I don't feel I have much to contribute lately. This used to be the most active denominational subforum.
Yes it did. Things have shifted. Nobody seems too interested in what we used to be interested in. It’s all partisan politics and Dear Abby stuff, along with poking holes in the faith and Christians in general. I spend more time in the cooking forum now than anywhere else these days. Things just change and evolve. What are you going to do when you feel you’ve tried everything? *shrug*

I read here everyday, and try to post as much as possible. I posted 3 articles here and got no reply, so I went to "Ethics". Throw a controversial out there and you'll get plenty of replies (although, they tend to like to argue a topic to death). I would prefer to post in the Catholic sub forum.

I'm grateful for this subforum though, I have never completely left this place, I just get disengaged, but I never write it off.

I do have a big problem where I will get zealous over something (in a good way), buy a book about it, or read a website about it, and then it fizzles, and it feels impossible to get that zeal back. For example, I went to protestanterrors.com and found out that the content contains excerpts of a great book called The Catholic Controversy by St Francis de Sales and when I got the book I was so excited and began reading certain parts of it and now it's been close to a year and I have hardly picked up the book but I don't like that I lost that pizazz, because I actually want to delve into it but I have so much going on that I can't even spend some time alone to read it anymore.

Absolutely. Me too. I find some of the other areas just too nasty.

I had major sleep issues in the spring and wasn't able to be on-line at all. But, came back as soon as I was feeling better. It seemed fairly busy here until a few weeks ago.

Yeah everything seemed to drop off dramatically around the same time.

I haven't seen very many people on who normally post here. Miss you guys. :sorry:
I have been politically overloaded. I think I am grieving the loss of America. Trying to get my bearings straight in this new world. And although still posting I am reticent.

I noticed even Fr Z is getting his bearings examined. Makes sense. Especially when everything has changed. What do we want to do with our remaining time? It's a good question to be asking.

I'm still hanging around on the other side of the Pacific. I'll just stick to the forum for the moment.

It's too far to swim with a mask on - it fogs up the goggles, and you wouldn't believe how hard it is to clear the snorkel!

I tend to stick to certain sub-forums, mainly this one, The Junk Drawer, Kitchen Sink, Theology (when I can find something that's not over the top, with someone elaborating in-finite detail about an obscure point of scripture), with occasional forays elsewhere.

I used to be on CAF until a couple of years ago, but it closed recently. Here's hoping that CF has a longer life span.

I’m still here! I just moved into my apartment and I’m without internet until the 22nd. My phone only gets one bar there so it’s not much use. It’s been quite a ride settling in back here, lemme tell ya.

Maybe I’ll update my thread if anybody’s interested.

I asked my 87 year old dad if he's ever seen a crazy year like the one we just had and he said "No!" This whole year has just worn me out--between covid related issues and politics.

It’s been a combination with the isolation Covid brought and witnessing the seeming collapse of both society and our church.

I watched a video tonight with the “news” guy Jake Tapper and he was literally seething when talking about Trump and republicans in general. The hatred was almost palpable .

Then I worry about myself where I start feeling intense feelings that cross the line when watching the likes of Jake Tapper.

A nation divided cannot stand.
