There seem to be a lot of vindictive idiots on the Left.

No argument here.

It's not so long ago that people on the Left were calling for those who worked for or supported Trump to be blacklisted so that they could never work again. Let's not beat around the bush, these are tactics that are intended to silence any dissent. If you don't comply, you and your family will die cold, homeless, and hungry, through lack of work and income.

No, that isn't a tactic intended to silence dissent. It's a tactic designed to discourage the sort of horrible actions we saw from the Trump administration.

There are laws in civilised countries, and if you break them you can expect punishment, but being of the wrong political inclination is not, and should not, be a crime. Why do people on the Left so often seem to want to create some kind of para-legal, and para-judicial system for punishing those that they disagree with? You can call them idiots, or stupid, but I think that's a rather lazy and inadequate argument for something that keeps cropping up again and again.

You're never understand so long as you fail to grasp the difference between run-of-the-mill political disagreements like we might have with, say, Mitt Romney or Susan Collins and the sort of pathological dishonesty, meanness, dysfunction, and corruption we saw from Trump and his enablers.

to be expected by places like Harvard that spoon feed their safe space seeking students liberal pablum.

You don't know anybody from Harvard, do you?

I think he should get to keep the diploma. Good money was payed for them.

I find it very difficult to believe that Trump earned a degree from Harvard when the man can't even correctly spell basic words in his tweets and he referred to Nepal and Bhutan as 'Nipple' and 'Button.'

What's more bothersome is when "Christian" universities start bending their knees to the worldly platform of the woke.
Shall not the masses fall to the sway of the spirit of anti-Christ in the end of days? Self interest shall dominate.

Trump and his kids graduated from Penn. Jared went to Harvard (after daddy bought him a spot there).

no, nor anybody from China.

I’m entirely unsurprised.

Being 'horrible' is a rather subjective judgement, and it's not a crime, so what gives anyone the right to try and create a kind of para-legal, para-judicial system for administering punishment?

That's just your opinion. Nothing more. And your opinion doesn't mean someone deserves punishment.

You confident about your overall generalization?
It doesn't look good for Harvard. Maybe they should introduce mandatory classes on diversity, tolerance, and how not to be vindictive, sanctimonious, and bigoted.

A reversal of oppressed to oppressors. Typical overkill as we reach the superbowl of idiocrasy and divisive games. Perhaps badges or armbands with a big T on it will be next.

I doubt much will be done. Maybe take Trump name off of plaques . But, I doubt they will take his diploma away. Even though, the world knows his diploma is a joke. But I don't see any decent business wanting to be associated with Trump. Trumps = bad behavior, brainwashing and terrorist behavior. So that might bring business with name down.

I'm surprised you missed the point.

I didn't miss your point at all - or at least I don't think I did. If I inferred your meaning correctly, you're trying to illustrate how you don't have to know someone personally to know something about them.

My point is that you have no idea what you're talking about. You've bought into a bunch of dishonest propaganda from right-wing pundits who've played on your abject ignorance and convinced you of something that you're willing to believe but have no way of disproving.

I've known dozens of people who've attended Harvard and hundreds more from other top-tier schools. Almost without exception, they've been bright, thoughtful, insightful, intelligent, and well-read. And they've spanned the political spectrum. There is a vast chasm between them and the average right-wing rando making ridiculous claims like the one you did - if you want to find somebody being spoon-fed pablum, look in the mirror.

Being 'horrible' is a rather subjective judgement, and it's not a crime, so what gives anyone the right to try and create a kind of para-legal, para-judicial system for administering punishment?

The same thing that gives them the right to hold anybody else accountable for any other perceived wrongdoing.

What an odd perspective - somebody does something wrong and everybody else is just supposed to smile and be okay with it merely because it's not criminal? I can get fired from my job and blacklisted from the industry, for being a raging jerk. I can get kicked out of a store for yelling at the cashier. I can get kicked out of a restaurant for having smelly, uncontrolled flatulence.

Just as the left does. Why do people bother being played by both sides? Who really benefits from this divisiveness? Or is that too deep a question for the masses?

I think Harvard has standards and this silly notion will fizzle out.

Except for honorary degrees. Those are up for grabs.

Completely agree. Universities can't suddenly revoke qualifications that they themselves awarded for educational attainment, unless some kind of fraud was involved. If they try, they will simply devalue their own degrees and end up losing a lawsuit.

Honorary degrees are a completely different matter, and since they don't involve meeting set criteria other than the decision of the uni to award it, they can be revoked if desired

Will Harvard refund all their tuition? Pay them for time wasted on a nonexistent degree? They had no problem with these people when they were taking their money--what hypocrites.

You're calling the university hypocrites because some of their students started a petition?

Harvard students, meaning Harvard is busy educating them. Harvard definitely bears some responsibility for this behavior..

Certainly they aren't alone, these kids' high schools, prep schools, former colleges and parents also bear some responsibility for raising this country's version of the NKVD (the NKVD post 1934 of course).

Back when I was college age a Harvard degree was highly respected, and highly prized. Harvard was a well respected institution of higher learning. At this point Harvard's own students are truly degrading the value of their degrees, if this degradation continues a Harvard degree will mean little to nothing.

In other news, The Wharton School should loose accreditation because one of their graduates was a dismal failure in the world of business.

Can you explain how you intend to hold people accountable for being 'horrible', if their behaviour is not a crime?
