It seems a plane full of self described "patriots" were not "following crew member instructions and complying with mandatory face-covering policies" according to American Airlines. Direct flight AA 1242 flew from Reagan National Airport to Phoenix Sky Harbor on Friday (Kansas was no on the itinerary) .

A pilot on an American Airlines flight from Washington, DC, to Phoenix, threatened to divert the plane and strand unruly Trump fans in Kansas.

"This is the way it's gonna be… it's a four and a half hour flight to Phoenix. We'll put this plane down in the middle of Kansas and dump people off — I don't care. We will do that if that's what it takes, so behave, please."

The airline said there were no further incidents following the pilot's announcement.

Submit to Government
1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. 4 For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. 5 Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. 7 Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.
~Romans 13:1-7 (NKJV)

Living Before the World
11 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, 12 having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.

Submission to Government
13 Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, 14 or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men— 16 as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. 17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

Submission to Masters
18 Servants, be submissive to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the harsh. 19 For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully. 20 For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God. 21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:

22 “Who committed no sin,
Nor was deceit found in His mouth”;

23 who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously; 24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. 25 For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

Bible Gateway passage: Matthew 22:15-22 - International Children’s Bible

20 So they watched Him, and sent spies who pretended to be righteous, that they might seize on His words, in order to deliver Him to the power and the authority of the governor.

21 Then they asked Him, saying, “Teacher, we know that You say and teach rightly, and You do not show personal favoritism, but teach the way of God in truth: 22 Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”

23 But He perceived their craftiness, and said to them, “Why do you test Me? 24 Show Me a denarius. Whose image and inscription does it have?”

They answered and said, “Caesar’s.”

25 And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

26 But they could not catch Him in His words in the presence of the people. And they marveled at His answer and kept silent.
~Luke 20:20-26 (NKJV)

13 Then they sent to Him some of the Pharisees and the Herodians, to catch Him in His words. 14 When they had come, they said to Him, “Teacher, we know that You are true, and care about no one; for You do not regard the person of men, but teach the way of God in truth. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not? 15 Shall we pay, or shall we not pay?”

But He, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, “Why do you test Me? Bring Me a denarius that I may see it.” 16 So they brought it.

And He said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?” They said to Him, “Caesar’s.”

17 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

And they marveled at Him.
~Mark 12:13-17 (NKJV)

15 Then the Pharisees went and plotted how they might entangle Him in His talk. 16 And they sent to Him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that You are true, and teach the way of God in truth; nor do You care about anyone, for You do not regard the person of men. 17 Tell us, therefore, what do You think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”

18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test Me, you hypocrites? 19 Show Me the tax money.”

So they brought Him a denarius.

20 And He said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?”

21 They said to Him, “Caesar’s.”

And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” 22 When they had heard these words, they marveled, and left Him and went their way.

I doubt quoting Romans and Peter would have helped.

If any of these people identify as Christian, then these Bible passages will help separate the sheep from the goats.[1]

As these Bible passages have commanded, any and all Christians involved in these kinds of incidents are to OBEY government regulations, INCLUDING ones involving COVID-19. God has set up and taken down governments, expects us to obey them while keeping within His laws, and commands us to LOVE others as ourselves by NOT putting them in DANGER for the sake of our own selfish ambitions.

We will ALL be held accountable to God for every thought, word, and deed, whether saved or not.[1] Even if we escape God's judgement, we are less likely to escape man's judgement.

Not towards anyone in particular, I highly recommend reading the Holy Bible instead of the American Constitution. The American Constitution has been heavily influenced by enlightenment thinkers such as John Locke and Voltaire, the latter known for being highly critical of Christianity.[2][3][4][5]

Thats when they should have stormed the cockpit.
The sight of them futilely beating on the armored door, and incurring some serious charges for their trouble, would have been priceless.

Thank you for the clarification. Would you agree, the pilot's immediate objective was to have passengers comply with the flight crew's instructions? It's not a pilot's job to sort the sheep from the goats.

While I am no lawyer, I would say that company policy AND government regulation MUST be obeyed by those using their services. These institutions have policies and regulations to keep people safe and to make their services run much more smoothly. Certain industries do have the right to refuse service if company policy is not respected.[3][4][5]

Because we are in a global crisis affecting billions, we cannot afford to allow anyone to believe they are above the law. That would only amount to lawlessness, as foretold by the Holy Bible.[1][2]

My Bible says higher authority. It also says that higher authority is a minister of God.

Because of varying literacy levels, translations, and language evolution over time, there is no perfect Bible version. If anyone wants to read God's Holy Word in its purest form, knowledge in the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Ancient Greek languages are REQUIRED.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]

I strongly recommend owning as many Bible versions as possible to read and compare with each other to understand the full truth. It is not so much the wording itself but the context of TRUTH behind them. This is REQUIRED for those genuinely seeking truth.

Yeah but scary as heck for the rest of the passengers.
For the first minute or three until it dawned on all concerned that the 2 inch thick outward opening steel plate center door is impervious to any one or thing in the passenger compartment. With added hilarity from broken shoulders or ankles among those trying to batter or kick it down.

That's all well and good, but the Christian position in this country is that Covid is no big deal and steps taken to mitigate it are part of an atheistic socialist conspiracy to attack the Christian faith.

I would just want them to shut up and mask up so I can read my book. Violent hilarity on airplanes....no thanks.

Bad behavior after bad behavior from those DC MAGA 'protesters' . From sedition, insurrection, theft, murder, threats of hanging Pence, disrupting airline flights - it is sad.
The pilot was proactive because of these type of things:
Alaska Airlines bans 14 flyers from DC flight after Capitol riot

Alaska Airlines has banned 14 passengers following a rowdy five-hour flight from Washington, D.C., to Seattle late Thursday.....

The airline said a number of passengers on the nearly full flight were "non-mask compliant, rowdy, argumentative and harassed our crew members'' and that 14 of them were banned from flying Alaska as long as its pandemic mask policy is in place.

Well, I know lots of Christians who mask up, think Covid is a very big deal and believe it was handled badly from the top.
