Basically Charismatic and Pentecostals can often equate excitement with "the anointing" and that can lead to a lot of problems....

Yes, this is true.

Hello Michael. Sadly there could be another path. That is that people outside the church and even inside see all the false prophecies and the lack of repentance for them and are turned off the gospel as a result. God Bless

I consider all possibilities, including what you said :)

Step 1: People prophesy a second term for Donald Trump.
Step 2: Donald Trump supporters in the Christian community get excited.
Step 3: Donald Trump doesn't actually get re-elected
Step 4: The people who held to this prophesy overreact.
Step 5: This leads to persecution of the church.
Step 6: The persecution leads to revival.

Based on what we are currently seeing and hearing in America,
I see the scenario potentially going something more like this:

Step 1: People prophesy a second term for Donald Trump.
Step 2: Donald Trump supporters in the Christian community get excited.
Step 3: Donald Trump doesn't actually get re-elected

Step 4: All persons that voted for Donald Trump (approx. 75 million Americans) are labeled as 'domestic terrorists' and a 'danger to society' by those that did not vote for him.

Step 5: This leads to widespread persecution of all persons that voted for Donald Trump (Christian and non-Christian alike).

Step 6: The persecution leads to the revival of many Christians, many new salvations ... and, sadly, the departure of many from the faith ...

Step 5: This process results in greater self-examination and repentance in the church, bringing in a new era of discernment.
Step 6: The now-healthier church is more effectively used by God, doing its part in a revival.

Revival occurs daily in the life of each believer, the more who seek this reigniting of the divine flame within us, causes the whole body to be salted with this fire.

We are to keep our saltiness by being at peace with one another.

Event revival happens when enough of the body is the preservative that the world needs to be able to see Jesus through us.

Hello Sketcher. Judged on their track record I think sadly it's more likely that the church will continue to give an easy platform to those who prophesied falsely and they will continue to prophecy falsely. The message the false prophets give is very popular and superficial. It's the large gate and broad road to destruction and many are there who enter through it.

“A horrible and shocking thing has happened in the land:The prophets prophesy lies, the priests rule by their own authority, and my people love it this way.
But what will you do in the end?" (Jeremiah 5:31)

God Bless :)

The wise people have been warned ... But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
James 3:17 KJV
