It does 'picture' the Inauguration ceremonies from beginning to end.

True. But the content is not based on the speech. It's gaffes from other speeches, I guess?

I'm not trying to be mean, but it's just not comedy gold. Plus, his speech yesterday was really encouraging and hopeful. So, I give it a thumbs down in terms of comedic value. It wasn't about the speech, despite the pretense. And it comes across as forced. Like, the only people who will think it's funny are those who have a certain amount of pre-existing animosity against him. It's an inside joke, I suppose.

I think the comedy in this thread is the same as mentioned in proverbs 29:9

It's satire, p.h.! Comedy. Like calling Trump's skin "orange" when it clearly isn't.

And yes, it plays off of Biden gaffes from other times.

That's helpful. Perhaps this is more like the Greek comedy of Aristophanes. All we need is some scatological innuendo and we're there.

Okay, fine. Lol. But it is kind of orange.

I have an honest, hypothetical question for you. If you have solid evidence that an election was stolen, should you fight it?
Evidence is only true if confirmed and taking it through the courts.

If it is systemic, you vote in politicians who will change the system.

There is always some fraud, at levels which do not change the outcome.

Anti democrates will always start with corruption will defeat me before the election is held. Over the years both parties have held power, which demonstrates elections working.

And then it touched on how Biden tended to talk, and who most observers think will REALLY be president in the not too distant future.
Not really - that was more Trumpish than Bidenish. It wasn't gaffes, it was rambling. You're right, to be funny it should be true-ish.

He was orange before he took so much criticism for it; then he changed his hair color and foundation makeup for the better. For some reason, he, in later appearances, would often have white circles around his eyes and white ears like a reverse racoon.

And yes, it plays off of Biden gaffes from other times.
What was the gaffe there?

I didn't find that funny at all.
Seemed more like far right wing propaganda. Just fed off the election smear campaign to try to get right leaning voters to think Biden is senile and that Kamila as president is the real goal of the election.

But none of that is true, just a continuance on right wing propaganda that has dominated the last 4 years.

I'll believe Biden is senile when he starts talking about 'covfefe' and 'hamberders'.

Well, I guess we'll just disagree, on all those points. I just thought it was funny.
I thought the video was funny too because the OP and their compatriots think it closer to reality than it is.

The divide between the Left and the Right is exacerbated by the fact that the Right tends to be* a bit more authoritarian than the Left and (here’s the payoff) assume that “the Left is just as authoritarian as us”.

In other words it’s “just what team that one picks” most everything else is “the same”.

This would merit a thread unto itself, and I shan’t be taking the thread OT defending it here in this one.

*this is a gross (over)generalization

What do you think of his inauguration speech? Was it full of gaffes?
Interesting you brought that up. I've listened to some stuff he's said recently and it's like he had a brain transplant. Kinda reminds me of that video of them literally throwing a "wooden" Hillary into a van, on top of all the related videos, yet she seems fine now. I don't know what to make of that stuff.

Meanwhile, I didn't see his speech (I didn't see Trump's in 2016 either). But Rand Paul did. Apparently he and Mike Wallace disagree on its quality. ;)

Then your title is misleading.
I'm talking about the one with snippets from various speeches and gatherings, not the cartoon. Though the one in the cartoon was actually from some of that, come to think of it. ;)

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be "cured" against one's will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.”

I agree with all of those statements. But regarding the first sentence, when courts refuse to hear the evidence because "you don't have standing", or for whatever reason, you're kinda dead in the water. A lot of cases fighting income tax end up like this. It's sort of the IRS being "too big to lose", as best as I can see.

Personally, I blame mail in voting for all this nonsense. I think we need IN PERSON voting. And if you're gonna be out of town, tough luck.

Anti democrates will always start with corruption will defeat me before the election is held. Over the years both parties have held power, which demonstrates elections working.
That was true when there was minor fraud. I was mentioning to someone that if we allow it now, it will only get worse in the future. Then I realized this IS the future because we allowed it in 1960.

My gripe with this election is not that Biden won, or that Trump lost. I've been on the losing side in countless election. It is that massive fraud in broad daylight was allowed to happen, period. That is not a D or R thing. That is a "destruction of our republic" thing. That matters. It's gonna leave a mark.

Heh. Yeah, Trump does it too, but they don't go off in incomprehensible as deeply or as often as Biden's did. And don't get me wrong. When Biden won the nomination I said to my friends that when you nominate a candidate, you want one that is strong where the other guy is weak. And Trump's biggest weakness is his speeches. So they selected Biden?! Seriously?! :D

Really we should be offering grace to all, including Trump and Biden.
When people speak live and address questions, in front of an audience, in front of a camera, it is possible that they make gaffes. Both Biden and Trump have made may gaffes.

When you write a document, you proof read it, you fact check your own statements etc. When you fire off a tweet, you might do some of that, but the standard will be less. When you are answering live questions, it is much more difficult, you try your best, but people aren't infallible with perfect memory and instant recall.
When people make mistakes and later correct those mistakes then I find that commendable, but sometimes it is best to ignore them, unless it is a significant mistake.

There are times that people may say the opposite of what they mean, like when Biden said
“We have put together, I think, the most extensive and inclusive voter fraud organization in the history of American politics,”
That was obviously mispoken, and it doesn't help when the people on the right try to make out that Biden supports voter fraud. It shows no grace from their part, just trying to win arguments or stir people.

Trump's misspellings and poor grammar and waffling going off on tangents and coming back in circles, does make it very hard to listen to him, to understand him, but so what.
But we should get concerned when the president suggests:
Shooting immigrants in the legs
Nuking hurricanes
banging the heads of arrested people
Calls to lockup political opponents who have not been charged of a crime
Mocking people and name calling
Lying about the deadliness or contagiousness of a pandemic
promoting unproven cures e.g. HCQ, injecting disinfectant...

We do need to try and seek to understand what the president means to say, rather than whether they misspoke or make simple gaffes.
Biden will have his moments to prove himself.
I'm fine for Biden to be called up for saying stuff about FDR and tv. He was obviously wrong and just making stuff up, or perhaps confussed about his memories of this situation. It doesn't mean that he is senile or unfit for office, but it is something at the time that he should have been called up on.

Well, opinions certainly vary on that one. ;)
The divide between the Left and the Right is exacerbated by the fact that the Right tends to be* a bit more authoritarian than the Left and (here’s the payoff) assume that “the Left is just as authoritarian as us”.
Honestly, I think that the left is by far more authoritarian. It is Trump that killed a lot of "authoritarian" government regulations. It is leftist governors and Mayors that killed off a lot of businesses with the lockdown. It is the left that wants draconian regulations to fight the mythical "global warming". It is the left that champions fascist policies like regulating toilets and light bulbs, and a minimum wage. The right is all about small government, while the left wants more. That is extremely obvious.

What the right is, is more "law and order". That is, if you are going to create a law, enforce it! We are a country of laws, not men. Laws are there to protect us from bad actors. When people burn the center of a city and the cops just watch, well, that's a problem in a civil society. You end up with things like Koreans on the roof with guns protecting their own businesses because the cops won't - or a guy defending himself with a gun in video recorded encounters and being brought up on charges (that can't possibly stick).
