I'm 20 and have always considered myself a Christian but only recently started actually reading the Bible and going to church, but now instead of feeling more certain and peaceful about my faith, I find myself feeling more worried that God will send me to hell for not being a good enough Christian. I wanted to ask for advice--does God really love me and want me? I just read Revelations 3:15-3:17, and in addition to other verses I've been reading, it seems like He is always ready to spit me out? Also how will I know if I am going to be saved, and if not, how can I become saved and remain that way? Sorry this is so long and probably sounds very ignorant, but I would really appreciate any advice and insight

Dear sister Jesus loves you to bits. No one in the whole universe loves you as much as God does. However so much in our lives can stand in the way for God to love us, even us doubting Him, or fearing Him because of our sins, or plain unbelief.

So in bad spirituality - those things in you which hurt you, God and neighbour, He spits you out, so that in good, God and neighbour loving spirituality He can be close to you with His love.

So it is only those things that stand in the way for us to be close to God that God is upset with not with you hurting all of that.

When we hurt our sin and wrongdoing then He is always a loving gracious God to us because of Jesus. Then He never spits us out but graciously restores us to communion with Him.

Peace.

You can't be good enough. Those that live thinking they can merit God's favor are in for a surprise. It sounds like you need to talk to the Lord about it. It is worth your whole life to do so, but don't expect answers right away. After all, it is not up to you to make you into what God has in mind for you.

He made you for HIS purposes --not yours. I'm praying you will learn to enjoy that fact. This life is not about you.

"He that comes to me I will never reject."

No one gets to heaven by being good enough. No one will ever be good enough to be worthy of salvation, or God's love.
Christ died for sinners, Romans 5:8. If you believe that your sins have been forgiven by Jesus, trust that it's only through him, and not good deeds, that you have eternal life and confess him as Lord, Romans 10:9, you are saved and a child of God, John 1:12.

Whatever circumstances, or feelings, may tell you, God loves you very much and sent Jesus to die for you so that you could become his child and have every blessing in Christ, Ephesians 1:3. No one can snatch you from his hand, John 10:29, nor separate you from his love, Romans 8:38-39. All this is a gift from God, Romans 6:23 - we can't earn it by our deeds, we just receive it.

There's no such thing as being "good enough".

The Christian life isn't a moral test, it's not about who is the most moral, who can win the most brownie points, who can get the mos gold star stickers.

The Christian life is about the God who has invaded the world with love to save sinners, who meets us in our sin, and saves us. It is a life that comes from God's grace, His kindness and love toward us, which is unconditional and boundless. In light of His grace, we can then be moved to faithfulness. The vertical dimension of the Christian life--us before God--is settled and established by Jesus, by His death and resurrection. Which is given to us freely, it is grace, God's own endless generosity. The horizontal, that's where good works come in, loving our neighbor, feeding the hungry, being faithful servants and disciples of Jesus in this world.

Jesus Christ came to save sinners.
That's you and me.

God shows His love in that even as sinners, Christ died for us.

Jesus said that it's not the healthy that need a doctor, but the sick.

The Church is a hospital for sinners, not a country club for saints.

Christ's Church is the Church of misfits and moral failures. Every saint is at once and also the same time a miserable sinner. We Lutherans have a term for that: Simul iustus et peccator, Latin for "Both saint and sinner".

That we are sinners is obvious by our failure to be righteous according to God's commandments. That we are saints is by the grace of God alone, for we receive the righteousness of Jesus Christ as pure gift. That's what it means to say that we are freely justified by grace through faith. We are freely justified--made righteous--by God's grace. It is not a righteousness of works, of actions, of things we do, say, think, or feel; it is the righteousness of Jesus, a righteousness which is given to us. That is what it means to be clothed in Christ (Galatians 3:27). That's why St. Paul says that Christ "be came sin so that we could become the righteousness of God" (2 Corinthians 5:21).

It's not about you being good enough.
It's about God being good enough.
And God is good enough, loving us even in our unloveliness.

That's why He saves us.
That's why Christ came into the world.
That's why Jesus died for you.
That's what makes you saved.

...Also how will I know if I am going to be saved, and if not, how can I become saved and remain that way? ...

Firstly, I want to say, don’t be anxious of your life. God is good, what ever He does, will be good in the end.

Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don't let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.
John 14:27

Saved means in the Bible that your sins have been forgiven and so you are saved from the judgment that would come because of sin.

These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
Mat. 25:46

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23

Eternal life is promised for those who are righteous. And that is why I think this is very important matter to understand. Righteousness is something that comes visible in persons actions, but it does not mean that person is necessary perfect and has not done mistakes.

...He who does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever is born of God doesn't commit sin, because his seed remains in him; and he can't sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are revealed, and the children of the devil. Whoever doesn't do righteousness is not of God, neither is he who doesn't love his brother.
1 John 3:7-10

It is possible that also righteous person makes mistakes. The difference between unrighteous and righteous is that righteous person regrets, when he knows he has done wrongly. I think good example of this is:

"Two men went up into the temple to pray; one was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and prayed to himself like this: 'God, I thank you, that I am not like the rest of men, extortioners, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week. I give tithes of all that I get.' But the tax collector, standing far away, wouldn't even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner!' I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted."
Luke 18:10-14

That shows person is righteous, has the wisdom of the just, right understanding, which leads the person to correct direction and that is what is important.

For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises up again; But the wicked are overthrown by calamity.
Pro. 24:16

So, it is a good sign, if you know you have done wrongly and regret it. And if so, then you obviously want to be better and that is good thing and I believe it can be counted righteousness.

But the righteous will live by faith. If he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.
Hebrews 10:38

If you are loyal (faithful) to God, He is not going to reject you.

Also how will I know if I am going to be saved, and if not, how can I become saved and remain that way?

It the video below, how does the rusted piece of iron get cleaned?
What does it have to do to get cleaned, what role does it play in the process?
What is being done in order to clean it?
And who is choosing to do that?

The video author did not intend it to be a sermon, but I think it is. He uses baking soda in his tutorial to charge the water, but as he says , you can use salt too.

Matthew 5:13 "You are the salt of the earth..." ;)
Wasn't the power of the Gospel, Christ's story and sacrifice and resurrection carried to you by other Christians through the waters of 2000 years of time?

I think it was :)

But Christ says this Matthew 7:21

"Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord!' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father in heaven.

So having met Christ, and accepted the sacrifice that was made on your behalf, and acknowledging the proof of his divinity through his resurrection... Go seek the will of the Father. We can assume this will is generally built upon the commandments and instructions of Christ, know them. These show what the Father considers Good and what the Father considers Evil. But beyond that, there may be specific moment where a specific bit of Will is given you for you by the Holy Spirit. Seek those things, do those things. Pray for the Holy Spirit by which good is done and wisdom is given.

Luke 11:11-13

And get ready for an amazing life, the start of an eternal one ;)
