As I've said before, that one speech wasn't solely responsible for inciting the riot. It would have happened, speech or not. But it certainly did more to encourage than to discourage it. And I can safely say that there would have been no riot at all if it weren't for the constant lies about election fraud being told by Trump since even before the election happened.

I mean, maybe if the whole 'massive election fraud' thing was being pushed by various right-wing media personalities and websites (you know the ones...) so much that it became widespread even if Trump himself didn't claim or endorse it, there might still have been a riot, although likely a smaller one. But we're just going into speculative territory now.

I just watched the video of the realtor asking for a presidential pardon from Donald:doh:. Is critical thinking just not taught in the States?

We’ve been anti-intellectual for decades now.

I blame the creationists.

We blame the atheists, agnostics.

For anti-intellectualism in America?
Forgive me, but I do not understand how this isn’t a black-hole of irony?

...Love thy neighbour?

I don't agree that "loving thy neighbor" means allowing terrorism to run rampant and unchecked, destroying the lives of millions of people, both physically and through radicalization, and tearing down freedom and democracy itself in order to set up a god-king as appointed dictator. It's not loving to the law-abiding citizens of this country and it's also not loving to our international neighbors to allow this country to turn into the "Christian" version of ISIS because we refuse to put a halt to the radicalization.

We don't love our neighbors by helping terrorists strap bombs to themselves so they'll have an easier time murdering the people they plan to kill.

The second amendment guarantees laws that allow them to buy guns. They do not allow them to use those guns against the government.
The 2nd amendment, ratified on December 15, 1791, allows them to buy muskets, not machine guns.

It did allow them to buy machine guns at first. Those were banned later.

Just like how the first amendment limits the government from restricting speech but only on 1700s technology.

And that is why I ditched my printing press for a mimeograph.

I’ve never heard an atheist say anything that hinted that they were anti intellectual. I have, however, heard Christian preachers says that Christians should “run away” from worldly knowledge and only read the Bible. I’ve also had more than one Christian woman tell me that they would hate to “be smart”.

So... yeah...

Hows the ratio of stupid over there?

Fundamentalists in any group of people are difficult to deal with. Unfortunately, Fundamentalist Christians now call themselves Evangelicals, thus giving a bad name to the whole movement.

If murder, assault and an insurrection seeking to stop the certification of an election are not serious, pray tell what is?
I think you are forgetting how white the Insurrectionism enthusiasts are.

Don’t you remember the old American adage “it ain’t no sin, if there’s no melanin”?
