The choice is yours.

My natural self wants to bang chicks, do a lot of drugs, not care, and have my own way no matter what that is me naturally. That is as a natural person not a believer, then the believing part come in we accept God, believe Jesus Christ died and rose again. We believe and we are saved! Yay! We are saved now what?

You are given a spirit to be built up so that natural not caring, not loving, wanna bang chicks, not caring but anything but your own way these things start to go away.

Because of God gives love, joy, peace, self-control and the natural ways start to disappear over time and we move forward into God's love, showing love for him, and love for others in the correct manner which is what God desires for all believers after the accepting of the Lord Jesus Christ.

It is up to you what you decide to do with your life, feed the natural or feed the spiritual.

It is a struggle and it can cause suffering as partakers of Christ Jesus.

Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ and love others.

1 Peter 4:13 Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world.

You are right, about how the word can show us our true self when it come to our heart, Bella, for the word of God is quick, and powerful, sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the diving asunder of the soul and spirit (God's ways), and of the joints and marrow (the way our flesh acts ;our own ways), and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)

There is a great division between what our flesh is capable of, and what the spirit of God when we look towards Him, and sharing what we have learned from the word of God.

Even while being loving towards others, this can still cause people to either love you or hate you for walking in life honestly, rather than in rioting, drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. (Romans 13:13)

To me believe some people scoff at the idea of the true love that we receive from the spirit which causes all (1 Corinthians 13:1-7;13)

4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.13 Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.
