He seemed thrilled with the supreme court when it came to people refusing to bake cakes for gay people, now suddenly he's not for people and companies being able to refuse to do business with those they disagree with. Imagine that.

Also people's understanding of Orwell tends to only go so far as a very stilted, clichéd partial reading of Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Yes, freedom does consist of telling people what they don't want to hear.

It also mattered that Smith was fighting to be able to say something correct - 2+2=4 - and that the state was insisting that people believe something incorrect.

That book is not licence that anyone should be saying anything they like and to heck whether it's correct or not. Freedom without accuracy and fact plays into the hands of authoritarians.

I'm really starting to think they need to quiz Members of Congress on the Constitution before allowing them to be sworn in. Because so many of them seem not to know or understand the document they have sworn to uphold and defend. The less charitable, though imo more likely view, is that they are deliberately lying to their constituents to score political points, counting on people to not realize it.

Ah darn I already gave out my one "winner" rating for this thread.

When it comes to those who have relevant higher education, like the one who spared this thread or Cruz, I agree its likely they are playing dumb with most others, like Tuberville, they really are that clueless.

Update:

He got another publisher for his book but clearly his rights were violated and are still being trampled upon as it is not the largest publisher. As we all know the first amendment not only insures a right to a platform for speech but the largest most viewed platform. Anything less is a Orwellian act of censorship violating our most cherished ideas of free speech.

Humerously his new publisher attacked his old one as they took up his book. Except his old publisher are also the international distributor for his new one. I expect this story has more comedy to come..
