Wait just a moment, You seem to equate. “The Law” with the Ten Commandments, while John has been talking about “Loving God and others”. Yes the “Mission Statement” is the same for the Old and the New: “Love God and secondly others with all your heart, soul, mind and energy.” Jesus added a lot to the Old Law by redefining neighbor, adultery, murder, hate, calling a brother fool, lust and more.
The Law we have today is written on our hearts:
1 John 3: 20 If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. 21 Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God
1 John 3:3 All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.
Yes sir! All that's included what 1 John says, but let's get the word from the word of God which is Jesus in Matthew19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 17 And he said unto him,
Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
So Jesus said, “
but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments,” No matter what you read in the Bible, these commandments have to be kept to enter into life, or you will be judge by them. Now let’s read further into what Jesus is saying here in Matthew…
Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, 19
Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
This includes the Sabbath day on the seventh day of the week (Saturday).
This also include,
Thou shalt have no other gods before me. (this includes Easter, Christmas, going to church on Sunday and any other pagan or tradition of men that may cause another God to be worship)
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. (Exodus 20:3-8)
Paul in Romans could not be any plainer with: “another considers every day alike” Are you not considering Saturday “more sacred than another”?
Paul in Colossians calls out “a Sabbath day” specifically and says these are but “shadows”. The reality is found in Christ and He worship 24/7.
There are lots of things the Jews were commanded to do, which we know today we do not have to do like the foods we eat and circumcision.
I am not making Sunday a “Holy Day”, but see this as the Jubilee age.
What day did Jesus not worship?
I'll already explain those thing Paul says in those verses in the other post. The Jubilee age will come after Jesus second coming. And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and
which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and
they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but
they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. (Revelation 20: 4-6)
This is all future and so much will happen as well as Israel coming out of captivity.
You said for 1 Peter 2:9 “Peter is talking about the Children of Israel” but look at the context: 1 Peter 2:10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
That is not referring to Jews, but Gentiles.
Again in 1 Peter 2: 9 But ye are a
chosen generation,
a royal priesthood, an
holy nation, a
peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
Now let's see where Peter got this from. Let's go into (Exodus 19: 1-6) Let's look at the 5th & 6th vs.; "Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then
ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: (6th vs.) and ye shall be unto me a
Kingdom of Priest, and
a holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the
children of Israel."
Gentiles never been been called these things unto the Lord. You don't pay attention to what you reading. You stuck on your belief more than what your eyes are seeing, when you read this Bible. Again,
"Hear this word that the Lord hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying, you only have I known of all the families of the earth: Therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities." (Amos 3:1-2). When I post this scripture last time you should of known God only deal with Israel when it comes to his priesthood.
Didn't I also post in Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Nothing changes.
There is nothing in your answer to “How can one who is not of the lineage of Israel, become partakers of the covenant of God?” which stated the Gentiles must observe the Old Law.
Pay attention to what your reading...Again in (Acts 2:36-40) "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. (37th verse) Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their hearts, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the Apostles, men and brethren, what shall we do? (38th verse) Then Peter said unto them,
Repent, and be Baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the Remission of Sins, and
ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (39th verse) For the promise is unto you, and to your children and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. (40th verse) And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, save your selves from this untoward generation."
(Acts 4:10-12) "Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the
name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. (11th verse) This is the stone that was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. (12th verse)
Neither is there salvation in any other: For there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."
What is the purpose of man? (Ecclesiastes 12:13) "
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: For this is the whole duty of man." Also (Deuteronomy 10:12-17) "and now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to
fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to
love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul. (13th verse)
To keep the commandments of the Lord and his statues, which I command thee this day for thy good? (14th verse)
Behold the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the Lord's thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is, (15th vs.) Only the Lord had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them,
even you above all people, as it is this day. (16th verse) Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart and be no more stiff-necked. (17th verse) For the
Lord your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward."
Is this law for the children of Israel only? No. (Leviticus 24: 22) "
Ye shall have one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country: For I am the Lord your God."
Yes, the “kingdom” of the Old Law and Old Testament was a physical place, so you could actually have nonbelievers in the promised land, but the New Kingdom is spiritual so nonbelievers cannot reside in the New Kingdom. Under the Old Promised Land type kingdom Gentile had to observe the same Law with the Jews to stay in the Promised Land. Today nonbelievers can not enter the Kingdom.
The Law today is not written on stones, but the hearts of people.
Yes, they are written in our hearts and also the word of God, which is this Bible! Paul says in
(Rom. 13:7-10) (v.7) Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. (v.8)
Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. That’s the biblical definition of love, the keeping of God’s law. (v.9)
For this, THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, THOU SHALT NOT KILL, THOU SHALT NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS,
THOU SHALT NOT COVET; and
if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely,
THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR AS THYSELF. (v.10)
Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
And that is what God’s holy commandments are all about; the first four tells you how to love God and the last six tells you how to love your neighbor. If you love your God you will not do any thing to offend him, like having other gods before him. You will do as he says like
remember the sabbath day to keep it holy on the seventh day of the week. If you love him you will obey him when he tells you not to eat certain meats etc… And the same goes for your fellow man, if you love your neighbor you wouldn’t steal from him, you wouldn’t kill him, you wouldn’t try and sleep with his wife and so on and so forth. This is God’s definition of love and it is perfect in its ways. So if you say that you know God, but you don’t keep his commandments, lets see what the Lord had specially written for you. (See Exodus 20: 1-17)
(1John 2:3-4) (v.3)
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. (v.4) he that saith,
I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
