Many years ago it occurred to me that even if I was able to force myself to be pious enough during my lifetime to qualify for Heaven; I was pretty sure I couldn't keep it up for eternity. Sooner or later my true colors would show themselves because at the core of my being is the non-divine human nature of the original Adam.

My existence is no different than his and that's because my existence was produced by his existence, i.e. I am that first Adam's biological progeny and no other's. I am not, by nature, a two-fold being, i.e. I am not a son of God and a son of Man like Christ. I came from my mother's womb as only a son of Man.

That's a serious handicap because it's already been decided that no progeny of that first Adam will be-- and currently is not --accepted into the kingdom of God (1Cor 15:50) consequently the extremely grave importance of taking the initiative to verify that the nature of Christ is in you per Rom 8:9 and 2Cor 13:5-6 in order to assure that we don't leave this life with only non-divine human nature at the core our being.

2 Pet 1:3-4 . . His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by His own glory and goodness. Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

FAQ: Is the divine nature spoken of by Peter a reward, i.e. something to be earned?

A: No; it's freely distributed and totally undeserved: no strings attached and nothing required in return.

FAQ: Why is the divine nature so seldom mentioned in the New Testament?

A: Because it's usually presented by its other description: eternal life.

FAQ: Eternal life is a freebie?

A: It is.

NOTE: I suspect that people in the fiery section of the netherworld get very upset when they find out how easy it would've been to avoid their fate-- some may even react with yelping and howling like wounded dogs.

POPULATION CLOCK UPDATE: 1,255 days have elapsed since beginning the thread. If the figures in post No.1 are within reason, then something like 76,216,150 new arrivals have checked into the fiery sector of hades since June 19, 2017.

From St. Gregory of Nyssa:

"No being created by God will fall outside the Kingdom of God [...] No being will remain outside the number of the saved.”
-Commentary on 1 Corinthians 15:28 (In Illud), 14, 21.

"If this (sin) be not cured here, its cure is postponed to a future life. As sure remedies for obstinate cases, so God announces His future judgment for the cure of the diseases of the soul, and that judgment uses threats to the lazy and vain [...] in order that, through fear, we may be trained to avoiding evil; but by those who are more intelligent, it (the judgment) is believed to be a medicine, a cure from God, who is bringing the creature, which he has formed, back to that state of grace which first existed.”
-Catechetical Orations, VIII.

Thanks to the union with one another, all will be joined in communion with the Good, in Jesus Christ Our Lord” -Commentary on Song of Songs XV.

“When all that is evil has disappeared, “they will know”, says Scripture, “that God is the Lord of Jacob and of the ends of the earth.” Indeed, since there will be no evil left anywhere, the Lord will be the absolute sovereign of all the earth, after evil, which now reigns over most people, will have been wiped out.”
-Commentary on Psalm 59

From Theodore of Mopsuestia (AD 350 - 428)

"The wicked who have committed evil the whole period of their lives shall be punished till they learn that, by continuing in sin, they only continue in misery. And when, by this means, they shall have been brought to fear God, and to regard Him with good will, they shall obtain the enjoyment of His grace. For he never would have said, until thou hast paid the uttermost farthing, unless we can be released from suffering after having suffered adequately for sin; nor would he have said, he shall be beaten with many stripes, and again, he shall be beaten with few stripes, unless the punishment to be endured for sin will have an end." -Assemani, Bibliotheca Orientalis (1728) Tom. III.

Cyril of Alexandria (AD 376-444)

"For having destroyed hell and opened the impassible gates for the departed spirits, he [Christ] left the devil there abandoned and lonely." -Seventh Paschal Homily 2

Maximus the Confessor (AD 580 - 662)

Death is the last enemy to be destroyed” means whenever we, ourselves, submit the entire self-determining will to God, then the last enemy is also abolished. And it is called “death” since God is life, and that which is opposed to life is fittingly called death. Questions and Doubts 21

"This [image] may perhaps be the subjection of which Paul speaks when he describes the Son subjecting to the Father those who freely accept to be subjected to Him…on account of which, the last enemy, death, will be destroyed…henceforth [the will] has neither the inclination nor the ability to be carried elsewhere…it will become God by divinization…for in that state nothing will appear apart from God, nor will there be anything opposed to God that could entice our will to desire it, since all things intelligible and sensible will be enveloped in the ineffable manifestation and presence of God."-Ambiguum 7.11-12

"The Godhead will really be all in all, embracing all and giving substance to all in itself, in that no being will have any movement separate from it and nobody will be deprived of its presence. Thanks to this presence, we will be, and will be called, gods and children, body and limbs, because we shall be restored to the perfection of God’s project." -Ambiguum 7.31

FAQ: What if somebody was born dishonest?

A: You mean like this?

Ps 58:3 . . The wicked are estranged from the womb; these who speak lies go astray from birth.

If perchance someone reading this is a natural-born liar, then I suggest they take advantage of whatever time remains on their life clock to begin preparing themselves for the worst when they pass on.

Rev 21:8 . . . All liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

Rev 21:1-3 . . Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.

Rev 21:27 . . Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is deceitful,

Rev 22:15 . . Outside is everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

Those passages are really bad news for natural-born liars because deception and disinformation are pretty much the only way of life they know.[/font]

FAQ: What's on the "outside" referred to in Rev 22:15?

A: The sum of all fears.

Rev 21:8 . . . All liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

The night of Christ's birth, he was labeled a savior; which is basically a knight in shining armor who is capable of rescuing folk caught in a strait so strong and so severe that they are totally helpless to either evade it or escape it.

Jer 13:23 . . Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? Then may you also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.

Christmas may seem like an inappropriate time to discuss Hell, but seeing as how Jesus is directly associated with that terrible place then I think it safe to assume that Hell is not only an appropriate topic at Christmas but an essential topic.

I expect the event depicted at Rev 20:11-15 will a very disturbing spectacle as it begins to sink into people's thick skulls that everything they've heard about Hell is true.

Some of us are going to have to watch as friends, associates, and loved ones become literally pale with terror, lips trembling, mouths too dry to speak, shrieking, sobbing, screaming and bellowing like wounded dogs as their eyes dart about in sheer white-knuckled panic, desperately looking for someone, anyone, to help them as powerful celestial beings are given the order to take them away and have them executed by a mode of death akin to a foundry worker falling into a kettle of molten iron.

FAQ: What if Adam had first eaten some fruit from the tree of life prior to trying the forbidden fruit?

A: The tree of life doesn't work like a vaccine, rather, it's a remedy portrayed in the Bible as a treatment for whatever ails you. (Rev 22:2)

In other words; under normal circumstances Adam had no use for the tree of life at first because he was already immortal. Adam was created impervious to death; an advantage he lost by tampering with the forbidden fruit when he was instructed not to.

Gen 2:16-17 . . And the Lord God commanded the man: You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.

Well; Adam didn't drop dead to the floor when he ate the forbidden fruit. In point of fact he continued to live 800 more years beyond the birth of his son Seth. (Gen 5:4)

So the death that Adam underwent due to tasting the forbidden fruit began with his loss of immortality, i.e. Adam's body became infected with mortality which, if left untreated, is 100% fatal. Mortality is a living death that gradually broke Adam down to the point where his body could no longer keep going.

The tree of life wouldn't prevent Adam from contracting mortality, but the tree would've cured it and restored him to perfect health, but alas he wasn't permitted to take advantage of it.

FAQ: Human sacrifices are not allowed in the covenant that Moses' people agreed upon with God in the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. Since Jesus was a Jew whose religion was governed by that covenant, then how was it legal for him to die for the sins of the world?

A: The laws of God are not retroactive (Deut 5:2-4, Rom 4:15, Rom 5:13) This is extremely important because Jesus was designated, and scheduled, to die on a cross prior to God creating even a single atom for the current cosmos. (1Pet 1:18-21 & Rev 13:8)

FAQ: According to the Bible thumpers; it's a "must" to believe in Christ's gospel in order to be spared the wrath of God. How is that fair to peoples of the world who were never afforded an opportunity to hear it?

A: In April of 2018, I watched a movie on NetFlix called "Come Sunday" based upon the spiritual career of a Christian minister named Carlton D'metrius Pearson.

Mr. Pearson underwent a crisis of faith due to pondering the fate of the millions of people in the world perishing in genocides, civil wars, and whatnot who never heard, nor ever would hear, Christ's gospel. It seemed thoroughly unreasonable to him that a reputedly merciful, loving God would condemn so many uninformed people just because they didn't believe in a Jesus about whom many of them likely knew nothing about.

Mr. Pearson's solution to the problem was to simply do away with Hell by insisting that classical Christianity's interpretation of the New Testament is incorrect; which is remarkable seeing as how he attended Oral Roberts University and was mentored by Oral Roberts himself.

But Mr. Pearson's thinking is a bit of a puzzle to me seeing as how he was seminary-trained. It seems to me that he should've been aware that not everyone will be judged on the basis of whether they believed Jesus' gospel. According to the first two chapters of the letter to Romans, quite a few people will be judged based upon their logic, their conscience, and the realm of nature.

And then there's the universal gospel per Rev 14:6-7 wherein there is no baby Jesus, no virgin conception, no crucifixion, and no resurrection. It's a bounce from the first chapter of Genesis, with elements from the 19th Psalm. The universal gospel is very basic; pretty much all it says is:

1» There's a supreme being.

2» He deserves respect.

3» There's a reckoning to face some day.

4» The cosmos-- all of its forms of life, matter, and energy --is the product of intelligent design.

The universal gospel doesn't announce anything new. It merely reiterates what every sensible person knows already without having to read a Bible or listen to a preacher.

Unbelief related to the universal gospel is serious, but according to Luke 12:47-48 it's far less serious than unbelief related to Christ's gospel. People who resist and/or suppress Christ's gospel are immediately condemned when they do so-- no delay and no waiting period. (John 3:18 & John 3:36)

The story recorded in the third chapter of Genesis is a bit of an enigma. The reason being that not only can the creator scan the future as if viewing live coverage, but He's also fully capable of manipulating it. In other words; the events in this chapter were neither unexpected nor inevitable.

People get upset with the all-powerful loving God for not stepping in and preventing the so-called fall of man. But they need to remember that humanity wasn't created to be the subject of domestication and animal husbandry-- i.e. beasts --no, people were created in the image and likeness of God, and given complete dominion over the entire Earth. In that capacity humanity is at liberty to manage its own affairs as if it were a divine sovereign. (Gen 1:26, Gen 1:28, and Ps 82:6)

Besides; does anybody really want to live in a micro-managed Big Brother society? I don't think so. But that's the logic behind just about every product liability lawsuit. Rather than taking the bull by the horns and doing something to cure humanity's propensity to destroy itself, product liability lawsuits go after suppliers who provide the means. Well, all I can say to that is: thank God the creator is out of their reach or they'd do the same to Him.

God gave humanity the liberty to build itself up and/or tear itself down; and to nurture the Earth and/or exploit it. Actually, that's the way many of us prefer it because we want to be our own guiding lights rather than have bosses manage our lives for us without our consent.

NOTE: Compared to the Federal Debt's trillions of dollars, 79¼ million may not seem like all that much, but in footage, it comes to 15,010 miles, which is 5.8 times the diagonal distance across America from San Diego to Boston as the crow flies. Driving 15,010 miles at 55mph would take eleven and a third days. Well before completing that distance, the Apollo 11 astronauts would've already been to the Moon and back.
