STOP EXTREME GUN CONTROL BILL H.R. 127
jbs.org/alert/stop-extreme-gun-control-bill-h-r-127/

"Members of Congress are seeking to pass an extreme and unconstitutional
gun control bill that would effectively nullify the Second Amendment.

Here are the highlights of H.R. 127’s provisions:

It creates a national firearm registry that anyone – including every
level of law enforcement and the military – can access.

The registry would require one to tell the government exactly
where one’s firearms are stored.

One would need a license simply to own a firearm.
Mandatory “psychological evaluations” are required receive this license.

One would need to pay $800 for “firearm insurance.”

It would enact extreme ammunition restrictions, including
a ban on magazines more than 10 rounds.

Violating the above provisions could lead to a prison sentence
of up to 40 years and a fine of up to $150,000."

I know right? Next thing they'll be requiring people to register their cars too, even hold a licence to drive one and making them take out insurance!

(1) REQUIRED INFORMATION.—Under the firearm registration system, the owner of a firearm shall transmit to the Bureau—

“(A) the make, model, and serial number of the firearm, the identity of the owner of the firearm, the date the firearm was acquired by the owner, and where the firearm is or will be stored

-------

(B) ACCESS.—The Attorney General shall make the contents of the database accessible to all members of the public, all Federal, State, and local law enforcement authorities, all branches of the United States Armed Forces, and all State and local governments, as defined by the Bureau.

I suppose that gives thieves options. They know exactly which firearms are present, and where they are stored. Or they can see which homes do not have firearms and may be a softer target.

I don't want to jinx things, but I will say.... them proposing this stuff with the current Supreme Court is not smart, strategically speaking. Even if they passed all of the above, I think the Supremes would hear it in an expedited session and shoot it down with a 6 to 3 or 5 to 4 ruling.

This is where the gun grabbiness works against them. All this kind of stuff makes people paranoid and want to buy guns. That is exactly what happened to me in my last 2 years living in California. They kept proposing all these laws and restrictions and that was enough to help push me over the fence, as a fence sitting person who wanted to have the right to buy a gun, but otherwise would put if off almost indefinitely, to actually bite the bullet and buy the gun before various laws got passed and implemented.

In the mean time some of this stuff may actually help some of gun stores, and gun manufacturers who have been slowly going out of business during the Trump administration.

I also think this big list of items may just be a negotiating tactic such as "Rejection then retreat", which is extremely standard and normal in many negotiations, sales pitches etc.

Sorry I do not know the background.
I saw many links I could have posted,
this one seemed to be ok, nothing more.

commies ?
the star spangled banner like you have never heard - Bing video

Never heard the "Talkin' John Birch Paranoid Blues"?

Bob Dylan said:
Red stripes in the American flag!
Betsy Ross.
Now Eisenhower he's a Russian spy
Lincoln and Jefferson and that Roosevelt guy
And to my knowledge there's just one man
That's really and truly an American
And that's George Lincoln Rockwell.
I know for a fact he hates commies, cos he picketed the movie 'Exodus'.
Well I finally started thinking straight when I run out of things to investigate
Couldn't imagine nothing else so now I'm home, investigating myself.
Hope I don't find out too much.
Good God.

“(1) IN GENERAL.—The Attorney General shall issue to any person who has applied for a license pursuant to subsection (c) and has paid to the Attorney General the fee specified in paragraph (2) of this subsection a policy that insures the person against liability for losses and damages resulting from the use of any firearm by the person during the 1-year period that begins with the date the policy is issued.

“(2) FEE.—The fee specified in this paragraph is $800.”.

Those in poverty will now find it even more expensive to defend themselves. Meanwhile the wealthy can just hire security that come with their own guns.

Is it offensive to people?

It is not to all. But it is an advocacy group, rather than a non-biased source. However, all the facts in it check out so far.

The use of that source just distracts from the provisions of the bill itself.

Here is more info on the group:

John Birch Society - Wikipedia

You certainly don't have to remove it either. It is just another sub-topic.

This is how politics works.
You bring forward a bill that has no hope of passing into law to get the ball rolling on negotiations.

The status quo isn’t tenable, there must be changes.

From what little I’ve read of the bill it’d get a unanimous decision, striking it down.

This bill is insane.. Honestly, as Christians, if this law is passed are we to comply with it? This is making our families vulnerable to give that much detail to the general public where people who would want to do us harm would have access to it.

. Your source thinks that a law can "nullify" a constitutional amendment?

Why worry about this bill? If it’s clearly unconstitutional the Supreme Court will strike it down, and the court is conservative to boot.

Not a fan of the data being available to the public. This information should only be available to official agencies, and only when there's a reason for it.

The rest seems perfectly reasonable to me.

None of it is reasonable.

I think that at the very least, having to get a license and insurance of a firearm is completely reasonable. Why should a firearm have less requirements to own than a car?
