Seem some are never happy. You won and yet you are still ragging on him? 4 years of it and still it goes on despite the fact that he is gone. I bet 6 months from now it will still be going strong. There is a word for that.

Maybe it's not about winning -- maybe it's about decency and integrity... and making sure it never gets sold out again.

He's not gone yet.

Both he and a significant number of his followers insist that he'll be President come Jan 20.

I am wondering how the events of last week changed our views of President Trump.

I dont know how the OP is defining "loyal". I've never agreed 100% with Trump, but I have and still do believe he made an excellent president and I largely will always agree with many of his policy decisions... I am saddened by the events this election cycle; that Trump lost as well as how the election was handled (even family pets appear to be eligible voters now), as well as how Trump dealt with that loss...

But that doesn't stop me from believing his policies were some of the best we've had in decades, and I wish him well in any future endeavors. I figure he'll end up in media in some form...

My "loyalty" is with my Lord, and His Kingdom, however. Trump is, at the end of the day, a fallen, fallible man...

As a lifelong Republican, I will continue to speak out against Trump and Trumpism as long as his Yes-man followers have control of the Party. Trumpism is an anathema to me and I want it banished from the Party. However, I don't want it to be forgotten because it should serve as a reminder of what will happen when Republican politicians compromise their morals and sell out to an avaricious charlatan.

I agree with other Never Trump Republicans who believe these sell out Republican leaders should face some serious ramifications for supporting Trump in his failed efforts to overturn the election. I think the 2022 election should be a Day of Reckoning for them if they aren't forced to resign beforehand.

Then why associate with Trump? Or is he Gomorrah?
I was thinking of Trump being Gomorrah. Or worse. But I guess Trump can do what ever he wants. As long as he's not gay and keeping his supporters happy. He's responsible for 5 murders , but that's ok.

I think it could be things like: who remembers what foreign terrorism on our streets felt like?; who remembers what it felt like to come out on the losing side of every international trade deal?; who remembers what it felt like to be bullied by Russia, China, N. Korea and Iran?; and who remembers what it feels like to be considered a 2nd concern to all the immigrants who can be brought into the country?... to name a few things.

Are we really winning on trade deals? As of October, our global trade deficit was over $67 billion—a 14 year high.

US trade deficit up to $67.1 billion in August, 14-year high

And Trump’s tax cut increased my taxes. All my itemized deductions went away. Hopefully, the new Congress will restore at least some of those. But I’ll give him some credit for not screwing up the great Obama stock market rally.

There should be no doubt that Donald Trump’s 2 enormous failures vastly overshadow anything worthwhile he might have done. The first is his contemptible and miserably inept handling of the Covid-19 pandemic. Contemptible because as early as last Feb., he knew how dangerous Covid could be. Yet he deliberately withheld this from the public. He downplayed it by continually claiming the illness would just “go away.” He derided sensible measures—like wearing masks and social distancing—that could reduce transmission. He hyped hydroxychloroquine, despite a large preponderance of evidence showing it was ineffective. The man clearly knows nothing about medical science. Other than he distrusts it. He lied to the American people and put economic concerns over their lives and health. A total and utter disgrace.

His other debacle is obviously his odious attempt to overturn a fair election. Culminating in his inciting a mob to run riot in the Capitol. And 5 people died. No need to say more.

His legacy will be as the most loathsome President in history. Worse than James Buchanan and Millard Fillmore. The very bottom of the barrel of Presidental failures.

I didn't know much about him and thought people were overreacting about him at first. I was one of the "they are all the same " . I couldn't have been more wrong on that
.
I didn't vote in 2016 . He was far worse than I could have ever imagined , just a pathetic excuse for a man and leader.
I had to register to vote in 2020 to get him out.
. Even though I don’t always vote in local elections I always keep my registration up. If I cant remember if I voted, I send in another registration. Now you can check online but back then you couldn’t. If I change my mind about voting I can go vote and I’ve done that 30 minutes before the polls closed once.

Give me a break, they should be punished for their allegiance? for who they voted for? Well, now I understand why you voted for B and K.

This poll actually gives me hope.

You don't have to shed conservative ideals to shed Trump.

I'd very much like to shed Trump and Trumpism from the Republican Party. I'm very relieved he was defeated in the election. I'm also relieved that he was unable to overturn the election in his favor.

Was Millard Fillmore really that bad?

Not to go off-topic...I’d be thrilled if Congress restores the deductions for state and local taxes; mortgage interest on one primary residence; charitable donations; medical expenses; and investment management fees. And all can be capped at certain percentages of AGI.

I voted for Trump this year, and the events of the past week did nothing to change my mind of him; I'd vote for him again if I had the chance.

The action by Trump supporter on Jan 6 is to overthrow legitimate election result to restore someone by force. If that doesn’t change your mind then why even bother voting in future? You clearly have doubt about election process.

I am wondering how the events of last week changed our views of President Trump.

I never was actually pro Trump I was more anti Clinton. I will say that he did a much better job than I expected. As far as what happened at the capital that had nothing to do with Trump, just stupid people who love anarchy and mayhem. We saw the same actions from Biden supporters just a few months ago as well in several BLM protests. You can’t group millions of people into any certain category because large groups like these will always be diverse and there will always be violent extremists in any group of this size I don’t care what group it is. You can’t rightly accuse the entire group based of the actions of a small percentage of idiots within the group.
