"For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. Peace and mercy be upon all who walk by this rule, upon the Israel of God." (Gal 6:15-16 RSV)

"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, that you may declare the wonderful deeds of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were no people but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy but now you have received mercy." (1Pet 2:9-10 RSV)

From where and to whom are those descriptions in 1 Peter written?

"and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.” (Exod 19:6 RSV)
“For you are a people holy to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, out of all the peoples that are on the face of the earth." (Deut 7:6 RSV)
"but you shall be called the priests of the LORD, men shall speak of you as the ministers of our God; you shall eat the wealth of the nations, and in their riches you shall glory." (Isa 61:6 RSV)

How are New Covenant Believers described?
"For you have not come to what may be touched, a blazing fire, and darkness, and gloom, and a tempest, ... But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering, and to the assembly of the first-born who are enrolled in heaven, and to a judge who is God of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks more graciously than the blood of Abel." (Heb 12:18, 22-24 RSV)

OT prophecies are applied to the New Covenant Assembly of God Israel from all nations

Joel 2:28 applied Acts 2:16, 17
2 Sam 7:12 & Psa. 132:11 applied Acts 2:30, 31 .... not some 1000 years still yet future
Zech. 12:9-10 applied in John 19:36, 37
Amos 9:11,12 applied Acts 15:13-16
Jer. 31:31, 33 applied Heb. 8:1, 4, 6-8
Mal. 4:5, 6 applied Luke 1:17; Matt. 11:13, 14

"And all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and those who came afterwards, also proclaimed these days. You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God gave to your fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your posterity shall all the families of the earth be blessed.’" (Acts 3:24-25 RSV)

"The prophets who prophesied of the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired about this salvation; they inquired what person or time was indicated by the Spirit of Christ within them when predicting the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glory. It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things which have now been announced to you by those who preached the good news to you through the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look." (1Pet 1:10-12 RSV)

"Rejected" as in past tense?
Yes and current sense too unless you reject the idea that the descendants of the Jews in the Time of Jesus aren't Israel at all and the Jews gathered from all over the earth in Israel are not valid to have a nation of that name were they are. God spells out who Israel is and it isn't gentile believers. The Nation of priest was what God wanted to do with Israel back in Jesus time if they had accepted him that is what would have happened. In the future they will have their eyes opened to whom they had pierced and then the nation would accept him and spread the Gospel (A nation of priests).

Yes and current sense too

So they rejected Him in the past and in the present?

So, what about the Israelites who were His Apostles...and the ones that were the first disciples of the early Church? And what about all the ones who are His disciples right now?

And what about we who believe and are grafted into the Commonwealth of Israel...now?

So let me get this straight you are going to differentiate parts of Israel and pick and choose what to graft into when God doesn't do this himself he calls Israel many things but never says there is 2 Israels, a Good believing one and a bad unbelieving one and we can be grafted into "good" Israel but not the "bad" Israel.
I believe we are grafted into Jesus both Jew and Gentile there is no Israel as our "host plant" as Israel is a very sinful unbelieving nation according to God himself.

Folks really should learn about grafting. When you graft something into another plant like a branch the branch itself remains the same species and bears the same flowers/fruit it doesn't change to match the host at all it is akin to a leach on the host plant essentially. The grafting/Israel argument tries to assert that the grafted branch now has to change to the characteristics of the host itself which in nature is false.
I was listening to a gardening program on talk radio last weekend and they have a new plant in that they grafted a tomato into a potato plant and they call it ketchup and fries. The tomatoes don't become potatoes or vice versa.

Hello, sorry to interrupt your conversation but do you know what species of plant that grafted in to the main tree (vine) in the Bible?

It was an olive tree.
So branches from an wild Olive tree grafted to an cultivate Olive tree (Romans 11:24)...so they both same species but one is wild and main Olive tree is the cultivate one...
So both grafted and natural branches bear same Olive fruit...

The Creator that grafted me in is the One Who made all trees.

When He says we are grafted into Israel, we bear that same fruit, as it was Created to be. Period.

*Science did not graft me in.
