Hello topher. Thanks for your reply.

When you say 'prophetic', do you mean you study the prophecies of others or are you giving prophecies yourself?

I don't think people should listen to me. I think people should listen to the word of God.

Matthew 7:15 is a key scripture that I hope people listen to.

Also Deuteronomy 13 and Deuteronomy 18. If a prophet says something that does not come to pass or if the prophet says something that leads people away from the true God then that person is a false prophet.

Every word of God is flawless, the truth of the word is a safeguard for us.

God Bless :)
I'm taking about releasing prophetic words like in the OP video.

God doesn't make mistakes, but people do. I just taught an entire class a week ago on the true context of deut 18 and the common misuses of that scripture.

I think some people may not have been listening at all to the Lord when they said "Thus sayeth the Lord".

I believe that stands as truth for both sides in this 'war'.

Just a short 20 verses after Paul wrote of the five fold ministry:

Eph 4:11 And he gave some to be Apostles, Prophets. Etc

the Spirit of God through Paul wrote this.

Eph 4:31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

I believe it is a word spoken for the body right now.

Walking in Love, putting away all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor and instead being kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving would keep us in peace.

I find this guy very respectable. He was one of Trump prophesiers that repented, and issued an apology. In this video he is explaining how his church group is going to handle issues like this in the future.

Hello Direct Driver. I was in AOG 1999-2007. I was given several prophecies/ words of knowledge that were not true. I think most everyone from that background will have a similar experience of having been given false words. Indeed a friend of my uncle's was confronted while visiting an AOG by a prophetess who said he was a wife beater. A single guy, that was his only visit to an AOG church.

Prophecy was cheapened so much, it was treated it like dross instead of gold and there was never any reining in of false prophets. Showmanship rather than reality.

However the Lord works for the good in all circumstances and our experiences in the AOG will be used for his glory.

God Bless :)
I was a member from 1983 to 1997. I never did the "tongues" thing, but I was neutral on the whole thing. One thing that bothered me in the end was this one older guy kept speaking out, "THUS SAYETH THE LORD..." and then give some standard message about Him being with us and we can trust Him. And he was doing this like every week. Keep in mind this was during a sermon where about 500 people were in attendance. It got so bad that they changed the rules and said that if people had a message from God they had to come to the podium and share - after they shared it with the pastor.

Now that I'm 20 years removed from it I'm amazed everyone put up with it. It's a hard thing to stop when people are given permission to just shout stuff out if "the Lord moves them".

Yeah, that's a good example of poor training and poor order.

Hello Direct Driver. I was filled with the Spirit and spoke in tongues at a youth meeting many years ago. And I had another experience where someone was sharing the gospel in languages they didn't know at a dinner meeting. In later years I saw what I considered to be acting the goat with tongues but the genuine experiences gave me something to hold on to.

Perhaps it was the same with your meeting, people had experienced the genuine thing, a word from the Lord and were holding on in remembrance of what had happened, hoping for it to happen again. But sadly the false prophets, flakes and attentions seekers are not often reeled in so the whole thing fizzles out.

There was a couple in AOG I remember- Joe and Eleanor. He used to shout out a big long prophecy about revival in the middle of a meeting and always ended with the line 'Is Mount Zion on the side of the North the City of the Great king?'. His wife used to run up the aisle and do a high kick shouting 'WOOOOOO!'. One time her shoe came flying off and the pastor had to duck. But I got speaking to them a couple of times after the meetings. their son was in his thirties and a recovering addict who's mind was gone, Eleanor wasn't quite right and used to go to her late mother's grave to talk to her. It was sad, they needed counselling and pastoral care but didn't get any from AG. It drove them to do the things they did for attention, which they didn't get.

I'm quite excited about what's happening in the USA though- many people are seeing through the false prophets now- really exciting times. God Bless :)

Here's the most recent,
I'm completely speechless and can's think of a suitable adjective to describe the video. If this is Christianity, I want nothing to do with it. It sounds like something you'd hear from leaders in Iran or North Korea, or the Taliban.

Perhaps Trump should sue these false prophets for misleading him into believing that he's the coming King!!

"WHO WE ARE

Spirit-Filled, Pentecostal and/or Charismatic believers can be from ANY Christian Denomination. They are those who believe that all the various spiritual gifts (or charisms) listed in the New Testament (including but not limited to the manifestations gifts found in I Corinthians 12:8-10) are active in the Church today and desirable in the life of the individual believer, for the edification of the Body of Christ.
It is not a requirement that the individual exercises/exhibits any specific spiritual gift(s)."

We need genuine prophecy at this crazy juncture in history. And yet who can trust the prophets? Satan sure played his cards well on this round.

He's playing his cards exceptionally well lately.

Perhaps this is a Romans 8:28 moment. Perhaps a time of renewal and purification will follow now that many false prophets have been exposed.
No more ear tickling but more truth telling.
God Bless :)

I'm 100% behind no more ear tickling and more truth telling, but let me ask you this: Renewal and purification of what? How?

Hello topher. Just my practical idea, but to talk about leadership and to use your post on love as an example. If there are as you suggested 'mistaken prophets', we can love them as they move to another area of service, one they are more suited to. Graciously, lovingly but they must be required to desist from sharing things in God's name that aren't true.

And we can love the flock as we protect the vulnerable from wolves. 1 Timothy 3 gives qualifications for leadership. IMHO we should reinstate these immediately to protect the flock. Many of the so called prophets and leaders of today would not pass the 1 Timothy 3 test. God Bless :)

Bingo! We can't just focus on the false, we have to have a strategy for the truth.

Also some posters on this thread imo do not believe in prophets and they're for today

as they are presentl themselves otherwise

The accusation is tiresome at this point...

What is tiresome is when you want to have a discussion about the prophetic with prophetic people but you constantly end up explaining it and defending to people who are not. It derails meaningful conversation, which is why belief specific areas were created.

Just because not everyone believes prophecy from God can be false and misleading does not, in fact, derail meaningful conversation.

Yes. You explain the 'tiresomeness' very well.

I think some of this discussion on false prophecies can be very useful ... even instructive ...
when done amongst those that actually believe in the prophetic.
