicted of sin/the old stone heart must change)

2- they must press forward to Bethel (get the assurance they are saved/born again/converted)

3- they must press forward still onto Jericho (conquer the curse/the lusts of the flesh/the world)

4- they must press onwards again until they reach Jordan (cross Jordan in order to pick up the mantle ('be a conquerer/victor over the 2nd death) or in earthly terms become an (effective witness for Christ), never resting or being content in simply being an efficient or weak witness for Christ.

I posted this recently in another thread from Hezekiah's reforms, and while it pertains
more to the church as a whole, also applies to each of us individually.

2 Chronicles 29:16 And the priests went into the inner part of the house of the LORD, to cleanse,
and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the LORD into the court
of the house of the LORD. And the Levites took, to carry out abroad into the brook Kidron.

The brook Kidron is another "landmark" that holds spiritual significance to our "Holy Land" experience.

The road to Jericho is where you get to be "the good Samaritan". Old Testament types are very
useful, especially when you combine them with the Gospels, where Yeshua met blind Bartimaeus
and Zacchaeus. The road to Jericho seems to be the place where we are starting to get our eyes
off of ourselves and are ministering to others, as a step up in faith.

Hebrews 11:30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about
seven days.

It is a full season of ministry. Always abounding.

1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable,
always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is
not in vain in the Lord.

thanks brother. I'm the only sole carer for my mother. The scripture is so real and living. Thankyou for the comforting words.

If God permits us to get past Jericho. Onwards and upwards it should be...keep on believing and praying.

God has predestinated all our paths. When sinners, we once thought we could design our own paths in life, but God in his Sovereignty knows all. He sees the big picture, we see through a glass darkly and live by faith and obey him. For some it could me a ministry, for some it could be 'a good Samaritain', for others God could open a door to something new....

Never rush into anything as a Christian. Wait on the Lord and he will deliver and instruct us.
