It has been claimed that the crypt in the Capitol is haunted by a demon cat who is said to appear before national tragedy. If the ghostly cat does exist—and I know many on here do not believe in ghosts—I wonder if he appeared before the attack? If so it could have been a sign for this lawyer and the others to back off. And no, I'm not trying to get a debate started over whether ghosts exist or whether cats have ghosts--that would be a different thread.

One of DC's roller derby teams is named the Demon Cats after the ghostly feline.

A Christian should run their business firstly to glorify God, and secondly to provide for their family and the families of their employees. The maxim that a business should be run only for profit is not compatible with Christian capitalism, because a Christian entrepreneur must focus on treasures in heaven more than earthly riches. Therefore it behooves Christian employers to stand by their employees through thick and thin and to respect their first amendment rights.

First: Not when the employee is doing something the employer believes is objectively wrong.
Second: The employer has greater responsibilities to more people than that single employee.
Third: There is nothing within scriptural teaching that obligates a Christian to defend any worldly national "rights."

Why not wait until the employee is actually charged?

That has no relevance to an employer's requirements for continued employment. People get fired every day for actions that have not been charged by the police as crimes. In fact, the vast majority of firings are not for actions that have been charged as crimes.

In response to A, see above. See also the Golden Rule. While martyrdom ensures the salvation of the martyr (Matthew 10:32), Christians would prefer not to be persecuted, and the Golden Rule given to us by our Lord therefore requires we restrain ourselves from persecuting others based on their religious beliefs. This was briefly the case in the ancient Roman Empire, which had religious freedom from the Edict of Milan after St. Constantine’s conversion experience, until the Arians took over owing to the machinations of Eusebius of Nicomedia (Emperor Theodosius ended the persecution of Christians by Arians around 390, but decided it would be a crackerjack idea to instead brutally suppress the Jews, Samaritans, Neo-Platonists, Manichees, and the struggling remnants of the old Polytheist religions).

In response to B, there have been cases where it has been ruled that private companies have infringed upon the free speech of their employees, and there is also the federal ban on discrimination in the workplace and in the housing market.

You keep talking about things that have never had anything to do with why people generally get fired from a job.

Once again, can and should are two different things.

What is in Scripture is “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” and the treatment of peaceful protestors in the Capitol stinks to the stratosphere of hypocrisy.

It sure does, compared to how the protestors were treated at Lafayette Park.

As far as them being "peaceful," the videos of the scene show otherwise.

You're not talking about Kamala Harris, are you?

Ah, so now you're arguing that the invasion was morally justified.

Not necessarily, although I am saying that in view of the way the government has been run for approximately the last 25 years or so, this was not only likely to happen, it was inevitable. And I'm afraid that we're going to see more and more of this the longer things go on. There are millions of citizens who feel the government is out of control; that their votes don't count; that they are being ignored and silenced; that their rights, liberties, and freedoms are being taken away. You can call them deluded, you can call them morons, you can call them terrorists or criminals or traitors or whatever you like. The simple fact is, this is what they actually believe, and sooner or later, they're going to have to be addressed, because ignoring them is only going to work for so long---and that time is just about up.

In addition to that attorney (from my area), this airline pilot also from my area has also been fired by the airline he worked for (which is owned by the Perot family)..

But in his case, there's more. He's also a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel. He has been positively identified as having entered Nancy Pelosi's office with a handful of heavy-duty zip ties commonly used to restrain prisoners.

I predict he will be pulled back into active duty and court-martialed. The Air Force will probably not let the civilian courts handle this one.

The interesting thing is that what you have written could be used to describe two entirely different groups in the USA at the moment.

In a statement to the Military Times, Ann Stefanek, an Air Force spokesperson, said, “Lt. Col. Larry R. Brock, Jr. retired from the Air Force Reserves in 2014. As a private citizen, we no longer have jurisdiction over him.

Maybe not.

Yes, they do. Ann spoke too quickly. The military has and can court-martial retired members for actions after their active duty service. That doesn't normally happen because such crimes are usually civilian in nature.

This case, however, goes directly to military honor and duty to the nation. If they can make a case that this man intended to take an elected official prisoner in the Capitol building, that will fall directly into the narrow range of crimes for which the military will break his sword and strip the buttons from his uniform.

Another factor is that Brock collects about $3500 a month in retirement pay. That is retirement pay, not an earned pension. It comes out of the DoD payroll funds appropriated annually by Congress for "reduced services rendered." Normally, a military retiree continues to accrue retirement pay even while in prison. The money will be waiting for him when he is released. At some point, some Congresscritter is going to say something about that.

That doesn't stop as a clerical issue. The only way to strip Brock of military pays and benefits (like burial at a national cemetery) is by court-martial.

This is going to get hot, and the military will "shoot its own dog" rather than let civilians do it for them.

Many of them did wear masks. Like this commando-dressed guy, who is also carrying a handful of heavy-duty zip ties...commonly used to restrain hostages. Thankfully, he didn't locate any.

Capitol Rioters with Zip Ties Suggest Plan to Take Hostages

Well apparently not enough of them were, because of all the firings and charges. All this after ONE action. Meanwhile the left has been rioting for MONTHS. But we aren't seeing the same level of firings and charges. Probably due to the mask wearing combined with the fact they probably don't have jobs.

If you know there is a reason other than the one you're implying, why are you making the implication?

Plus, you continue with the false equivalency that street riots equal an assault on the US Capitol building.
