From even early grade school, there is a natural tendency for the strong to take
advantage of the weak. Someone considering themself to be superior to look down
and “defraud” a neighbor or a classmate they consider inferior.

1 Thessalonians 4:
6
that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother or sister,
because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified.
7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.
8 Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us
His Holy Spirit.

[G4122] pleonekteo=take advantage, <[G4123] pleonektes=covetous

2 Corinthians 12:
17
Did I take advantage of you by any of those whom I sent to you?
18 I urged Titus, and sent our brother with him. Did Titus take advantage of you?
Did we not walk in the same spirit? Did we not walk in the same steps?

This tendency is a manifestation of covetousness, and is a form of idolatry, when
the weaker party is a willing participant in this unclean relationship.

Ephesians 5:
5
For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who
is an idolater
, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath
of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
7 Therefore do not be partakers with them.

This state of affairs is totally unacceptable in the Body of Christ, and the Gospel turns
the dynamic of our relationships upside down.

Romans 15:
1
We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
2 Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.
3 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them
that reproached thee fell on me.

Philippians 2:
3
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind
let each esteem others better than himself.
4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests
of others.
