Employees would receive a half-day's pay for being vaccinated.

"We do not want our employees to have to choose between receiving a vaccine or coming to work," Dollar General said. So the company has announced it will give its workers who receive a coronavirus vaccination four hours' pay, the Washington Post reports. The company wants to remove obstacles to receiving the vaccination, such as transportation and child-care costs. "We do not have an on-site pharmacy and currently do not have systems in place for employees to receive a vaccine at their work site," the company said. Base pay for Dollar General employees averages $9.80 an hour, per PayScale. The company has 157,000 employees.

What if they don't want the shot? Will they be pressured to get it?
That might be up to the employer or laws. I think people have the right , not to have to be around people, that refuse to get one. And put us at risk. I could get one , But I lost my drivers license. And cant get the shot, until I find it or get a new one. I'm mad , that I have to wait over that.

No, my driver license is my ID card. Once you get a drivers license in CA . That becomes your ID.

Trader Joe's, Aldi, Instacart are all doing something similar

A growing number of large US chains are offering their workers incentives to get Covid-19 vaccines.

Grocery chain Aldi said Tuesday that it will provide its hourly workers with two hours of pay for each vaccine dose they receive, giving workers up to four hours total of paid time off. Aldi also said it will "cover costs associated with vaccine administration" for employees who want to get vaccinated.

Aldi is "ensuring that all hourly workers who wish to receive the vaccine are able to do so without concern about losing pay or taking time away from work," the company said in a news release.

Aldi joins Dollar General, Trader Joe's and Instacart as major US companies that have made similar moves.

The spouse and I have been using Instacart a lot. I do feel some guilt that I'm 'outsourcing' some risk of getting COVID-19 to these workers, but glad to have the service, and glad these services are actively trying to protect their workers.
