I’ve lost all motivation, but I know I can’t ever accomplish God’s Will if I continue like this.
I’ve been living in the past or where I want to be, not where I am because of how much it hurts.
I miss having innocent hope. I miss having motivation to do simple things. I miss the pre pandemic life, too.
How do I overcome this?

If you are relying on yourself to accomplish God's will, you hope in vain. Lord Jesus said that apart from Him, we can do nothing. However, Paul learned that he could do all things through Christ. If you will rely entirely on the Lord Jesus for motivation, desire, and enabling, you will pull out of the pit that you find yourself in. Before you go, shine a light on the walls. You'll find my writings all over the pit walls. I can assure you that the Lord can and will lift you out and set you back on solid ground. But only if you ask Him.

When I think about God's blessings instead of my troubles (I'm easily depressed), I start thanking Him for all the times He was and is there to help me survive, and I read my Bible.

Philippians 4 NIV
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. Until then, I'll be here with you slogging it out, praying together, fighting for every inch even when there simply is no will to go on.

And Jesus is with us, not so that we may accomplish great things but so that we may know that we are loved even when we feel completely unlovely. Even when we want to pretend that life is not what it is, when we desire a fantasy rather than be thankful for what He has provided us and where He has put us. He is with us, and it doesn't get better than that.

We just need to figure out why we're not content with it.

Knowing who we're not supposed to be is the right start.

Now we just have to humbly ask Him to show us who we are in Him.


Remember this:

John 16
"…32'Look, an hour is coming and has already come when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and you will leave Me all alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. 33I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take courage; I have overcome the world!'"

Well, the book of Revelation and Matthew 24 tells us that what is coming ahead is not going to be very pleasant. What we all should be doing right now is to be praying that we may be counted worthy to escape all these things that's coming to this world in the end times. Luke 21:36

Good or bad is no longer the question as far as God is concerned.

"I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing." John 15:5

We can do kinds of things out our own talents and abilities. As far as God is concerned, they are nothing. The sooner we learn that lesson, the sooner we enter into the real Christian life - in experience, not just theory.

Dear brother,
don’t lose heart.
Brother, whom you have heard : don’t ever experience a period of despondency.
Even John the Baptist asked of His disciples to inquired about Lord Jesus Christ.
Didn’t the disciples of the Lord want the Lord not to go away but we be with them as before ?
Have you not heard about the disciples went fishing and thereafter the Lord met them on the shore and comforted them.

However, hurt you are now. The Lord can comfort you. Didn’t the Lord send Holy Spirit to comfort us ? Yes, He is.

Draw near Him and He will bind your wounds.

I understand. I have a disease CMT that I become literally physically stuck and can’t move when I get cold. When I was in college at age 52, I would be walking about campus and suddenly couldn’t move. I would ask someone to give me a nudge to help me get started again and it worked. I do that in my everyday life sometimes also. I just get stuck in a rut and need a boost or a push. Most of the time, I am stuck because I have taken my eyes off of God and begun to run my own path.

Sometimes it takes someone holding me accountable, sometimes it takes a prayer and sometimes the Word of God reaches into my uttermost being and gives me the nudge I need. But very often the “stuck” gives over when I begin to focus on being thankful/grateful and/or begin to just worship my heavenly Father, acknowledging who He is and my love for Him because He first loved me. I pray that you will find your Way in Him, your purpose in Him and know the joy and peace of His love. Being stuck is not fun and we usually want to get out of there ASAP. Sometimes that is our only motivation but when we focus on why He put us here on earth and our purpose for His kingdom it changes everything. God bless you.

Some of what you shared reminded me of a time where I felt like I didn't know what God wanted me to do. I felt lost and didn't know how I could make a difference. First and foremost, living in the past is one of the enemy's best weapon to keep people from doing the Lord's will. All he has to do is get you to think about the past and you walk through that door. Not dealing with the past, whether it was your mistake or someone else's, will stop you from moving forward. You're holding on to something, and that something needs to be released to Him. Pray about it or write it down and let it out and let it go. Prayer for discernment.

The thing that helps me most is connecting with like-minded people doing the things I want to accomplish. Not talking about it. But active engagement.

I started working with coaches last year and it made a difference. This year I found experts in every area of need and began working with them. It exposed me to people at different points in their journey. We’re united by a shared commitment for growth and support each other’s efforts.

I’ve experienced a dramatic shift in mindset and I’m progressing rapidly. Part of that pertains to the main thing. I direct my energy towards the things God wants me to focus on and make certain I address them frequently. More than the rest. It bolsters my spirit and minimizes distractions.

I hope you find your way back to peace and rediscover your joy in Him and in life.

you are not alone. I understand periods of despondency can take a heavy toll on people’s minds. Don’t be trouble. Have not our Lord commanded this to us :

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." -Joshua 1:9

Trust what our Lord have said :

fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. -Isaiah 41:10

Remember His own words:
And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. -Matthew 28:18
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, -Matthew 28:19
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." -Matthew 28:20

Yes, our Lord is with us ! What great comfort He gives us always.

You've gotten some good responses. Didnt see these, so encouraging laughter and praise Because...

"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: ..." Pro 17:22. In "God's Prescription Book" by Dr Avery Jackson is a neurosurgeon and a Christian. So he takes a different look at the impact of Scripture. An example is from the chapter on laughter - laughter among other things affects our immune systems. Our bodies can't tell the difference between an authentic laugh and when we make ourselves laugh. Even if we have to resort to youtube, we can laugh. The rest of that Pro 17:22 verse is "...but a broken spirit drieth the bones." Yeah, we need to laugh.

Also, "To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified." Isa 61:3

However we do it, we need to praise Him. Imperfect as we are, yet His Spirit is always with us, He thinks about you more than the grains of sand. Even the very hairs of your head are all numbered Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.' Luk "The Lord appeared from of old to me [Israel], saying, Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn you and continued My faithfulness to you." Jer 31:3 ETC
