Speaking with the Register, Catholic commentator Mary Eberstadt discusses the profound challenge that the pro-abortion-rights president poses for the faithful.

Catholic author and commentator Mary Eberstadt recently made a direct public appeal to President Joe Biden ahead of the March for Life, appealing for him to make an appearance at the event.

In the essay, which was published by Newsweek, Eberstadt advised the pro-abortion-rights president that an appearance at the pro-life march would be a way to put his inaugural speech’s promise to seek unity “into action with a gesture that could reassure one group of people you singled out: Americans who did not vote for you.”

Not unexpectedly, President Biden completely disregarded Eberstadt’s eloquent appeal for a unifying appearance at the March for Life. Instead, the president, who is Catholic, manifested his continuing support for the abortion lobby by announcing his repeal of the pro-life Mexico City Policy that bans taxpayer funding of overseas abortions on Jan. 28, one day before the March for Life took place.

Speaking with the Register by email, Eberstadt — who on Feb. 2 was named as the inaugural holder of the Panula Chair in Christian Culture at the Catholic Information Center in Washington, D.C. — elaborated on why she wrote her Newsweek opinion piece.

I gave a funny react because the idea of Biden being at anything pro-life is laughable. He'd never do it. His promises of unity were rescinded after the capitol insurrection, but even if that hadn't happened he'd still not do anything like that.

Joe Biden had his chance. And he did just what he told us he would do, earnest devout faithful Catholic that he says he is. But I'm sure he is still filled with happy memories of the pre-inauguration mass he attended, and of all the sweet words spoken there. The souls of millions are on the line. And the USCCB sort of managed to say something correct. And old Joe could blow it off and still have a bunch of bishops as tight friends.

Podesta apparently had a hand in getting Bergolio picked as pope. That's of course all 'fake news' but I'm wondering if -- nah -- I can't even go there. It's just too scary to contemplate.

It’s disgusting. If I only depended on the shepherds of this church, I would of left long ago. And I still struggle. Thank God for the good ones we have.

But one had to ask him. And that because he proclaims himself a devout Catholic. A devout Catholic would at least try to make an appearance.

She gave him the rope to hang himself. The bonus is we know what kind of unity Biden promotes now.

Did you see what I added to that post?

There are good ones. And still quite a few. But even there we don't depend on them for the simple reason that in a few years they could all be replaced.

I think we scrounge up all the pre-2013 Catechisms we can, read our Bibles, get to mass and confession when we can, pray like our lives depend on it, and reach our neighbors to try to save what and whom we can. God has to figure out his bishop problem.

To me, just me speaking and I speak as I believe the Spirit leads not to appease anyone. This all gives a whole new meaning to the words " come out of her my people" spoken in Revelation 18:4. And yes I'm serious. Why ? Because in due time I believe God is taking this monster down and that may be sooner than many of us think and I can't say what that will look like. It could be catastrophic for the church, our country, even the world. I said in prayer and devotional time this morning in a zoom meeting, it's as if this whole regime is world wide and many from the church who are or seem to be in agreement are spitting in God's face. Joe Biden and those policies are non Christian. We have a demonic regime on our hands, not in the sense they worship Satan, perhaps, but pass laws in alignment with Satanic ideas not Gods. To pass himself off as Catholic or even solid Christian is total foolishness. Honestly it's horrifying. And they will come after churches who don't conform, you wait that's coming. Even full Communist regimes keep churches who tout and preach the party line. Lines are being drawn in the sand.

From every church and denomination God knows His people, they are the remnant of true believers, these have kept their first love. Those who aren't His, never had it possibly ( first love, Jesus Christ)... I pray for Joe, he hasn't made one right move yet in the spirit realm but for the dark side. God loves the man hates the sin, I pray the Spirit convicts Joe but I'm afraid he may have been turned over to delusions.

Doesn't anyone ever get kicked out? Aren't staunchly pro-abortion and Catholic a contradiction in terms?
I know. It makes no sense. Seems the complete opposite of what we are instructed not to do in Scripture.

That's his bishop's job. His bishop is William Francis Malooly of the diocese of Wilmington, Delaware. It's up to him. If his bishop will not do his job there is not much recourse. A bishop who refuses to shepherd his flock correctly is complicit in the sins of the errant members of his flock.
Aren't staunchly pro-abortion and Catholic a contradiction in terms?
Most of us think so. But then what do we know?

One thing I will say about clergy within my own Church, many have stars in their eyes and are deeply influenced by status. That much is obvious
Star struck?
